Passat (B5) :: 2000 - Spinning Out Of Control On Turns / CV Makes Clicking Noise Occasionally

Feb 27, 2007

It has been raining, finally, in bay area, thats the good part. The scary part is that, today I was driving normal close to 15mph and took a left turn at a traffic light and the car spun out. This was the second time in couple of months. Both times it had rained for long periods, road was not water logged.

First time had spun out of control on right turn and second time on left turn. Tires are close to 30K old. Wheels aligned 6k back, rotated 1k back. And passenger side CV makes clicking noise occasionally. Do not remember, the CV making the noise around the time of spin out on both occasions.

Passat (B5) :: 2002 - Clicking / Knocking Noise When Make Turns

I've been hearing a clicking/knocking noise when i make turns recently and was wondering if it could just be hums in need of replacement... I have a 2002 Passat, so I think its a bit early for it to go but ya never know. If they are the hubs, what causes them to wear out so quick and around how much they'd be to replace (in parts...labor varies). The noise is only when I turn, no noise at all when driving straight.

Passat (B5) :: 2000 - AC Compressor Makes Squealing Noise

All was fine with it until a month or so ago. Now, after the car is first turned on and the AC is turned on, it makes a terrible squealing sound. The moment the AC is turned off it stops. If the AC is left on, it will generally make the noise for a good 20 seconds, stop, and then repeat that a couple more times(and the noise will cease for as long as the car is on).

I popped the hood and took a look (I'm assuming the compressor is on the lower left), and when the AC is off it spins fine. However, when the AC is turned on, the fan starts up, then it visibly stops spinning and really struggles to spin, causing the noise. Do I need a new compressor?

Passat (B5) :: Rhythmic Clunking And Clicking Noise Around Right Hand Turns On Left Wheel

The car is a 2.8L w/ a manual tranny. The car was making a rhythmic clunking and clicking noise around right hand turns on the left wheel. So when the weight of the vehicle is applied to the left, that's when the noise occurs. The car has been in the shop for 6 days and the technicians have replaced both axle shafts (it was time to do so anyway) but the noise is still there!!! What could possibly be making that noise other than bad CV's? The rhythm of the noise coincides with the rotation of the wheel/shaft which is where they have focused. Could it possibly be bad strut mounts? This is driving me crazy!!! They tell me its perfectly safe to drive (how do they know this when thy don't know whats wrong?) but I can't imagine this can carry on much longer without something breaking.

Passat (B5) :: 2000 - Engine Makes A Loud Noise After Running

Going to take a look at a 2000 v6 passat with 130k on it. They had the car serviced at Jiffy lube and now the engine makes a loud noise after running for a minute or so. The wrong oil was used. So I'm thinking the oil pump and screen are clogged up or the oil becomes to thin when warm therefore not providing proper lubrication.

Passat (B5) :: Won't Start - Hearing Hard Drive Clicking Spinning Sound From Middle Of Dash

I'm a fairly new owner of a 2002 W8 Passat. A few days ago I was leaving the grocery store to come home. The car usually starts right up. This time is took 2 or 3 tries of cranking the starter til it fired on. On the drive home I noticed the A/C no longer worked and it didn't display the temperature on the A/C screen like usual. I got home just fine. The next morning I tried to start it. The starter and battery sound very strong. I was a little low on fuel so I dumped two gallons in - didn't work. I noticed a sound like a hard drive spinning or searching coming from the middle of the dash. I thought is was the cd player, but I ruled that out by taking out the stereo fuse. Is there a computer that went bad? I can't imagine there being an actual spinning hard drive in the car, but that's what it sounds like to me. I also noticed the clock and trip meter were reset as well. I didn't disconnect the battery to cause this. All fuses look good. I'm hoping it's not the fuel pump. Bad relay?

Civic - Honda :: 2010 - Makes Metallic Noise In Front Occasionally

My wife reported that her 2010 Civic LX sedan sometimes made a noise in the front, like cutting sheet metal with an electric saw. I have not heard it myself during several times I drove it. What could be the possible causes?

I plan to drive it some more until I hear the noise. What specific info should I note for mechanic to diagnose the problem correctly?

Passat (B5) :: 2000 Will Not Start - No Clicking Noise

As the title states, my 1.8 liter manual will not start. No clicking noises, nothing. Once inside the car, the lights and the auto lock work, but the radio, auto trunk, auto gas hinge, windows and radio will not function. The radio says safe mode. I checked all of the fuses, and all are fine.

Passat (B5) :: 2000 1.8T - Clicking Noise And Decreased Power

Had my 2002 passat in for service to get my turbo replaced... wastegate had begun to fail and was causing a horrible clicking noise, decreased power, etc. Brand new turbo makes the car like a rocket and I love it. However, I am noticing what seems to be different behavior in this turbo compared to when I first bought the car. As I get the car up to mid 3000s on the tachometer, the turbo is nice and kicked in, but begins to waver...I hear the whine noise sort of going up and down and I see the tachometer twitching, going up and down slightly to moderately.

I am not changing how much I am depressing the accelerator so it seems to be just doing this on its own. The car was serviced by really excellent guys local to me who specialize in VW and Porsche performance. I am worried that something is already screwy with the turbo, or maybe this is how things are supposed to be. The car is functioning great otherwise...no check engine indicators or any of that sort of thing and the turbo sounds great but I am concerned that this odd fluctuation behavior with no direct cause from the driver is a problem.

Mustang :: Accelerator Makes A Clicking Noise

I have a 98 mustang V6 that has developed a clicking problem. When I use the accelerator it will make a clicking noise. It is only there when I use the accelerator and u if I press down harder the noise is drowned out. I put the car in nuetral and also applied the gas to see if it depended on me moving or not and I still heard the clicking but it was a lot faster. It comes from under the hood area but I don't know where (as specific as I can get).

Camry :: 2002 LE Hesitates On Starting, Makes Spinning Noises

Background Info: 2002 Camry LE w/ 2.4L engine with approx 90,100 miles. Battery is approx 3 years old and is fully charged (used a trickle charger)

Yesterday I noticed the car was hesitant when I was starting the car. Every time I started the car it took longer to get the car started. Then today, I tried to start my car but all i got was a sound that sounded like something was spinning. There was no clicking, no sounds of the car trying to turn over. So I attached the charger to my car and it said it was good (plus the lights worked, the radio worked, windows rolled up and down).

So I used my breaker bar and hit the starter twice, went back in to the car and it started up, very hesitantly. Now my car will only start when i hit the starter first, otherwise it makes that spinning noise.

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Starter Makes Rapid Clicking Noise

I recently replaced my starter pin my Hyundai Sonata 06 v6 3.3 gls. Installing it was no real issue, but one (there is only one a single wire not the one that you fix on with a bolt and nut) of the electrical connectors from the car to the starter solenoid. The plastic around the conductor pretty much crumbled around my finger, what this connector is called specifically. Now the contacts will not contact properly so i suspect this the source of the rapid clicking issue, since my battery was fully charged. I plan to go to the junkyard too if i can find a replacement. Looking for specifics on the electrical connector?

Passat (B5) :: Spinning Noise From Transmission When Shifting From 1st To 2nd

I've been getting a spinning/whirring noise from the transmission when shifting from 1st to 2nd. It only lasts a few seconds, and seems to occur between 1st and 2nd. Since the transmission is still covered under warranty, I went to a dealer. I knew I needed a new clutch, so I had to let the dealer do the clutch replacement in order to get to the transmission. Once inside, they found my release bearing in several pieces, as well as "damaged gears." VW agreed to replace the transmission, but I still have the spinning noise. The car has 96K miles.

Lexus LS 2007+ :: Won't Start / Makes Buzzing Sound / Starter Spinning But Not Engaging?

My 09 LS w/ 65k on it wont start. last night i drove the car around to several places, and on my last stop of the day i couldnt get the car to start. finally after several tries, it fired right up. but today, no such luck.

All the lights come on (and I have charged my batery with a tender to be sure its not the battery), the steering wheel moves in to position, and I either get a click, or a buzzing sound.

Sounds like starter, any other opinions?

Recently had this problem which started up about a week ago where my car would make this clicking noise whenever I turn left while driving. When I turn to the right there is no noise. Some said that it could be that CV joints need to be replaced. I have a video showing the side that is making the sound, maybe there is something abnormal that I don't see.
