I have a 2000 Passat and one day the the alarm remote just stopped working. I bought new batteries for it but it didn't work. Shortly after that my A/C started taking about a 1/2 hour to start working. What is the reason for both of these to start acting up?
View 1 RepliesI had a remote start installed on my santa fe and initially it worked great. Recently it stopped working correctly. The car still starts but my heat/defrost will no longer turn on. I have tried every combination possible but when I get in the car the heat is turned completely off and will only turn on when I put the key in the ignition and manually start the car.
View 1 RepliesTonight the wife when she got home set the car's alarm off and after she turned it off none of our remote starter fobs will function (lock, unlock, alarm..)
The factory fobs still work fine.
Am I stuck going back to Hyundai to get the remote starter fobs fixed ?
I've got a 04 Passat TDI wagon with factory keyless locks. The remote/keyless entry range sucks! And yes I put a new battery in it. I've had cheapo alarms operate much further than this factory system. Can I extend the range somehow? Does the keyless transmit through the antenna? Are there any range boosters or ways to make this a real world usable feature?

Got out of the car (2007) and locked it with the remote. The alarm light flashed quickly multiple times, almost like something was wrong, door not closed tight, etc. The doors locked, but it would not give me the audible beep that it normally does. Went around and opened and closed all doors and trunk to make sure they were closed tight, and they were.
So my remote and main key got into a washing machine...Put new batteries in it but no go. Car does not start with either main key or valet. When I unlock the driver side door with either key, engine does not start and alarm goes off immediately. From searching the forums I assume I have 15 seconds from opening door and I am well within 15 seconds. Remote should not be necessary as transponder used to validating key is a passive RFID in the key part.
Dealership so far has been unuseful. I told them I can't start the car and they said yeah come in and we'll program you a new remote. When I got there (by motorcycle) they told me they need the car. It's a 2000 Passat GLX V6.
I have a 2000 VW Passat GLX with the Monsoon system. 3 weeks ago I had a Kenwood x 696 installed by Car Toys and everything is great.
That is until I turn my car off for over 24 hours.. at that point it no longer starts. When I had my stock radio in there were times that I would leave my car off 2 to 4 days at a time and never had any issues.
I had the battery tested and there are no issues. Then I got all of the electronics checked out and it was determined that the Monsoon amp was staying on when the car is turned off.
On Saturday I took the car back to Car Toys and they told me that it was not the stereo. They found something that told them to reset the amp by pulling the fuse and that most likely that would fix the issue. This was Saturday and my car didn't start today.
Last night I filled up my gas tank and got back in the car, started it up and the top section of the computer screen on the dash that displays the radio information/volume, etc was off. The steering wheel volume controls no longer work either. However, the cruise control on the other side works as well as the rest of the computer to the left of the speedometer. The radio also works just fine as well. What the problem is? Is it something that I could have somehow turned off and can turn right back on (hopefully)?
View 7 RepliesSo, last night I go to turn on the high beams on my 2002 Passat (pushing the bar on the left of the steering column forward) ... and nothing happens. The bar clicks into place as it should, but no high beams. The little indicator light on the dashboard does not come on, either.
I try to flash my high beams, and that DOES work. The brights come on, and the little indicator lights up when the beams engage.
So ... I know it's not a fuse, since the lights are actually functioning. What part/switch/relay/whatever needs to be replaced to get this fixed? I feel like this would involve me needing to pull apart the mechanism in the steering column, but I hope not ...
I have a 99 V6 B5 sedan & the tiptronic function is no longer working but the transmission works fine. When you place the transmission in tiptronic mode the transmission continues to stay in D. Is there a possibility that there is a faulty relay or some electrical malfunction?
View 2 RepliesI own a 2005 Volkswagon Passat, and took it to my mechanic yesterday to get a sticker and my new summer tires put on. When I picked up the car, the passenger side speaker is no longer working. About a month ago I took my car to a specialist to have an aftermarket radio put in for me that I got for my birthday so I can listen to my iPod. Why my passenger side speaker is not working anymore? Does it have anything to do with what my mechanic might have messed up when putting the new tires on?
View 5 RepliesI have changed the batteries in the remote for my MY 2000 Jetta MKIV VR6. Now the remote is not working. A search suggests I need to program the remote using a specific procedure. Alas, I have found various procedures, and so far none has worked.
First of all, I have two keys, Both were functional. One still is.
What I tried:
-Put key with fob in ignition and turn key to accessory mode position.
-Wait 5 seconds
-Hold lock button on 5 down for 10 seconds.
-Turn ignition off and remove key.
-Close doors on car and trey to lock/unlock - not working!
I'm sure I can find a few more suggested methods, but what's the proper method?
I haven't been able to get my 98/b5 started for 2 days now. Heres what I've noticed, key fob not working (changed batteries) put key in ignition and the alarm goes off. I pulled the CCM and it is dry as a bone. Even the carpet is dry. I've read about broken or corroded wires, but I can't seem to find any. Something is causing the alarm to imobilize the car.
View 10 RepliesI checked all the fuses and they're all ok. My windows will not go down. The alarm won't arm, the doors won't lock with the key fob, my mirrors won't Adjust. I can't figure this one out. All the fuses checked out ok.
View 2 RepliesI just pick up a 2000 VW Passat and the next day the alarm started going off. Non-stop honking, doors locking, etc. Pulled back the carpet near module box and there was a ton of water. Water in the box. Board in the box needs replaced and I would like to look for it online vs buying thru the dealership. Also, I'm trying to find out the part # or exact name of the part so I can look it up. I hate dealing with the dealership so I'm trying to find out what I can online before spending half my day on the phone being transferred and put on hold over and over.
View 4 RepliesSister have problems with her 2000 Passat. She bought the car new and has dumped way too much money into this thing since then, just keeping it going. First off, some valet broke her glove box so i would like to know if there is anywhere to buy parts at a good price, a trusted place. Secondly, when she starts the car up an alarm goes off on the display and says "STOP: Brake Fault" but apparently a tech that she trusts says her brakes are fine minus the fact that the FP brake is missing a "pin", claimed to be fixed at the dealer but wasn't.
As well as she throws a cel pertaining to a?Secondary airflow valve? Lastly, she has been holding onto some little plastic piece that fell off somewhere on the inside. It looks like half of a smurf hat or a comma if that makes it easier to visualize. Part numbers on the back are 3B085854801C Donnelly 423 1919. I do all the work on my own car but have a bit of a time working on things on this VW. They really don't like people working on these outside the dealer, but she is looking to get this stuff repaired along with a rear window off track, and that's insane.
My Key Fob buttons stopped working, I can't remote lock/unlock the doors or truck anymore with the key. It will still open the doors and start the car however. My thought is the battery is dead. 2 Questions.
First, how do I change the battery?
Second, does the key have to be reprogrammed? If so, can I do it, or is that a dealer thing?
My 2005 Prius is 6 and a half years old and I have encountered a problem with an outside alarm that is one beep about 2 seconds long. I have checked my manual and I have found two possibilities, but, they don't seem to apply. Last week was the first time I had to go in and reset my maintenance needed reminder because my service station forgot to reset it after the last oil change. I am afraid in the severel attempts to do this I might have reset something else as well!
The outside 2 second beep occurs when the car is in my garage and the car is NOT locked. It also only occurs if I am outside of the car and have the key fob with me. It happens with either key fob near the car. If I lock the car I don't have a problem. It is as if everytime I come near the car with my key fob that it is reminding me that the car is unlocked.
I'm at a complete loss, My drivers side back door has stopped working, Alarm, window and lock, I've checked my fuses, and it seems i only have 3 doors in the fuse box, what are the numbers to the door fuses in the box.
View 9 RepliesI have a 2007 3.6 wagon. Tonight, I opened the tailgate with the remote and when I pushed the button on the gate to close it, nothing happened. The close button has suddenly stopped working. I called the dealer and he told me to push it down by hand. That's fine for now, but I want the button working.
There isn't something I did wrong to get the button to refuse to close the door is there? I am assuming the button is broken and needs to be replaced, unless someone tells me that this is a common problem and there is an easy fix.
For 2015 we had the ability to use our key fob to start our cars. I did this nearly everyday, doing the 1 press pause 2 press pause 3 press and hold.. this used to work, suddenly it no longer works.
Since this featured was not even featured in our manuals, I doubt I'd find a solution there. Did Lexus zap my car and ability to start it, remote app from phone works fine.
