so i just bought a brand new 99 passat 1.8T... with 112,000 one it and for some reason the overhead light isnt working. the previous owner said he had tested the bulbs but for some reason he couldn't get it to work. is there a fuse or something that might be the cause of it not working? Also the sunroof dial works just fine which makes me wonder if it is something as simple as a fuse.

View 11 RepliesI have a 99 passat, v6, 5 speed , 110k. ABS light was flashing for past 6 months and I decided to have module replaced by another used one. So put everything back together and ABS light is still on (ok, maybe bad used unit too) but I have another problem now, my rpm's are not working and oil light starts flashing too. So I unplugged ABS and my rpm's came back, oil light is not flashing any more. I am little confused now, is there a wiring problem that just happened in a bad time ot these two are related? Car does have a traction control too.

View 7 RepliesAsides from the myriad of other gremlins associated with our Tregs, my wife's has developed a problem in which the passenger side Xenon Head lamp stops working. When this occurs there is a corresponding warning on the MFI (which is stuck on warning because of the tire pressure module issue). If you turn the vehicle off, sometimes it resets and comes back on - other times it does not.

my 07 Camry has about 80k miles on her. I got fed up with the boring stock head unit and decided to get a new 8" headunit that would match the interior touch screen and all. Anyways I'm a fan of my AC as I normally use it. I took it to the audio shop to get my new headunit installed. I drive a couple hours enjoying it and decide to put on the ac. My problem is The air conditioning is only coming out of the passenger side now very cold and stale warm air is coming from the driver side vents. I can't figure it out. I got upset and went back to the shop to see if maybe they did something wrong and didn't hook something up correctly.
So they did everything they could and showed me that it wasn't any of there doing and that it's extremely "coincidental" that this happened immediately after they installed it. Anyways I'm also noticing that the light pointer above the dial on all 3 dials on the AC unit are not lighting up. And the light I am talking about is the pointer light that points and which measure of heat/cool comes out. The middle buttons still work and are lighting up as well as the off/on ac portions night back lights are working properly.
Also I have only the standard AC unit. Not dual climate. All my vents are set correctly as I never really mess with them. is there a possibility they could have damaged the Blend Door actuator. And know where the blend door actuator is located on a camry?
I noticed my 3rd. brake light is not working. I never see the car driving down the road. My wife was just behind me and noticed so how long it has been this way. Can it burn out I thought it was LCD? does it have it's own fuse? My owners manual is at home. I will have to look into it, the dealer could not give me much info other than to bring it in.

My 2009 Sonata GLS stock sat radio, dvd head unit stopped working. Appears no power to it, won't light up or anything? Looked at the fuse shows OK? The radio / dvd fuse circuit, shows the led-digital clock is also on same circuit. The clock is working fine. I can not find any of the radio's wiring loose or disconnected. Has my radio gone bad already? Car has ~ 14,300 mi on it.

I've checked all connections and batteries are good, checked all fuses, where to start with this?
My Dome lights don't work when you open the door. I can manually turn them on though. Also door ajar light is on. Are these issues caused by the door latch switch? Also have no fog lights I replaced the switch and bulbs. I have a 2003 F250.....
View 2 RepliesI was wondering if this seems reasonable. I just bought a used 2008 Prius top trim package with 107,00 miles on it this last month. The first day I owned it a check engine light was triggered. The guy I bought it from hooked it up to his computer and cleared it to then try to trigger it again. This happened when I first turned on the car. I started backing and then it turned on. I didn't know what caused it as we couldn't trigger the response again. It's been a few weeks now and 1 trip to the shop for some repairs. There have been no problems what-so-ever since then and my Prius just started getting close to the 50 MPH as advertised after a tune up.
Today when I'm driving, as the seller did mention before could happen, the right headlight turned off. As he had told me before, just turning the lights off and turning them back on will get it working again. I did this and as soon as I did the check engine light came on. I go back to the night I originally had it happen and I was probably in the process of turning on my lights.
I just purchased a new to me 05.
PO, had a pioneer H/U installed, however the 4 rear speakers have no sound.
The rear of the radio seems to have everything plugged into it correctly.
My steering wheel controls work fine.
I'm guessing the rear volume/controller is canceling out the rear speakers???
If so what can I do to make the speakers play? I don't need the rear control to work.
99 VW Passat V6 From the drivers door switch, the lock button and power window switch does nothing to the front passenger door. (Locking and windows work on all other doors from drivers switch). From the front passenger door, the window button works fine. From the front passenger door, pressing the lock button will lock the door for a split second, then it just unlocks again on its own. There are also no lights on the passenger door switches. (All other doors show the red light behind the switches). Unlocking the car/locking from the drivers side outside keyhole does nothing on passenger door. I tried all different switches from another Passat with the same results. Tried all fuses and its all okay. Holding the key in the door handle only opens the three windows, and not the drivers window.
View 2 RepliesLast week I got the airbag light up on my dash board. Then, my horn stopped working along with the radio controls. Now they are telling me its not being covered because of my aftermarket modifications. Now my aftermarket modifications are the following done through Vag-Com: DRLs disabled for HIDs, Remote up/down for windows.
So they are telling me they can not communicate with the module. Correct me if I'm wrong here, and I most likely am since I don't know much about this, but aren't they unable to connect to the module because.... it's defective?
What's the quickest way to check if the Check Engline Light is working?
I took my passat to get apr chipped. The shop spent few hours, and even worked with APR, and they could not figure what the issue is.
They were able to upload the software fine, but couldn't figure out which mode it is in, as they say my CEL isn't flashing, and therefore unable to switch modes.
APR got the shop to flash back the original software, and had them do a 'test'. I was told they tried unplugging a sensor, and the CEL didn't show, and made the conclusion that there is an issue with my ECU, which got me worried.
I am guessing they unplugged the MAF, as it is the easiest/closest sensor to unplug. And from what I read, it might not throw a CEL. In addition, APR's website state some B6 Passat Auto only support 1 mode.
Is there any easy way to test if my CEL is working or not? It lights up for a quick sec when I start the car, so I know it is not a fuse or bulb issue. Could it really be my ECU that is faulty? or is my ECU working ok, but only support 1 mode?
When the engine is working hard and the head (s) unseat, where does the coolant go, in the oil, to the atmosphere or both?
There are times when I am pulling heavy ( 18 to 20K+) pulling up a hill from a stop, and I can hear the engine working hard, then I later check the coolant level and it has drop.
Where did it go?
I have a OEM base model head unit and today both front speakers stopped working out of nowhere I pulled the head unit out to see if everything was plugged in and it all was snug.. I checked all the fuses too. Is there any other way to check to see if its my head unit thats bad or the speakers? And I guess my second question is if I replace my head unit with a aftermarket one do I still need to retain the stock unit? My sunfire had that problem I needed to put my oem radio in the trunk and hook it into my new aftermarket one. I did try adjusting the fade and all the setting too with no luck.

View 14 RepliesLooking for a diagram of how the rear bulb set should be filled on a 98 Passat Estate. ie: with what bulb types go where. etc.
I have big problems with my brake lights not working when the lights are turned on, then when I change bulbs about, they work but the rear lights do not come on etc, or one side does. All bulbs work, but not as they should together. I know I have a right mess of bulbs in the wrong place. The car is just new to me so trying to sort. I also have one empty bulb set on the outer side of each bulb holder unit and so wonder what this is for and if it is used.
