I have a knock on the passenger side front of my 2001 passat 2.8L 5speed. It knocks whenever i give it gas, whether its while im letting the clutch out or not. It has been getting worse. At first i thought it could be a tranny mount but the one underneath the car on the passenger side looks perfectly fine.

I have noticed it when I come to a stop, then I hear a repetitive knock coming from under the front passenger side of the car. knock, knock... 7 times, in rhythm, not decreasing in volume, then it stops. Kind of like a gnome trying to get in from under the car... It does not sound like something is flapping or swinging as the knocks are consistent, it sounds mechanical in nature. The car is at the dealer right now for that and other things but they cannot get it to make that noise.
View 8 RepliesI have a 2001 Passat that I love. I have taken it to a VW dealer as well as two other dealers to try to diagnose this 'noise' problem. It is a noise that comes and goes, and seems to increase after driver fifteen to twenty miles after start. They thought it was the underneath engine cover but it is now back again. It sounds like a rattle when it is bad, also the passenger can feel the vibration under their feet. It rattles from 3 mph to 35 mph approximately. Can even hear it when coming to a stop.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2011 F250 4X4 Supercab 6.7L that has a highly annoying knock/rattle (you can't hear it) under the front passenger side floor. It feels like someone is tapping on the floor beneath your feet any time you hit a bump or when on a rough road.
Its been in at least 5 times in 2 yrs with cab mount adjustments/shims, cab mount replacements and realignment of the exhaust and brackets. The knock has been there since about day one (I assume anyway, I'm rarely on that side of the cab) and have burned up my 36k warranty, although I'm told i'm good because it is pre-existing.
I keep insisting its in the suspension and keep being told they can't find anything. The mechanic indicated that this is a known problem, but Ford has not put out any service bulletins other than to do the cab mounts and suspension. Has anyone had this problem and found the solution?
I drive a SantaFe 2005 2.7 engine....lately it has a gas smell coming out of the passenger side- front... how is this coming from?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2001 Forester with approx. 130k miles 5 speed MT. Sometimes when making a low (5-15mph) speed right hand turn I hear a mild thunk thunk thunk thunk emanating from the front pax corner. The frequency seems linked to the speed. Curiously, I do not hear the noise every time I make a right and I have yet to notice a trend. My partner drives the vehicle more often than I but doesn't make any connections either.
I am relatively certain that we replaced that cv joint/axle this past June.
Got the car back from the wheel shop who installed coilovers and some rims on the car. Riding on 20x8.5 in front and 20x10 out back. Noise coming from the front passenger side.
There was a loose tie rod, tightened it up
Took out the wheel, checked the bolts.
Checked brakes (he painted the calipers for me)
Checked rotors etc
Only happens when I accelerate the car. Barely makes the noise in reverse.

I have a 2001 expedition 5.4 ltr that has developed a coolant leak. Leak appears to be on top of the engine, in front on passenger side. The area around the front fuel injector (on passenger side) is wet and water is running down and sitting on top of engine (under intake manifold). My first thought was that the heater hose extending vertically from the block hose fitting. I have found no evidence of a leak in the hose but it appears fitting on block may be the source. It has three bolts holding it onto the block. One from the top and two coming up from the bottom. Two of the three area accessible. How to get to the upside down bolt nestled between hose fitting, block and valve cover. It's been a slow leak so far but I know that's not going to last. Runs fine but steams from water on block at stops and when parked.
View 2 RepliesOk i did do a "search" and it solved Half my problem. Both the (Front Pass & Rear Pass) 12V Socket were not working. Did a Search and read to check the Fuse Box. Checked ALL Fuses one by one and found a Blue 15 Amp Fuse Blown. Replaced it and the Front Pass 12V socket works now, but the Rear is still not working... Am i missing something?
Car is a 2003 B5.5 Sedan
Okay so I changed my rear brakes, disc and pads on March 18th. The change went okay. Now I'm getting a burning smell from the front pad, specifically the passenger side.
View 1 RepliesI have a knocking noise coming from the passenger side front end under light braking, getting off a highway ramp and getting on a highway ramp. It also knocks once when your turn. It has never done this before so I took it to the Linden VW and blamed the brakes, but it was NOT. Now the dealer messed with something and it shakes at high speeds and hard braking.!?!
View 7 Replies2003 Passat 1.8T, 53,000 miles. There's a clunk coming from the front passenger side so I jacked the car up today and checked it out. Not much play at all when I moved the wheel. Tie rod ends look good, CV boots are intact, control arm bushings look good........except for one. The outer bushing on the passenger side lower rear arm is cracked. I assume this means I should replace that arm?
View 5 RepliesI just recently bought a 2000 passat GLX V6. Once in a while i get to park my car in a garage and each time i have noticed that there is a smell of smoke when i get out of the car, (none in the cabin) kind of like a burning rubber almost. If I go on a long trip and then close the garage it actually fills up the garage with a whitish smoke. I put down some cardboard and found about 3 or 4 drops of oil up near the front of the car on the passenger side, checked the drain plug and its fine. I know that its not a lot at all but some leakage none the less.

The drivers side window works when it wants to, the front passenger and the back drivers side windows wont go down at all and the passenger back window works only when the front drivers window does. The switches are lit up with the windows that don't work..like there is no power going to them. The power locks do the same..with the same problem windows. It has an after market car alarm, so could that be the problem.

View 4 RepliesWhen I startup my Passat, sometimes the passenger front window will go down automatically, then neither driver/passenger window switch will bring it up. Only goes up if I lock car from outside with key. Tried to (temporarily) remove fuse for power windows so I can drive to work (it's cold), removed fuse, windows did not operate, but car would not start.
View 2 RepliesIt happened twice since June when we (central NJ) have had really heavy rains. My front passenger side carpet becomes absolutely soaked, but everything else stays completely dry. Do you think the rubber trim has failed? A regular wash is fine, nothing gets in from that. My car is a 2006 B6 with about 97k on it. It's weird.

It sounds like it's coming from the passenger airbag cover, but this may not be the case. It sounds like pieces of plastic rubbing against each other, as opposed to metallic pieces. What this might be?
View 7 RepliesI have a 2004 Hyundia Santa Fe. The passenger front window will not roll down from driver side switch but will from passenger switch but then will not go up on passenger side switch. I found a broken wire on driver side and repaired it. I put a test light on the wires on the passenger side and used the driver switch and the test light lights when using the up button and down button! I have already put a new master switch in and tested all switches they all work!

View 16 RepliesThe tweeter and the speaker in my passenger side front door have this awful hissing sound coming from them. The sound gets louder and quieter with driving. Could it be a lose connection at the headunit or would it be to each speaker? The speakers are stock by the way.
