View 1 RepliesHow do you remove and reinstall just the lens in the rear light assembly in 2002 SC430 ? I can see that it probably just snaps out using a screwdriver as a pry tool but want to be sure !
View 5 RepliesMy friend with a 2007 SC430 has been having weird electrical issues for the past few years. He's owned the car about 6 years now, and probably 3 or 4 years ago things seem to have started acting up:
- the car burns out headlight and foglight bulbs very often, usually after less than a year since they are replaced. It hasn't mattered if the replacements he tries are OEM Lexus or aftermarket, they burn out within a year or so - sometimes within only a few months. He previously owned a 2002 SC430 for about 4 years and never had to replace any bulbs. On the 07, it's usually always one of the driver's side bulbs that will go first, and then within a month or two the passenger's side goes. Sometimes a headlight goes, then the foglight on the same or opposite side goes. Other times a fog goes out and a short time later the headlight on that side goes out.
- his driver's seat heated seat stopped working earlier last year. First the "bottom" stopped working, then a few weeks later the "back" section stopped too. Lexus diagnosed blown heating elements, which can't be replaced without replacing the entire section of the seat. So he found a complete seat from a wrecker and swapped it in. Everything worked fine for about 3 months, and now he is back to no heated seat again (this time both the back and bottom sections stopped working at the same time)
A Lexus dealer spent 4 hours "diagnosing" the car and came back saying all electrical systems are normal, so they can't say why the bulbs are always burning out or why two different seats have stopped working. The car is getting up there in mileage (closing in on 200K miles) but has always been properly maintained.
Just bought a CTEK for the SC430 along with the 8ft extension cord. Car doesn't get much use during the snow/ice season.
How you did your install and routed the wiring? I would rather not keep the hood up during charging.
I am getting ready to install DVD headrest players in my RX400h. I am stumped on how to remove the read shield of the seat if that makes sence? I believe the are held in by clamps from middle to top but not sure what needs done at the bottome. And I can also feel two straps at the bottom.
How to remove the back so I can run the wires down the seat from the headrests? Pictures? Diagrams?
How to remove the center console where the gear shift is? I need to get access to one of the audio connector under/near the gear shift. I am looking to add an audio auxiliary port.

View 14 RepliesI replaced my headlight today, was really hard but I got it done. To my surprise, when I went to start my car it turned over then died. A gas smelled followed with a slight hissing. I also worked on my intake today because there was a leak, but I don't see how that's related? Maybe a fuel pump relay? She doesn't seem like she is getting fuel and dies!
View 14 RepliesI noticed the light below which seems to be a headlight self leveling error appear today. I know it came on a while back and disappeared butt the place its located is unnoticeable as its in the top corner and you have to tilt your head to see it so not sure if it came on many times.. But yeah I saw it today while waiting for my turn at the car wash since it was nice and sunny out and I leaned over to pull the foot brake release then saw it... It seemed to disappear a few minutes later.. then I stopped somewhere, came back started car and same thing and then it disappeared again. A while later it came on stayed on..
what could it be? I am aware that there maybe a 2 sensors, one in front and other in rear axle? I also know there is a module for left and right side... I am wondering what it could be, but I haven't got the code read yet..
Planning on doing a DIY project for coilover install. How to remove the trunk liiners to access rear struts? Just want to ask so I don't break anything...
View 9 RepliesI am trying to remove the front seat warmer switch. Been trying but no luck.
View 3 RepliesI can't remove the retaining clip to replace the passenger's side low beam headlight bulb. I was able to, with some difficulty, replace the driver's side but space is tighter on the passenger side.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2007 and lately the driver's side headlight goes out sometimes when I'm driving. If I turn the lights off, and then back on, it will light up again and stay lit. Sometimes it will work for weeks and then all of a sudden it will go out. So I'm thinking of replacing the bulb(s)
Are the headlight bulbs in the 2007 SC regular light bulbs that I can purchase at a local automotive store?
On my 2007 SC 430 I have a passenger headlight that appears to have a mind of its own. It works intermittently. I know that it is programmed to go off when the car is in park, but that is not what I'm talking about. When I start the car after dark both sides will be on but at some point the passenger side will go out, not all the time, but quite often. I have checked for loos wires but have not found any.
View 4 RepliesVery much enjoying my newly acquired CPO sc430 but there's a strange thing that I noticed: When I go over a short-bump or hit a patch of broken pavement, the driver's side headlight seems to flicker for just a split-second. Sometimes it even seems like the other one flickers too. What that can be? Is it normal for this car?
Also, my car has the dreaded brake-clunk that has been discussed in this forum ad nauseum. Is it worth taking it to the dealer even assuming they know how to adjust the clips and grease the system to get rid of it? How long does the "fix" last? I had a 2004 acura TL that did this from day 1 but only on the initial brake application after starting the engine. The SC does it every time I shift from D into R etc.
My friend with a 2007 SC430 is having a recurring problem with his passenger's side headlight. The HID low beam keeps periodically going out, then will start working again. When it isn't lighting up, it's doesn't work on either the low beam or the high beam settings, while the driver's side lamp is working fine (driver's side low beam lamp is on with high beam lamp when high beams are engaged, and driver's side lowbeam lamp on as normal with low beam engaged).
He has replaced the passenger's side bulb with a Lexus OEM purchased from a dealer back in November which seemed to fix things for a while but now the problem is back again.
What the cause(s) could be and how to troubleshoot? He previously owned a 2002 SC430 for 6 years and never once had any headlight issues or even had to replace any bulbs, and the 07 is giving him this grief now after barely 3 years of owning it.
One of many issues I need to fix - headlight washer fluid cover seems to be stuck open. i applied moderate force to push it back in, but it did not move, and i do not want to risk breaking it.
I'm thinking some wiring isn't right, maybe connectors never got reconnected.. the auto adjusting headlights don't work either, and the washer fluid line from the firewall that runs to the washer fluid tank was hastily crimped on due to the plastic hose fitting being most likely broken off or lost. Does the bumper need to come off to mess with it? guessing yes.
I searched but couldn't find any DIY on how to remove/install the haldex controller. Is it straight forward or any special tools needed? I know its very tight in there?
View 3 RepliesMy wife cracked in half the gas fill door on our 2012 SE. I ordered a new one online and painted it to match our car. I cannot figure out how to get the old one out and install the new one. I removed the 4 screws around the gas filler tube but how do I access the back to get out the old hinge?
View 5 RepliesHow to remove the rear side interior trim? I want to install a rear view camera. I need to pull the trim to run the wiring along the left side to the floor and to the front of the car.
My understanding is I need to get access to the left rear side of the hatch, then underneath the carpet along the rear door trim, etc. I've seen some posts on the 2 door, but there appear to be differences between that and the 4 door.
