I found out today that my left rear brake light bulb is out. How do I replace it? And where do I buy the light bulb? The manual doesn't say the model # and instructions.

Looking for a diagram of how the rear bulb set should be filled on a 98 Passat Estate. ie: with what bulb types go where. etc.
I have big problems with my brake lights not working when the lights are turned on, then when I change bulbs about, they work but the rear lights do not come on etc, or one side does. All bulbs work, but not as they should together. I know I have a right mess of bulbs in the wrong place. The car is just new to me so trying to sort. I also have one empty bulb set on the outer side of each bulb holder unit and so wonder what this is for and if it is used.

I am trying to replace the rear light bulb (top of two) on the passenger side. It doesn't illuminate when I press the brake. What kind of light bulb does it take?? There is a removable compartment but I am having a hard time removing the harness where the bulbs are located . I see two clips but I still can not pull it out to access the defective bulb.

The problem I have is the access cover to the bulb cant be removed so I need to know if the bumper and lamps need to be removed?
I just had a remote start installed with a turbo timer that works off of the parking brake being engaged. No matter how hard I press it the light does not go on, however when the installer probed the sensor to ground it, it worked fine.What part this is that needs to be replaced. The stealership quoted me at 200 something for a whole parking brake assembly.
View 14 RepliesThis has manual knobs - NOT CLIMATRONIC. This actually happened months ago, I bought a new bulb, pulled trim piece and it looked like a PITA. It appeared that I would have to remove the radio to pull the climate control module, but I didn't want to bother w that at the moment. I'm sorta hoping that it is like the B5 Passats in that the bulb is just behind one of the knobs and it's accessible by pulling the knob off. I wasn't sure though, so I didn't want to start pulling on stuff till it broke.

View 2 RepliesI have a 2003 W8 wagon and my front turn signal bulb went out. I need to replace it, but am having some problems. I removed the high beam cover to get to the turn signal socket, but I am having problem removing the socket. I was able to turn the socket slightly and was hoping I could just pull it back, unfortunately it doesn't seem to want to move. Is there a trick to remove the turn signal socket so I can remove the bulb? I don't want to force anything in fear of breaking something. there has to be a way.

View 1 RepliesThe lights on the knob which selects the where to push the blower air have gone out. I took the dash fucia out and took the that piece that controls the heat and fan speed out. But I don't understand how to open it up to replace the bulb. There are little tabs around the piece which I tried to open but the knobs are connected to something inside so I didn't want to pull too hard and risk breaking something.
How I can change the light bulb? I attached a picture to the post and circled in red the area I'm referring to where the light bulb has gone out.
2000 F 350 super cab 4wd 7,3 auto srw long bed. Problems with emergency/parking. My cable probably needs replacing. My pedal will go to floor when setting the e brake. I use very infrequently, but when loading hay on the big bale trailer. I could ignore it but when hit the slightest bump the brake pedal goes down just enough to activate the brake light on the dash and activates the bell/chime until I raise the brake pedal up.
When searching this site one post stated that should not happen. I am trying to figure out if I need to replace the front cable, intermediate cable, and rear cables. And do I need to replace the foot pedal assembly as well. What are the part numbers for these. I generally order from who ever took over Edpartguys for original ford parts. I have new cryo rotors and Hawke brake pads.
Recently purchased a 2001.5 Passat, and of course got the mod itch... started with an Neuspeed ECU flash & DV, along with K&N... and now I'm in the process of suspension & exhaust... Unfortunately the past week, I was told that I had a tail light out.... Upper Rear Passenger Side Parking/Brake Light.... So I figure, hit up the parts store, grab a new bulb, and I'll be set...
Well, come to find out that it's not the bulb....
The light works when I brake, so 1/2 of the bulb is good... but the parking lights won't come on that side, but on the driver side everything is good..... even with the new bulbs..(replaced both on that side[passenger] just to be sure.)
So, just out of curiosity, I took one of the old bulbs that I thought was shot, and put it in the drivers side, and what do you know... it worked flawlessly on that side...
So, I'm led to believe I have a short... or a wiring problem somewhere... but I can't see how this could have just happened without really messing with anything... I mean, I disabled the DRL's.... but I even undid that(small piece of tape covering the B prong)... just to make sure..
One of my neighbors has a Passat and the rear middle brake light on the wing will not turn off... Every time I've driven by for the past 3 days or so it's been on. I told the girl about it and she said they can't get it to turn off. I drive a Jetta and a 91 at that... but I was wondering, is this a common problem with Passats? I felt the need to investigate, being a VW enthusiast

View 2 RepliesAfter losing 4 bulbs trying to put the new light in from the bottom on my 07 Sonata's high brake light, I finally figured out, that if you take a dremel or other small cutting tool and cut of the tab on the bulb socket, the whole assembly will slide back into place from the top. Cut the tab even with the holes where the two wires go into the socket, and you should have no problems.
View 23 RepliesI have a Chevy Classic 2005, and I noticed today that a brake light on the right side is not working when I push down on the brake pedal. It looks like there are two bulbs in the right side brake light, the one that's not working being the rightmost one. However, this particular bulb does turn on when I use my Car remote to lock/unlock my Car. Does this mean that the bulb is functioning and the problem lies elsewhere, or should I replace the bulb? I had some repairs done to the brake light on the side in question last month after an accident that damaged he light covers, so I am wondering if I should contact the repair center in case it's related to the repair.

Am I correct in assuming I have to pull back the carpet, then remove 2 nuts/washers, and then remove the taillight lens/housing to replace the bulb? Any recommendations on bulb or just stay with OEM?
