Passat (B5) :: 1999 C6 AC Not Working At Idle - Fan Not Coming On

I have a 99 passat v6. ac works great when im moving, but when i stop it goes warm. I checked to see if the clutch and fan were coming on at idle and they weren't. I even tried revving it up and still nothing. I jacked up the front end and put it in drive. Once the wheels started going both the ac clutch and fan kicked in. then when u hit the brakes and stop they turn off. What would cause this?

Just purchased a 99 passat v6 and it has a low idle surge and stalls when coming to a stop.It runs fine until it heats up about 15 min. then it surges up and down and stalls.

We have a 2004 Passat V6, and we've noticed at idle, the engine makes 5 or six fast ticks, stops, then goes again, over and over. I tried searching but didn't find anything relevant.
Also, sometime when the AC is on, all of a sudden the air stops coming out, but the blower still roars, then a couple seconds later the air comes rushing out of the vents again.

I have a 2001 1.8t tip wagon(75k) that that is starting to worry me. It makes a tapping sound (coming from back of valve cover) AFTER it is warmed up at idle. When the RPMs go over 1,000, the sound goes away. Is this the cam chain adjuster or tensioner??? Also, when the engine first starts up it makes a similar noise , only louder, for the first couple of seconds.

So, I have heard a little bit about the oil pump bolt issue. However, I am still confused. Was this issue fixed for the 2008 model and what are the symptoms? I changed out my valve cover last night due to a PCV valve failure. The car is running great except there is a slight rattling sound coming from the drivers side of the engine at idle. I know I left nothing around the car that could have gotten in the motor when the valve cover was off. This issue was not happening before changing the valve cover. What could be causing this noise, or is it typical for this motor?

Whenever my Passat is at idle I smell gas and it gets stronger the longer I'm stationary.Would this be part of that gas tank recall earlier this year or something else? VW didn't send me a recall notice on this.

I have a 2005 F350 diesel, 54000 miles. I was at a red light today, engine is idling normaly.. light turns green and I step on the throttle and get nothing. My truck is rolling (in drive) as if it were in nuetral. I shut the engine off and it does not start for 10 to 15 min. Then it fires up and seems to be running as if nothing happened.

I have a 1999 f-150 4x4 4.6 5spd manual 180,000 miles on the clock. My question is, when coming to a stop i push the clutch in an the idle hangs at about twice what it should be until i come to a complete stop then it drops to normal. It's not like somethings sticking cause it will stay at the high idle as long as were rolling but as soon as the wheels stop turning it drops down.

I noticed a couple weeks ago after starting the truck and turning on the a/c that nothing was coming out of the vents. I found it odd when after driving a few miles the a/c kicked in and started blowing cold air. Today I needed to put on the defrost and same thing, nothing came out of the vents. I drove around for a while hoping it would kick in just like the a/c did but nothing. I did check the fuses and relay. When you turn the control either to heat or a/c you can hear a clicking sound under the hood. It's trying to engage but nothing is coming out of the vents.

I have a '99 Passat and this doesnt happen all the time, but - when I'm idle or accelerating after stopping at a stop sign/light, the car has a bad hesitation and it jumps, then finally goes with no problem. Sometimes it feels as if the car is going to stall out.

I am hearing a weird like vibrating noise when the call is in DRIVE during idle like at a red light or stopped position only. Noise goes away when placed in Neutral or Park. The cars gotta be in drive to make the noise... My car is a 1999 Passat V6 AHA engine code by the way, only 20K on it...

1.8 turbo 99 passat that is smoking a thick white smoke, doesn't smell like oil, doesn't smell like coolant, not gas either. Compression checked good, no bubbles in the coolant, no coolant in the oil. It only does it when you let it idle for a while but when you drive it the smoke goes away, clears out so to speak. Its an automatic,wagon if that makes a difference.

so i just bought a brand new 99 passat 1.8T... with 112,000 one it and for some reason the overhead light isnt working. the previous owner said he had tested the bulbs but for some reason he couldn't get it to work. is there a fuse or something that might be the cause of it not working? Also the sunroof dial works just fine which makes me wonder if it is something as simple as a fuse.

I have a 99 1.8t my cruise control is not working. when i try to turn it on there's no light saying cruise on my dash. i let go of the gas to see if the cruise is working but nothing happens. what could be the reason? could it be one of the fuses?

When I start my 1999 1.8 petrol passat it needs some throttle to start, low idle speed, misfires, drop in idle, so boot the throtle full - still no pick up and sits on 1000 rpm busy backfiring away! It started after fitting a new windscreen wiper motor, battery was disconnected but went back ok, all other electrics work and no warning on the dash. Didn't touch anything in the engine bay nor were there any issues before I changed the wiper motor.

I got a 99 1.8t. Here's the deal, misfiring at idle, flashes battery light. alt and battery was checked and there great. it has a maf code, so I unplug the maf and still get the same misfiring. maf was fine be4 i tried cleaning it, now it throws the code. it had misfiring be4 i clean it also. next problem is it stutters and misses if i go wot in 4 or 5 gear and the batt light flashes it doesn't throw a misfire code. Also if I am idling and i floor it, it stutters and misses at lower rpm rage and then is fine at higher rpm range. i replaced plugs and gapped em right, i did a power balance test and the coils all are firing so is the injectors. I don't got vag but i do got a good obd2 scanner i was looking at the data wen car was off and i seen that if i floor it the tps only reads 77.7% . Also my timing says its 12 degrees and idle fuel pressure is fine i checked with a gauge. Pretty much misfiring with no codes thrown and flashing battery light.

So, I just picked up a 99 1.8T Wagon with 158k miles a couple days ago and after driving it a bit, I've noticed a couple things.
1. The coolant temp isn't reading, I assume this is probably the coolant sensor.
2. Occasionally the car will go into a rough idle and misfire when I put my foot on the gas. Could this just be a spark plug issue or something bigger? The PO did mention that he just replaced the plugs and I've read in previous threads about the subject that the 1.8ts are picky about plugs.

I just bought a 2002 v10 crew cab, everything great form the first 3 months, but then my coolant sensor stopped working, changed it, and the same thing! Only works a couple of times, and the truck started to rough idle a little, and now I have black smoke coming out of the exhaust!
