View 3 RepliesI'm trying to swap out the shift boot of my 2004 (B5.5) Passat 1.8T 4Motion and running into trouble. According to the instructions from the new Red Line shift boot, I should be able to separate the two collars that hold the boot to the knob. However, the white post that's part of the knob assembly has a piece that's bigger than the lower black collar, preventing it from being removed. Is there something I'm missing? How can I remove the boot without damaging the existing knob assembly?

View 3 RepliesI've got a 2001.5 v6 passat w/ auto and my shift knob has this cool burl veneer on it. I think it's real wood but it's pretty thin and it's got cracks on the front and the back. I can't see any simple way to remove the stick so that I can try to glue it. How to do that. But it's a standard tiprtonic shifter ... probably the standard on that model.
View 3 RepliesI am trying to remove the shift knob and the steps are entirely different than the DSG knobs from the GTI; You take just the boot off (not the assembly) then underneath is a hose clamp which needs to be removed. (this is not on the GTI version); I cannot figure out how to get this clamp off; I guess you need hose clamp pliers? And then do you need a new hose clamp? Won't it ruin the clamp?

View 1 RepliesI tried searching and googling but came to no results, unless its like similar trucks. How do the 4x4 shift remove? I have an 04 F250 and someone decided to put the shift on sideways so the 4HI and etc read upside down before I purchased the truck. Do I just rip the thing off?

The existing manuals do not work, they show a knob previous to this one and don't apply.

I have a '98 F150 front 60/40 seat going into a '77 shortbox F100. I've searched and found a lot of info on repairing a lumbar support but nobody seems to mention how to get the stupid off. I don't want to break anything but I can't see any screws or clips. Does it just pull off with force?
View 1 RepliesI got into my 1998 Saturn SL2 (Gold) and the stick shift was entirely loose. It is like the stick is no longer connected to anything. What the problem is and how much it might cost to fix? Keep in mind, the car has almost 230K miles on it.

I know how to get the console off, but How do I take just the 'shift knob' off? I need to get the flexible piece underneath it off so we can wash all the parts.. I have the upper console part off.

My oils are all ok and no loss of performance of the car except they consume a little bit more gas (around 10L/100Km. The last time this happened the arm shifter vibrated.
about a week ago, I noticed my stick shift sitting a little lower than normal, and now I have to actually engage clutch, then pull upward on the stick shift before I can shift gears without a problem, if I do not pull up, the car just won't shift.
