My left side mirror, motor will move left and right but it will not move up and down. Is there a DIY way to fix this? Is it a motor problem? Can I buy the part and fix it?
View 7 RepliesOn my 2005 GX, the passenger side mirror can move only left to right (horizontally) but it cannot go up or down. I did some reading and it looks like this is a 'common' problem with Lexus mirrors due to the auto tilt-down feature. Something inside must be worn out or broken and it does not move any more.
The driver side mirror moves fine in every direction, so i am pretty sure it's not a defective mirror switch. The question is.... since this is such a common problem, is there a fix for it, other than replacing the entire mirror assembly? Is there a "gear kit" or something else that i can buy, disassemble the mirror and fix it?

Just the other day I noticed that my passenger side mirror will move up and down, but not right and left. Drivers side works fine. The mirrors are all stock, I haven't changed them yet. It's been pretty cold out lately and I recently washed my car (on a warmer day). Could this be the cause?
View 5 RepliesWhy this could be and how I can fix it? The driver side mirror can move in all four directions. I've tried unsticking it and pushing with fingers to center it, that doesn't work. I can hear the motor when it goes up and down, but can't hear the motor trying when trying to go left and right.
View 7 RepliesYesterday, I was driving my IS250 at over 100mph on I-5 North and from time to time, I heard some hitting maybe from rocks? on my left side mirror. If it was just once, I would of thought it would be a rock but kept making that sound. When I got off the freeway I checked to see if it was any rock chips but I couldn't find chips or dings.

View 4 RepliesI have read other people having problems with their power seats. Mine is kind of weird, the right side moves, the left doesn't. So when I try to move forward, it moves forward and pivots to toward the left, since only the right side is moving forward on the rail. There is only one motor moving the seat forward and backward right? I am hoping it's just an obstruction on the left railing or something....unless there are two motors moving the seat forward. The lumbar motors are fine, I can move up and down, it's just the seat itself that can't slide forward and backward.
View 2 RepliesMy Driver side/Left side mirror started wiggling, and fell, hanging on by just the wires for the heating element. I snapped it back on twice now, and I noticed 2 small plastic clips broken.
It's a 2013, XLT, heated, drivers side mirror.
So I was driving today with the fuel light on, drove for 5 miles and the car started dying. I was under the impression there would be atleast 2 gallons left. How many miles we have left when the light turns on?
View 14 RepliesI've had this issue for quite a while. on and off for the beginning of me owning the car and now pretty much all the time. The driver side mirror will not tilt down or up. Only side to side. The passenger side works fine and even tilts down when i reverse.
View 7 RepliesRecognized, that left mirror folds slower than the right one. At hot temperatures, the mirror folds in a kind of "stepping" and makes some squeaking noises. Is it a good Idea to try grease inside of the mirror folding motor?
View 1 RepliesAt first the drivers side, side mirror would tilt as it should when backing up but when i got onto the street from my driveway wouldn't stop tilting up-words till it made a clicking noise that it wanted to keep tilting but couldn't. The only way to stop it was to adjust the side mirror manually and tilt it down and it would stop and stay at whatever i set it as. Now it just doesn't tilt at all.
What part numbers would i need to fix the problem? I drive a 2002 SC 430.
I've got a 2001 Accent 1.5 liter 5 speed. Car has 105,500 miles. Whenever the car is running, it makes an irritating tapping noise somewhere on the left side of the motor. I've been told that it sounds like the timing belt, but the car runs perfectly, doesn't miss. The tapping used to go away 30 seconds to a minute after starting it, but now it's constantly there and slightly louder. The noise goes with the rpms. When the rpms are higher, the tapping is faster. I've also noticed some loss of power. I recently added some octane booster to the fuel but noticed no difference. My uncle told me it may be a main bearing starting to go out but the tapping does not have a metallic tone of any.
View 3 RepliesI have just noticed a random knock on front end on 2002 430 sc when going 5 to 10 mph and turning steering wheel to left or right...sounds like metal to metal and shifting or movement knock ... turning left, sound on passenger side; turning right, sound on drivers side..brake system checked out ok; had struts, plates and insulators changed; checks were made on torques to all front suspension bolts and everything is tight and no movements in bushings and etc.. totally baffled and really an annoying sound......ball joints are tight and no movement.
View 3 RepliesI have a slight squeal from the left rear brake when in reverse. Doesn't do it all time and never when roads are wet. I disassembled the caliper and all looks good. I replaced the pads about a year ago and the noise just recently started, so its hard to blame that. I did not use the brake anti-noise lube......but I never have.
View 2 RepliesMy friend with an 07 with about 109k miles on it now has started getting a "groaning" noise whenever the wheel is cut hard to the right or left, either sitting still or rolling. A local repair shop (not the dealer) checked it out and said there was some "stuff that needed to be lubricated". Not trusting this opinion he went to a Toyota dealer where he was getting new brake pads installed on all 4 corners (no Lexus dealer in the city where he lives), they diagnosed the car as needing 4 new struts and a new balljoint.
If in fact he does need the struts and balljoint, I am thinking chances are there will be a bunch more suspension stuff that should really be done at the same time when everything is apart anyway - perhaps bushings, endlinks, etc?
Is he better off sticking with the OEM strut replacements or should he go aftermarket? He's not looking to slam the car or anything, and is more of a ride comfort guy than handling enthusiast.
I am having a problem with my 2007 R32 manual,over the last few weeks its developed a whining noise in what seems to sound from the rear left side,more so when driving around a left hand corner (weight is off the noisy side),or when i let my foot off the gas and let the car run,ive jacked it up and when I grab the back left drive shaft and shake it, I found there's a bit of play on the side going into the diff, there's 70000 miles on it and no problems to date, looking for some info on what problem could be?
View 6 RepliesA while back I posted a message about a humming sound that sounded like it was coming from the left side of the dash behind the left air vent.
I talked to the master tech from my local VW dealer and he tells me that the humming from the left side of the dash is not the CAN BUS. He says that there's a water pump high in the left front wheel well that is supposed to run as part of the engine cool process. He says it's not supposed to run during normal operation, but he has heard a LOT of complaints about the noise.
He suspects there will be a fix from VW given the number of complaints, but he says that it's normal and nothing to worry about. Just a little annoying.
I am trying to find out what's going on with my GX470. It's a 2003 and I just hit 125,000 miles. Over the past couple of months it has developed a loud roar on the left side that gets louder as I pick up speed. The kicker is that it doesn't do it what so ever when turning right? Where to start???

19x8.5 ET45
19x9.5 ET42
Goodyear AS2 Front - 225/35/19, Rear - 265/30/19
Lowered on HKS Max IV GT
Really want to keep the lowered look and in fact I want to lower the rear 5mm more. Thinking of changing to 255 in place of the 265 for the rear.
