I am getting water at the very front of the trunk, nearest the passenger compartment. Might be the drains in that vicinity that might be plugged causing an overflow there .Rest of the trunk is dry. The only wet area is immediately underneath the pull-out "shade" thing that has to be in place for the top to operate. Some indication that the water is coming from above that, since it is wet also.
View 14 RepliesI have had my Camry for 9 months and unfortunately didnt know that water was going inside my trunk every time it rained, the car was washed, or snow melted! I took it to the dealer to have it looked at only to find out the trunk body seal needed to be replaced. I have had cars over 10 years and water in the trunk was never an issue.
This is my first Camry and I must admit I am not satisfied with the purchase. I hope my experience gets better.
I have noticed a few drops of red liquid on the driveway lately, presumably transmission fluid leaking. Where the leak typically starts, if there is a "typical" leak. Is it generally an expensive fix?
View 2 RepliesMy 2002 SC430 is driven 2 -3 times week and has 30K on it. January '08 I replaced run-flats with high-end non-RF Michelins sugg'd here. Ever since, tires have lost pressure. So far, I was told front pass. rim (orig. factory chrome) had a crack, that was fixed, but tire still loses pressure. Rear Driver's tire supposedly punctured at 2 weeks & replaced..but still loses pressure. All tires & wheels were checked & rotated, now 2 still leak in new positions.
According to Dealership & Tire place familiar with SC430's, my Valve stems and sensors are fine (TPMS works fine), tires are good, rims aren't cracked, but tires go soft. Yesterday a Tire place that does only Lexus & Toyota just told me "invisible corrosion" on rims makes moisture collect where tires seal to rims and this causes slow leak!?
Discovered a water leak on the A pillar driver's side (note right-hand drive)? We had a down pour today and my car has never exhibited this before. I got in my car today and noticed that there was a wet spot at the top and a wet spot under and to the side of the tweeter. This seemed to be quite soaked as pushing on it you could feel it was wet. I checked around the A-pillar and it goes up a little into the roof lining (about an 1/8th of the way on the top of the door ). Today , I heard a small gush of water, but that was about it. The car was on level ground. How do I take off the A-pillar so I can see if something has jammed up or something?
View 10 RepliesI was looking at my car and noticed that i cant seem to find where the keyhole is for the trunk.. i keep my jumper cables in the trunk.. what if your battery died and cant pop the trunk with the button on the inside.. is there a way to open the truink? .. am i just not seeing the key hole or is there not one?
View 14 RepliesToday I tried opening my roof... The trunk lid opened but the top didn't fold.. I closed it... After restarting my car I realized the front switch for the top doesn't even light anymore...
I unplugged the battery... replugged.. the switch opened the trunk lid again but top didn't move and switch was a solid red light... once I pressed closed, trunk lid closed and switch stopped lighting after (not responsive). What it could be?
The shocks (or whatever) that keep the trunk open have gone bad. Of course it happened a month after my warranty expired. They look easy to replace. Where to get them, cost, and how to install? I don't like going to my Lexus dealer. They make me feel like a criminal for not changing my oil every 5k, changing my own filters, etc, etc. etc.

View 14 RepliesI am trying to replace the trunk lights in my 2006 SC430. How do you remove the light covers? It seems like they should just pop off, but reasonable amounts of pushing and pulling has produced zero result. I don't want to break it.
View 1 Replies'02 sc430 here and the oddest thing started happening this week. The trunk will not open when using the button on the driver's side. Push the button and I don't hear any activity. But if I use my key remote the trunk pops open as usual. At the exact time this problem started happening, the top stopped opening as well. I pull the cover back as usual in the trunk, make sure it clicks into place, but when I push the button to open the roof, it just flashes red on and off over and over as if the latch is not in place in the trunk. How this all started.

I cannot tell if something is wrong....other than a slight dent on the outside perimeter of the latch housing?
Other than checking the fuse and the valet switch, anything else to look for when the trunk will not open via the key or the dash switch? The car does make the beep when the key remote is pressed, but no open. Also, the top works fine. Gas door works fine. Manual release of trunk also works.

View 9 RepliesSo, last night I was driving with radio off and a "whirring/fan" sound was audible in the rear of my 2002 SC430 - a sound that I have never heard. The sound seemed to resonate from the driver side, access panel (which I believe holds fuses and other systems for roof). After the vehicle was stopped and restarted the sound continued. Now today, I insert the key into the ignition - no sound; turn to accessory - sound is audible; started vehicle and did not hear sound. Second time I repeated and sound was heard; started and did not hear sound, Third time I repeated and no sound heard in accessory start position. What the heck is this? Any diagram of the trunk and what components are housed in the center bay? Does this vehicle have any auto-leveling function that activates?
View 13 Replieskeep finding a small puddle in the drivers side corner of the trunk no where else just in this removable pocket. Under it is a flap type of thing which goes into the inner rear wing is that for ventilation. Could water get in from there ?
Can't find any drips from the trunk lid all the seals look mint.
Push button to open the trunk will not unlock. Push button for top close will not work.

View 3 RepliesSomewhat frequently my wife's 2003 makes this sound. It sounds like it's coming from behind the instrument cluster. It can last for several minutes. I did a search on the forum but couldn't find anything.
View 3 RepliesI get a small "squeal" from the engine usually only when it's cold out, and have narrowed it down to the water pump pulley (2nd pulley down from the top). I put a drop or two of WD-40 on the "rod" that runs through the pulley and it stops. I know not to put anything on the belt to avoid contamination but it seems to me that it's the metal bolt that keeps the pulley in place. I stopped by an O'Reilly and had the tech have a look because I was going to try a more viscous grease. He thinks that it's either the pump is starting to fail or that the pulley could have moved out of place. He said I should remove the belt and tug on the pulley.
If it moves then it's loose and needs to be lubed and tightened. If it doesn't then it's a water pump replacement. What do you all think? I don't want to drop a ton of money as it truly only squeals when it's cold, and unfortunately I'm thinking Chicago's gonna have a cold one this year even though after the engine heats up it's goes away. If you have a guess to the problem, what do you think replacement will run me. I'm only at 30,000 miles, and has been garaged until recently so I don't think it's a belt change or pump failure yet.
