I have a 2005 Nissan Altima and when I turn my air conditioning on my car starts rattling and shaking on the passenger side as well has makes some noises. When I turn the air conditioner off the noises and the shakes goes away. Is this something I should go have looked at or is this a problem I may have to wait until the situation gets worse, such as no air conditioning?

View 2 RepliesI had new tires put on my 2011 Altima around 35,000 miles. I started noticing a hum, so I checked the mechanic notes and they said I had a bent right rear rim. So, I had them replace it immediately. The hum (which only happens specifically at 40mph and at 75 mph) remained so I attributed it to new tires and breaking in.
I took my car to a shop around 45k miles for a check engine light, which ended up being an ECM issue that required a dealer service. I also had him check the tires as the hum was still there. He just rotated the tires and sent me on my way. This is when the steering column started shaking, so I had the dealer check it out and they told me I had a bent rim! Go figure, I've been driving on this thing for about 10k miles.
So, I ordered a new rim and had a local tire place put it on and they showed me the bent rim. Now I thought this would solve things but I was wrong . I still fee the vibration in the steering column at high speeds and the annoying wah hum is still there.
I'm a little lost as to what the problem could be so I'm looking for some insight? Should I start with having the other 3 tires balanced? Could it be that the bent rim caused uneven wearing on my tires over the 10k miles and it may take time to even out? There's no noticeable wear on the tires to my seeing but I could be wrong. These tires are 50k mile tires. Could the bent rim have caused other unseen damage? Keep in mind the wheel they replaced is now on the rear.
I know another cause of shaking could be the rotors but as far as I know they're in good shape and breaking is still smooth. so if they were the issue causing vibration at high speeds I would surely feel it in the breaks.
So, my family owns a 2006 Nissan Altima, and it's developed a strange problem recently. It would start fine when cold, but then if I park it and come back 20 minutes later, it won't start again. Apparently this is a thing that happens with Altimas. Now for a while, it was starting after two or three tries, but now it just simply isn't turning over. When I watch it under the hood, it shudders some, and then there's a puff of warm air/exhaust, i don't know. I've read it might be the cam shaft sensor, but after replacing that the problem hasn't gone away, and a few people have said it might be the fuel pump, but I replaced that as well and it's still not starting up. I'm thinking i might try to replace the crankshaft sensor next but I thought I would ask here for advice and opinions just in case. This isnt the first time this has happened with this car, apparently - this happened once before, and the camshaft sensor being replaced fixed it.
View 15 RepliesI recently started noticing that a creaking sound occasionally (but increasingly) when turning my 2005 Nissan Altima. It seems to happen more after storms, significant temperature changes, and in the morning. It happens when turning in either direction.
It doesn't always happen, and I don't feel any grinding or disturbance in the wheel when turning. I rolled the window down to see if I could hear any more clicking or popping when turning, but I don't really seem to hear it outside of the car. It seems like it's almost emanating from the steering column.
The sound is not a steady popping or clicking sound. It sounds more a slow creak, like you'd think of hearing on a door in an old scary movie. I think I've heard a click here and there, but I can't be certain for sure.

View 1 RepliesI have a 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5L 4 cylinder. About a month ago I had check engine light come on and required to replaced the catalytic converter. I replaced it myself with one from Autozone. Now 2 weeks after replacing it; every now and then I'll be driving let off the gas and when I get back on the gas the car starts missing. It has happened several times in the last few days. The car does smooth out after a few seconds but is a hassle and a worry.

I was told the Altima has no fuel filter only a screen, so that's not it? The car will start perfectly 10 times in a row and then it just cranks & cranks & cranks almost to the point of draining my battery. The battery is good (had it checked). Then all of a sudden after cranking the car (good cranking) it'll start right up & run normal ... No fuel leaks to be seen, just out of options?? View 8 Replies05 Nissan Altima CVT 91k was running great until last week, it stalled while sitting at a traffic light, restarted the engine and ran fine but check engine sign lit up. Today at 60-70 mph engine hesitated once but was noticable, and took 3 cranks to get it to start after re-fuelling. Plugs were replaced at 55k, air filter is clean and was new 4 months ago anyway. Autozone read P0335 and P0725 something about a crankshaft and engine timing sensors?

Offlate I am observing that when the car is shifting gears (automatic), I hear kind of some fluid moving through near the front passenger seat. I looked under the seat and the searched the whole car to see if there is a half empty water bottle thats making the sound. I dont see it though. Am I looking at some problem?

I'm still getting a wobble from the right front at about 65 miles an hour. The original tire on the right front has outside wear about half way around the tire. View 11 RepliesOnce truck is warm, its rattles and shakes like its starving fuel. Worse when backing up.
If i am in neutral, i can rev the engine and it corrects the rattle/shake and can sit idle for hours without reverting back to the rattles.
As soon as i start driving again and slowing at a light it starts rattling and shaking. The sound is almost like as if it was a diesel.
Once the truck is over 50kmh it does not do it at all and rides, sounds great with normal gas mileage.
I have heard this is a cam phaser issue, but maybe its timing chain or something simpler.
i have a 2003 nissan altima with 99288 miles on it. i just got it changed yesterday and one of the tech's showed me and said there was condensation on the oil cap and the oil was dark. he recommened an oil system cleaner. is this accurate or is there something more i should worry about? he also said i was 1/2 qt low. last time i got my oil changed at the same place he said my oil was 2qts low and recommened a semi sythenic blend to flush things out, which i did do. i usually get my oil changed about every 4000 miles or so, i try for 3000 but not too successful. i also drive 1/2 hr to and from work every day at a min.

No gas was getting to the accelerator, the car wouldn't move, but the engine was still running. So I shifted the car in park and back to drive and I began moving. This happened on several occasions.
What is the problem? The gas filter? The gas pump? The fuel injectors or The transmission?
Just bought this car last week. My last car was a 2011 Maxima and before that a Murano so I am use to the CVT bu this cars shifting seems to be off.
I have noticed the front end rattles a little when idling. Also there is a noticeable violent shift/shake a certain points when it shifts.....usually when going about 20 and stepping on the gas fast. It does not happen all the time and that is what I'm worried about because I am bringing it for service and I'm sure they will say "we don't feel anything". Believe me something is not right. I think the dealer would have to drive the car for a while to experience it. It happened bad when I went up a hill this morning.
I have a1997 Nissan Altima 140k miles with the manual transmission. I have a fuel problem that I can't seem to solve. every 1-2 days and only intermittently and unpredictably my car starts to idle up and down and occasionally if I don't give it enough gas they car may stall but the stalls only happen when I am not pressing the accelerator, meaning only at resting idle. since I am fanatic on washing my engine, I initially though that spark plugs were dirty or not working, I changed the spark plugs the distributor cap and the wires but the symptom continues. then I check the resistance of all the four fuel injectors and all of them read at around 12.8 ohms. I have also treated the fuel system twice with injector cleaner, the kind that you find at a gas station but still, the problem persists.
if it is not too much trouble I have another smaller questions. if the car sits overnight or for a couple days, the shift is really easy but as the car warms up the shifting becomes harder. could the transmission fluid need to drained and replaced?
on 1997 Nissan pickup 2.4-liter engine do you have to take off the valve cover to clean out EGR ports.
