Nov 1, 2007
When I braked today, I noticed a noise. IT's like *clink* noise everytime I brake. Is it cuz Im braking too hard?

View 1 RepliesThe problem occurs intermittently... about once every few months. The hand brake would be loose (no click) pulling the handle up to engage. If I pull the handle up and down many times, somehow it would return to normal.! I searched my Bentley manual but didn't see any page about the hand brake mechanism. Passat 2002, 1.8t...
View 1 RepliesI have a 2010 Santa Fe w/ ~25,000km. Yesterday, I noticed that after depressing the brake pedal (while driving) i hear a wheezing noise and then a click right before i come to a complete stop. When i am stationary, and i depress the break pedal, i hear the clicking noise but no wheezing sound.
I just took it into service today and even drove around the lot with one of the service techs and he says its normal. That the clicking noise is coming from the shifter release. I don't believe i heard this sound when i bought it, nor any other time till yesterday. The sound is driving me crazy! This cant be normal .... can it?
It feels a strange noise like a shutter closes around Gear Nob/Handle while applying brake and the brake pedal is half pushed, approximately;
Even the car is in Parking Position and you push brake pedal, it half way pushed and Tick/Click noise like a shutter closing sound and then goes.
It quite hear able noise and coming from some time now.
I think something is wrong with my brake. I only have less than 3k miles on my 2012 Elantra GLS. But now, when I apply brake to stop from either a very low speed or high speed, I always hear a clear click (only one) sound which probably comes from under the car or brake pad (front driver's side). It sounds like metals collision. When idling, applying brake does not make any sound.
View 12 RepliesMy B5 has all three brake lights coming on (including top highline brake light in estate model) when the headlights are turned on. When the brake is pressed, they all stay on and glow a bit brighter.. Is this normal?
When the headlights are not turned on, the brakes work ok with all three rear red lights only coming on when the brake pedal is pressed.
I changed the bulb in my driver side brake light - routine -done a zillion bulb changes on my car. This time however the dashboard lights up every time I brake!! What gives? Something to do with the brake pedal triggering the brake light button in the footwell area under the dash? Its a 2000 Passat 1.8T sedan - manual tranny.

View 3 RepliesI hear that noise from back.."click".."click".... a metal sound click noise intermittently/ randomly from rear. I took it to the dealer and the work order said "noise suppression ordered" but then i went for the servicing over the weekend and the customer service was saying "the technician has to talk to the part manager to see when the part will arrive, could take a month since this is not a genuine VW part".. What a noise suppression is? that could mitagate/reduce or eliminate this weird clicking noise coming from rear randomly?
View 11 RepliesI drove two days ago. Yesterday I didn't drive. I just walked out to start my car and it won't start. It keeps cranking (click noise). The lights are turned on, locks response to my remote, radio works, but I noticed the clock was set back to 12:00 and it's 4:00pm right now.
Two days ago, I noticed my car hesitate a little when I accelerated to 35-40.
I drive a 99 1.8 t Passat
Turns out i needed a battery replace. my battery was having 67 amps compared to 500 requirement.
Question: Does low battery life cause the car to hesitate (like as if the cylinder misfire) at 35-40 mph acceleration?
Not sure if normal or a malfunction. Twice over the winter here in MN I have been accelerating and when I hit a icy patch the car made a loud thump/clunk noise loud enough to make be think something broke or that I ran over something like an ice block.
I had it looked at by the dealer and everything is suppose to be working normal. I tried to replicate ite on some ice but the traction control kicks in like normal with the flashing and all. I don't normally accelerate hard so it's rare I get traction control to activate.
Car is TDI SE
my 99 durango's brake light and abs light came on at the same time could these have anything to do with each other?
View 14 RepliesThe truck in my sig. makes a clicking noise when it's in the park and I press the brake pedal down. The click is coming from somewhere up high in the steering column. It doesn't make the clicking noise in any other gear only in park. Might be normal but I don't remember hearing it before?
View 9 RepliesHaving issue with E-Brake when car has been park for a long time. Mine makes noise every time I leave my car park for a long time, like as if the brakes are stuck on the rotor. It would make a noise as if my rotors were rusty, and would diminish after the car has been driven around town for quite some time, but does not completely go away.
View 12 RepliesI changed my front rotor and brake pad with the oem parts last week. However, it has noise come out everytime when I touch the brake. Is it normal? Or does it need times for break down? Or I did something wrong in installing that cost the noise?
View 13 RepliesSo - I'm sitting at my VW dealership, hoping that their can figure out why I'm getting a high pitched, miserable squealing sound, every time I depress my brake pedal. It's metallic sounding, and with the history of brake issues I've had in owning other VW models, I just figured it was the brake pads they use. Sounds like their tech believes it is an issue with the tires??? I've got an 04 Phaeton with roughly 38K miles on it - and it's supposedly "certified"....
View 6 RepliesJust had this installed and really like it. Works better than rain sensors in my wife's ES350. I hear a "click" every single time the wipers begin to actuate coming from under the dash. Happens every single wipe which is annoying. No sound when I turn off the rain tracker and let wipers actuate using wiper stalk controls.
View 4 RepliesThis morning the Shift Knob made a click every time I selected a gear, for about an hour, then it went away.
It was colder than almost ever here (Berkeley, CA) last nite, 30F. But there was no click back in '05 at 10F (in Prudhoe Bay, AK).
Mechanics (even the dealership!) say not to worry--probably a plastic part--just advised me to shift gently.
I've got a Dodge Caliber '07 that has a weird Click that happens most of the time when I start engaging the clutch, it doesn't happen when starting out in first gear, but when shifting to 2nd, 3rd and now as it's aging sometimes 4th and very infrequently 5th. It happens when I pass the friction point on the clutch and can feel it in the pedal - as a note - I've found that if I gingerly/slowly release the pedal through the friction point it won't do it most of the time.
It is fairly loud at lower gears, as I can sometimes hear it with the window open bouncing off buildings or things. I'm just wondering what this is?
I have asked at the dealership several times already about this - but the mechanic always reported nothing found and that it's normal for a transmission with that many km (I'm in Canada). I bought the car with 50,000 km and it has done it the whole time - I've now got 128,000 km.
My first thought was something with a bearing or something - as it almost sounds like the gear isn't quite in place and when the torque starts being transferred it clicks into place... I'm not sure - which is why I'm here!
Just noticed a clicking noise every time I push the clutch pedal down, I had my wife push the pedal while I listened under the hood and no noise it's coming from the clutch assembly under the dash! It's a 2013 only 4000km's on it so it's not like anything should be worn from over use etc. It's when I had the radio off driving I heard it, not super loud but more curiosity if it's normal noise from a clutch assembly.
As well the odd time I hear well my wife heard and pointed it out to me, when I push the brake pedal (more when we get in the car in the morning after sitting overnight) the same kinda sound more like when brake pad's are gently popping loose I guess you could say!? Like I said its mainly only after sitting for awhile, but we did hear it the odd time just as I go to slow down and only a quick 'click' again not deadly or anything more annoying that the car is brand new and we went brand new cause we were tired of creepy older cars we'd previously driven! I'm wondering if that may be exactly why its doing it since its new and need's to be used a bit to loosen up, this is the actually the first brand new no previous drivers car I've had!
I am having a problem with my 2004 Toyota Camry XLE V6 brakes. For the past couple months I keep seeing the brake dash light turn on and the brake fluid is constantly going down but I don't see any wet spots under the car. I needed rear pads so I kept thinking that it was just the fluid going down because of worn rear pads but I changed the rear brakes last weekend and still have this problem. Today when I went to drive the car for the first time of the day I heard this loud noise every time I stepped on the brake pedal. I checked the brake fluid level and it was a little below low so I filled it back up. I kind of feel like I've had to fully press down on the brake pedal lately to stop the car. There's plenty of brake power but I feel like I have to push all the way down and I don't remember it being like that.
