What is the purpose of the small rubber/plastic grommet at the bottom center of the wind deflector on our cars? Didn't realize mine was missing until service manager pointed it out.
View 14 RepliesMy 2013 Sonata came with a sunroof wind deflector. I'm somewhat hesitant to install it, since it might increase wind noise. It also might affect MPG. I like the looks of it, at least the pics I've seen of it.

View 4 RepliesThere is a noticeable amount of wind noise on the driver's side (obviously with the top and all windows up). Haven't ridden in the passenger seat so not sure if it's there too.
The top closes perfectly, so I'm assuming it's the driver's side mirror.
I have an 07 sc 430. It has a wind noise on drivers side. It seems to be at the top of the window where the top fits into the header bar.

View 9 RepliesIn my 2002 SC430: The interior rear view mirror has an indicator which does not light up when I press the auto button. It does not auto dim at night either. My headlights auto on/off so that daylight sensor works. Ive checked the mirror fuse but not sure if there's anything else causing this. Do these mirrors go bad, or has mine been broken ? What items do I check and or test to diagnose and repair the mirror?

Modifying it with a different bulb, if so what's the size? Same ones as the interior map lights?
The lower air deflector/radiator mount for my 2003 Olds Silhouette broke. That is, the air deflector broke off. It's a plastic part that mounts to the radiator mount; not the mount itself. I can buy it on line for about $110 delivered, but I'm not sure I need to replace it. There are about 5 bolts holding it in place. It looks like a real easy job. I guess it is supposed to keep the front end down, but it doesn't look like it does much in that respect.
View 8 RepliesYesterday I was adding some pressure in the tires and I found that the plastic cover under the oil sump is loose on the driver's side and the driver side air scoop (not the brake cooler scoop) is missing. I know it was the guy who changed the oil last time, probably 7 bolts where missing. I went under the car and fit some bolts from my tool box to secure the plastic plate. I was asking myself what do these scoops do? Are they an aerodynamic stuff or coolers to the transmission? Or something else?

View 4 RepliesI pulled my air filter for inspection last weekend. The 6.7L airbox is segmented into two parts - One part is very large and contains the pleated paper air filter, as well as the air intake in the base. The other part is small and contains a half-section of the pleated filter, with a fine foam filter below. However, the foam extends out through a sizable hole in the bottom of the small compartment and runs down outside of the box nearly to the base of the entire air box (held on by some plastic straps).
What is the purpose of the foam and "secondary" air intake? Why not simply use one compartment with the paper air filter?
Last few weeks I've been getting a bit of a whine getting into car. I thought it was a wheel bearing but I've discovered its wind noise from the sun roof.
My question is is the glass roof easy to get out and is there a aftermarket seal available as i suspect oem one will be arm and leg.
I've been noticing a tremendous amount of wind noise going 70+ on the highway. My car only has 18K over a course of 4 years. The only the possible think I can think is the seals have dried because of standing in the sun for so long at school and then not getting garaged when I get home, my mom's and dad's car get priority. It used to be garaged when it was my moms. I don't think the sun can dry out the seals so quickly.
View 14 RepliesI had my 2010 Camry up on a hoist yesterday and noticed that there is sort of a small deflector type plastic piece with about a 1 inch lip on the underbody just before the rear wheels. It is held on by two bolts. You can just barely see it and might have to bend down to get a good look at it. It is on both sides. I'm not talking about the rear mud/splash guards but the small piece before the rear tires.
What this is called and what it's purpose is?
I have a 2007 LS I purchased a few months ago. Wind noise from windows is very loud. I applied the jmcraney fix this week - did it exactly as the directions say. Made no difference in wind noise - still get a bunch of wind noise through the windows. My LS has 70k miles so it is out of warranty.
