Passat (B5) :: 2000 - Rattling Driver Side Mirror

Do any Passat owners have a situation where their outside driver side mirror rattles? I have a 2000 Passat and have this problem.

View 2 RepliesI'm the original owner of a 2000 passat v6 4motion wagon. For the past couple of years its been my wife's daily driver. Today I got in to drive her to work and at freeway speeds the driver side mirror wobbles to the point that its useless...she said its been that way for a while. Haven't looked into it at all as far as opening it up.
View 7 RepliesI am just curious about my passat side mirrors ... the passenger mirror is smaller then the driver side?
View 12 RepliesI just bought a 99 passat v6 and noticed that the passenger side mirror is smaller then the drivers side is that how it is normally or is my passat messed up?
View 12 RepliesDriver mirror is whistling how can i fix this???
View 4 RepliesI have a 2007 2.0T, and the signal light on the driver's side mirror flashes instead of blinking. I have looked around and not been able to find any loose wires or ones that look damaged. I also noticed yesterday that the left rear signal has led's missing, and it looks like it shorted out. I am thinking the 2 are more than likely related.
View 2 RepliesI've searched but it seemed to lack a definitive fix. One mentioned felt glued into a crevice behind the mirror, but was not very explanatory since the pictures which were needed to understand where things went have since gone dead.
View 5 RepliesJust a few days ago I noticed a new rattling sound from the rear shelf (2012 SEL). Showed it to the dealership a few days. They are going to have a look at it next week.
I tried pressing at various placed with my hand but could not pinpoint where it was coming from but it appeared to be somewhere from within the rear shelf on the driver side. Sounding like some loose plastic clanking against some metal.
Thought I'd share this since the car appears to have this recurring issue of rattling from various places.
I have a 2000 V6 Passat and last week, when I tried to open the side mirrors from their fold flat position, they would not open. It was cold out (about 20 degrees) and I thought the mirrors might be frozen so I turned on the heated mirrors. They frost was removed from the mirrors, but they still would not open and I manually pushed the mirrors back into their normal location. I can adjust both the driver and passenger mirrors from the inside control knob. I have checked the mirror fuse and its ok. Is there a relay or other fuse that would control the fold flat motor?
View 1 RepliesSo, I have heard a little bit about the oil pump bolt issue. However, I am still confused. Was this issue fixed for the 2008 model and what are the symptoms? I changed out my valve cover last night due to a PCV valve failure. The car is running great except there is a slight rattling sound coming from the drivers side of the engine at idle. I know I left nothing around the car that could have gotten in the motor when the valve cover was off. This issue was not happening before changing the valve cover. What could be causing this noise, or is it typical for this motor?
View 3 RepliesSomething inside my driver's side rear door is loose and keeps rattling every time the base hits. I tried to take the panel out but I broke one of the Clips. Any diagram or a DIY on how to access inside and figure out what the problem is?
View 3 RepliesSo I noticed a while back when I bought this car that my driver's side side-view mirror was a little loose. I didn't think anything of it back then b/c it still worked fine. Then just a couple of weeks ago the driver's side side-view mirror fell & hung by the wires connected to it. I can put it back to how's is supposed to be but it's really loose now. So I looked at the plastic pieces that hold this thing in place and I saw this:
If I put it back where it's supposed to be it stays up there but is very loose!
I was driving down the street when another car side swiped mine. There wasn't any noticeable damage, but the side mirror on my driver side popped out.
It doesn't look like anything is actually broken. The mirror just popped out. Can I pop it back in or will I need to get it looked at?
The reason I ask is I didn't notice any other parts of the mirror on the street, but can't seem to get it to pop back in.
I've just finished installing Driver Side Puddle Lights just under the mirror. I still haven't coded it yet.
[URL]..................... I ran into a problem:
As I want to use the electrical mirrors to adjust my driver side mirror, passenger side mirror moves too. Is it possible that these faults caused by not coded ECU?
I connected ground wire of my LED to blue and black cable connected to the mirror and ran another wire from unit 10 in 16 pin door connector to live wire from my LED.
My driver side seat heater stopped working, but the passenger side still works great, if its just like a loose switch (just had a stereo installed like 4 months ago) or is the actual heater bad itself.
View 8 RepliesThe other day I was sitting in my car and noticed my mirror on my driver side looked off, it was out of line, I went to go touch it and poof the mirror falls into my hand so i do have the mirror (not broken), how do I install the mirror back ?? I'm guessing it uses a glue but then how would that work with the heated mirror component? tried looking for a DIY and can't find anything.
View 6 RepliesI am not sure where or how or even what parts to buy? It looks like the mirror itself and the wiring is ok and that only the frame or structure that held it on is broken? Is there someone out there that can refer me to a parts diagram or simple instructions that I can follow to fix it?
View 4 RepliesI've noticed a slight distortion on my driver's side mirror. If I move my head left to right and back, I can see some 'wobble' across the face. I wonder if the cold has anything to do with it?
View 9 RepliesWell I took the GX into a rough part of town in and literally left the car parked for 30 minutes, and I come back to find the drivers side mirror missing. Good news is, the thieves unplugged it, dare I say professionally and I have no ripped or spliced wires, everything is in tact. I found a mint condition mirror on ebay and bought it for a fraction of the cost the stealership would charge, however as simple as it looks, it is a bit difficult to snap the mirror onto the white plastic piece. I do not want to apply too much pressure and crack the mirror from the front. Any hacks on an easier way to put it in?
View 7 RepliesI guess I put some scratches in the drivers (left) side door mirror. My micro fiber towel must have had some forein material in it. if I can order and just replace the mirror part? or do I have to order the complete assembly? It's a 2014 Avalon XLE with the heated mirror option. At certain agles I see swearl scratches right in the middle of the mirror.
View 5 RepliesI've had this issue for quite a while. on and off for the beginning of me owning the car and now pretty much all the time. The driver side mirror will not tilt down or up. Only side to side. The passenger side works fine and even tilts down when i reverse.
