I replace an AEB motor in my Passat(1998), but for some odd reason the shift screen is inactive and fail to engage. Fluids have been refilled, reverse light comes on, but no go.

View 2 RepliesSo couple of days ago, I went shopping. no issues. after shopping i fired it up, no issues, put it reverse, car was shaking, put the car in neutral. No issues, put the car in drive car is shaking again. i started to drive no shaking, however the car felt like it had no power, I only felt shaking during switching from R TO N TO D. So I change to manual mode and see the gear was 3rd. i was not able to change gears manually, neither did the tranny switched them for me. I drove home about a 3 miles. shut the car off, restart it...gears and car drives normal. Took to dealership, they checked it...and of course no issues. Ihave 44k miles and 50k warranty expires next week, nice, huh? got another year of powetrain warranty left.
View 3 RepliesSo yesterday after running an errand I got home, after having dinner I was about to head out and, SURPRISE! The car wouldn't start... The engine doesn't turn, no lights on the gauges when inserting the key, no clicks.... the battery seems fine, as the radio works, the anti-theft/alarm works well, the 2nd key behaves the same way.
This morning, I called VW road side, the tow truck they sent couldn't take the car because it is in a tight spot and we can shift the car to neutral. We tried resetting the ECU by disconnecting the battery without success... What to do??
I've got 95k miles on my 2001.5 and have been noticing that the transmission seems to shift pretty hard. Today it seemed like it was hardest in the 3rd to 2nd downshift. I got it checked out a couple of months ago and the dealer said it was the throttle body (which I haven't cleaned yet).
View 5 Replies2002 passat wagon 1.8 automatic 210000km and fantastic running. Last week VW garage noticed some liquid around the transmission but weren't sure if it comes out of it. Might be from above transmission dripping on to it. They shampooed the transmission and will check next week where it exactly comes from.
What to do if the dealer tells me it is the transmission. This dealer is fabulous - actually treated me very fairly during the past 8 years. Car runs like a swiss watch and don't notice anything different shifting. I believe it is not worth it replacing a transmission for this old (but very good) car.
I have a 2000 passat v6 with a automatic transmission, I was on the highway yesterday and 2x the car shifted down by itself from 5th to 4th gear. I noticed when I bought the car it had a slight tranny leak which I assumed was from the seal drying up because the previous owner let the car sit for a little bit. The first day I bought the car she hesitated going from 4th to 5th for like 3 seconds but every day after that it has been fine. I have been told by some people to flush it and get new fluid and a filter, and then other people telling me that the tranny fluid is lifetime and if you flush it your going to blow the tranny up.... What should I do, the day it acted up I got to where I was going then the car sat for about 2 hours and on the way home on the interstate it was fine like nothing ever happened. I drove it to work today there and back and again no problem.

View 2 RepliesA few weeks ago, I received the triangle light in my 2007 Prius with 125k miles on it. When I took it to the dealer, they said that the hybrid battery needed to be replaced. A new battery was ordered & installed by the dealer, which took a couple weeks as the battery wasn't in stock. When I picked up the Prius this week, within driving it a couple miles, it was apparent the A/C wasn't working. I took it right back to the dealer who said they'd look into it. When the Service sales guy started it again, it made a very strange noise as well, which it never did before. The dealer has come back and said that not only has the A/C Compressor out but the ABS actuator is also failing. They are saying this has nothing to do with the battery replacement but both these items were working fine before having the battery replaced
View 1 RepliesI purchased a 2002 VW Passat Wagon two months ago. Upon Purchasing the Car the dealer notified me I would need to purchase a "Torque Converter." I failed to do so. Before I changed the oil, the car was running great! And, after the oil change. The car began to act up and the transmission would kick back!
After, I took it to a local dealer. They told me "Transmission Replacement is required," and Internal Slippage and Fluid Burnt.
I just don't understand, how the transmission began to act up after I changed the oil.
I can reverse the car great, and shift to drive.
I took my 2000 Honda Accord to the mechanic and he told me my transmission is failing. He suggested that I put in a re-built transmission. I trust my mechanic, but considering the car has 207,000 miles on it I am not sure if it is a wise investment. Besides the jerking the car is in good condition and have taken it to the same mechanic for maintenance since I bought it 14 years ago, but I am not sure how long a re-built transmission will last. I only need to get 2-3 more years out of this car until I save up enough money to buy a new car.
View 8 RepliesI have a 2004 camry 2.2L with 97,000, automatic. Yesterday it would start but had no acceleration and CEL. SO towed it home and scaned and got P2101, which said low accelerator motor. SO I cleaned the throttle body and everything was good and reset code. This morning same thing happened...it is around 18 degrees outside. After it warmed up outside no problem and no CEL? WTF? Obviously I have a problem with the throttle body when it's cold. What to try next?

I did replace a battery a ways back ... I can't remember if this started happening right after that or not ... I've lived with it for a while now and am annoyed enough at this point to fix it ... In case this comes up, this is the only remote I have for the car right now ... Bought it used and it only came with one ...
View 6 RepliesOne of the main on going problems I've had with my 2004 W8 is that the fuel injector wires have been failing, one at a time, a few months apart. So far 5 of the 8 have been replaced. (Actually they weave in an overlay wire set). Four were fixed under the factory warranty, and one was done after 50,000 miles with a (very) small amount of that cost covered by my Warranty Direct extended warranty.
In any case, a few days ago another wire failed. This time completely, causing one cylinder not to fire at all. (The previous times the failed wire just caused intermittent mis-fires). Anyway, this time VWoA got involved and has decided to replace the whole fuel injection wiring harness, on their dime! Even though I have 65,000 miles on the car.
2006 350 here. I was wondering if it would be possible to replace my Automatic tranny shift lever with one from a newer truck (08+). If possible, what exactly would need to be replaced?
View 1 RepliesHow to replace blower motor in 01 Prius. There are no way to get from to it from under the glove box.
Blower motor was working fine. I decided to remove cabin filter. Filter had not been changed for very long time. There was a lot of dirt, pine straw and leaves on top of the filter. When I removed the filter a lot of dirt fell inside the motor. Ever since then motor is working on and off. Often have to hit under the glove box and it works again for a while. Tried to remove the blower but could not get to it.
Several weeks ago, the blower motor in my 2010 stopped blowing. It came on within a day or so, but failed again, so I replaced it with a new part from Rock Auto: TYC 700249.
The new fan just stopped again. I plugged the harness in and out several times and it did briefly come on a few times, but clearly something else is going on.
I don't know if it's relevant, but after I took out the OEM fan, I experimented by removing the plate from its back that has wires and capacitors (actually, I don't know what I'm talking about) and connected the main prongs directly to a 12V battery. It came on right away. I installed the new fan anyway, figuring it was the plate/wires assembly portion that was bad. The "resistor?"
I'm looking for a replacement motor for a 5.4 08 vin v. Do the 9-10 motor with the same vin code v. I know intake is different but the heads are the same.
View 6 RepliesHow hard is it to change the A/C/Heater blower motor. I know about the switch problems but this is the blower motor. I'll probably clean it out and spray something in it before I replace it but I just wondered how hard it is to get to. On another note, this 4 wheel drive Santa Fe rocks in the snow! I can't believe what good traction it has!
