Lexus SC430 :: Tire Losing Pressure - Checked And Rotated Still Leakage In New Position
Jan 12, 2009
My 2002 SC430 is driven 2 -3 times week and has 30K on it. January '08 I replaced run-flats with high-end non-RF Michelins sugg'd here. Ever since, tires have lost pressure. So far, I was told front pass. rim (orig. factory chrome) had a crack, that was fixed, but tire still loses pressure. Rear Driver's tire supposedly punctured at 2 weeks & replaced..but still loses pressure. All tires & wheels were checked & rotated, now 2 still leak in new positions.
According to Dealership & Tire place familiar with SC430's, my Valve stems and sensors are fine (TPMS works fine), tires are good, rims aren't cracked, but tires go soft. Yesterday a Tire place that does only Lexus & Toyota just told me "invisible corrosion" on rims makes moisture collect where tires seal to rims and this causes slow leak!?

The tire pressure warning light came on about a week after the tires were rotated (and I assume filled) at the dealer. My son in law checked all 4 tires and they were above 30. Didn't want to fill anymore since I have the green caps. Light is still on. Is it safe to drive on highway at 75/80 mph? How does this light determine low pressure. Why is it still on? No other problem so hate to go to dealer for this but would like the light to go out.

We got rid of our run flats and bought new tires recommended here. We have a 2003 SC430 and the tires say max pressure 51lbs... It's been a while for us so we are not sure what level to fill them at. Do we do the recommended max? Or is there a better option? We used to live in New England and we now reside in Atlanta so we didn't know if the climate difference would be a factor.

My tire pressure light has come on - it did once before about 8 months ago. All tire (not flatruns) pressures seem fine (between 34-38 not cold). Tires were rotated by dealer not too long ago. Do I need to reset the pressure light - understand it is somewhere under driver side dash? Previously I think I added air and light went off. But this time tires don't need air.

Long story short, I have a tire that is losing pressure. In two months it went from 30PSI to 10PSI. I caught the tire right before my trip to Vegas and filled it back up to 32PSI and today it was at 25PSI for a total of 22 days. I figure I am losing around .3PSI a day. Took it into Sams where I bought them and of course they couldn't find a thing wrong with them. Sprayed them with soap and water and dunked them in a trough but no bubbles. They weren't going to do anything, but I talked them into putting a new valve stem on and at least taking the tire off the rim and taking a look. I realize it could be a dynamic problem where it only leaks while the tire is rotating. Is there anything else that I'm not thinking about verses having a leaky rim?

A few days back, the low tire pressure light came on, and I checked that the LR tire was only about 20 psi while the other three were ok (>30). I inflated LR to ~35 psi and the others as well. The warning light disappeared.
Today while I was filling gas, I checked the LR, and it is already down to 30 psi (hot) whereas the other three were about the same.
Is this just a small leak/puncture or something else (valve stem, etc)?

I have noticed a few drops of red liquid on the driveway lately, presumably transmission fluid leaking. Where the leak typically starts, if there is a "typical" leak. Is it generally an expensive fix?

I am getting water at the very front of the trunk, nearest the passenger compartment. Might be the drains in that vicinity that might be plugged causing an overflow there .Rest of the trunk is dry. The only wet area is immediately underneath the pull-out "shade" thing that has to be in place for the top to operate. Some indication that the water is coming from above that, since it is wet also.

I had reason to believe that my back brakes needed replacing. While I was at it, I also attempted to swap out my front rotors, but was stopped when I was unable to remove my front brake calipers. All in all, I essentially did nothing. I checked the back brake drums and put those tires back on and then took front tires off and put them back on. I woke up today to drive to work, and and after getting about a mile down the road and going about 30-35 mph I noticed my wobble. It seemed to be coming from the front, but still hard to be sure. I know my rotors are a little warped, but I usually always experience that when braking, not when just coasting or accelerating. What to check on, or what I could have done? If it makes any difference, I am driving a 2002 Ford Taurus.

So the climate control on my 2002 430 is starting to loose sections of the numbers.
Not a bunch but I fear that it is just a matter of time before they all go away.
I assume, not being a LCD engineer, that there really isn't much that can be done to fix my existing LCD but I thought I would ask the group hoping for a resolution other than replacing the LCD.

I have owned 2 SC and I notice both of the SC I have owned get a odd " hissing " sound, when the ignition is turned to the " On" position with the key located in the engine area, It will come on and then go off ...
Sometimes this " hissing " sound will come back on when driving and then off again ...
Hissing sound when the key is turned only to the "on" position?

I just got my car back from a body shop, after they fixed all the rock chips on the front. Now I realize the seat position memory is not working for both the driving and passenger seats. Not only the button does not move the seats, but I can't set the new positions into the memory either.

I just got an 02 SC430 and I am going through a few things. The Nav screen works fine but is frozen in the rear tilt position. I would be okay if it were frozen all the way forward???

I need to check the fuel pressure to verify if my fuel pump is functioning. What is the procedure and PSI?
Assume that I open the valve on fuel rail with engine off, then connect pressure tester kit, put key in ignition to "on" position, then pump up to specified PSI???

My front drivers side pillar is flapping around and won't stay in the set position. It seems to be the washer that the one of the clips goes into (at the very bottom of the pillar) has corroded.
So firstly I am trying to take it off - but after reading the removal of windscreen instructions I see:
21. REMOVE FRONT BODY PILLAR OUTER RH
a) Remove the nut.
I can't see a nut and if it's under the pillar how do I access it?
And then
34: INSTALL FRONT BODY PILLAR OUTER RH
a) Exchange the clip with a new one
What clip is this referring to and what is the part number.

I want to disconnect a wire to turn off the tire warning light. I've heard several wire options behind the glove compartment but it's confusing. Any easier clearer answer as to which wire is the right one?

Working on my car after getting it back from bad mechanic. The jerk didn't correctly reconnect the AC lines and now it's not holding pressure. The leak is right on the firewall, with one big and one small line. When I disconnect the lines I tried to reconnect using an o-ring gasket but it's still not holding pressure. Probably need OE o-rings, but I did this last summer and got it to hold pressure fine.

Take a look at the video I recorded with my phone and you can hear a thumping or clunking noise coming from the rear driver side tire. The phone was held upside down sorry!. I'm thinking it's either the brake pads or wheel bearing?
Please try to ignore the wind noises. = Just want some idea so when I take it to a mechanic it would be easier to identify the problem. [URL] ....

Any way I can set up the tire pressure warning to come on at 27psi or so? I want to set the tires at 30psi for a more comfy ride and not have the warning light on. Don't care about mileage. Want the cushy Lexus ride.

So this morning heading to work the low tire pressure notification popped up. I filled my tires with air afterwards, but the light and notification are still present. Would that reset on it's own, or do I have to do something along the lines of when resetting the oil maintenance message thru the speedometer settings?
