2007 Malibu, heat only blows warm during acceleration, when you come to stop/idle heat blows cool. Temp gauge remains constant in normal operating range while driving.

I want to believe its a blend door issue and dive into it this weekend and fix it but there isn't a single piece of foam coming out of any of the vents. Of all the systems on the car, HVAC isn't my cup of tea I don't know anything about it. What else could be the problem? I can live without A/C but the heat things must be fixed.

View 2 RepliesI have a 2004 Chevy Malibu Maxx that randomly dings and shows me the battery light.
It usually happens when going uphill or during really hard accelerations.
It is also showing OBDII code P0621.
The car has no other issues. Always starts, always runs well.
What causes this problem? Where should I start looking? I'm thinking it's probably a bad connection somewhere.
I drive a 2009 Santa Fe with 51000 miles on it. Recently the AC vents on the drivers side blow air that is considerably warmer than the air on the passenger side.

View 9 RepliesMy 2007 Prius air conditioner blows mainly warm rather than cool air. I took it in for repairs and they replaced the high pressure hose but it is still not cooling the car. The dealer has had the car for 2 weeks trying to determine what the problem is. They tell me it should be blowing 42 degrees but is only blowing 62 degrees. They think that it might be the invertor that cost $1,000.

View 8 RepliesHeat shield around the rear muffler near tail pipe is a piece of junk. it makes noise because its so flimsy. The wind blows on it going down the road its about as strong as tin foil. If you hear noise from the rear, check both heat shields they may have stones or leaves inside them, they can make weird noises.
View 3 RepliesStill showing the same codes (per repairman) and still having the intermittent rough idle at low speeds when the engine is warm. It has been so intermittent that I could almost live with it.
So repair guys first replaces the VCT's and runs fine until warmed up and the problem reoccurs with the same codes. He replaces both cam phasers and tensioners today and still same problem and same codes which point to the VCT and cam phasers.
Truck has 80k, city driven, oil changed every 3k or so. Burns ethanol and still runs great at speeds over 10 mph even when this problem appears.
I have a 99 Malibu that starts when cold, but when it heats up it doesn"t even crank (I turn the key over and nothing happens But I have lights and radio).
View 1 RepliesI have a 2001 Malibu that starts easily when cold but when it is warm, up to 4 hours after turning if off it is very hard to start. It will try to start then stall and then I eventually have to floor it to get it going. A big cloud of smoke come out of the tail pipe but then runs at a high idle. Sometimes I will get a 3000rpm idle and then after about 30 seconds it will idle right. I have a new fuel pump, a new Charcoal canister, a new vent valve solenoid, a new fuel pump relay, a good battery and a good starter. I also checked the fuel pressure regulator and no gas leaks out. Also have had a full tune-up. This problem turned out to be the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor.

View 9 RepliesI'm having with my truck. During a drive cross country my heat started to go from hot to mildly warm to cold in probably 5 hours. After stopping I checked my coolant level and it was empty. I do have a leaky head gasket and have driven about 18 hours so I'm guessing that's where it went. I could not find a leak anywhere. I filled it back up and left the cap off the reservoir to let any air work it's way out. My heat still blows cold as ice but if I shut off the heat completely and wait ten seconds then turn it back on it will blow warm air for maybe two seconds. What this could be?
View 3 RepliesI recently acquired a 2003 Mercury Sable from a friend and there is a problem with the air conditioning. The car has digital controls. I select the Max AC button, turn the temperature all the way down (60) an the fan all the way up, but it only blows warm air. I can hear and see the AC compressor cycling fairly quickly. The clutch (I think) engages for about one second and it will reengage after about 5 seconds, but again, it only says engaged for about one second.
What could be the problem? I've read the AC system might not have enough pressure and needs to be recharged. Or... the orifice tube is clogged, bad AC pressure switch, or the actuator that closes the heater door might be disconnected.
How quickly should a properly functions AC compressor cycle? The car was not driven much over the past year or two as it was my friend's grandfathers. I may end up taking it to a shop but I don't want to get ripped off. How should I approach this?
I am recently getting no AC just warm/hot air. I have yet to pressure check the system but i believe the compressor still turns. But I did notice throughout this the vents are only giving about 60% force on heat and AC as they used to. The blower motor spins although, cleaned the cabin air filter and one pin broke when putting it back. the blower motor spins louder on the "4" setting. I am guessing this is related to no A/C since it happened the same time and i don't think that low refrigerant would cause the heat system to blow less efficiently...

Friend at the dealer said he thought there was a software update for the hvac controls ....
My daughter has complained about periods of no heat- fan blows but cold air. Next time the heater works fine. She is keeping coolant level up but does need to add a bit (pint or so) say every other month. Last week during the Chicago snow storm she called and told me the heater (which had been working) blew a bunch of "smoke" into the car and onto the windshield and windows which then froze solid. I assume the smoke meant steam and she did say it had a sweet smell when I asked her.
Car was towed to a SAAB dealer who ran the car for a couple hours and found no issue and then drove the car for a period with no issue. I had my local mechanic also check it in the past for no heat and it also worked fine then. Only thing I can think of is that there might be a small/intermittent leak in the head gasket with an exhaust bubble forced into the cooling system? That does not explain the steam in the passenger compartment though. Could it?
2003 f150 lariat FX4 5.4L ... The heater only blows on defrost, Which vacuum line controls this? is it the black one that runs through the fire wall? What else can I check to narrow the problem down? this truck has the push button/digital controls.
View 7 RepliesI have a 00 Ford Excursion and only heat blows out of the front vents, the temp control doesn't work at all! The back has it's own controls and will come out cold (not a/c just the outside air) when the front is on (blasting heat). What this could be?
