Grinding noise (light) in the steering column on turning the ignition key on, after few hours of parking in hot sun only, the movement of steering column is to the set memory, after that no noise, cold start in the morning is always noiseless, feels like it needs lubrication?

I have them all working except for the lights on the turn signal lever, the windshield wiper lever, the cruse control and the steering wheel. So all the light on the steering column are out. I cannot find a bad fuse. Which fuse it might be, or some other items to check?

View 7 RepliesI have a 2007 Lexus ES 350 ultra that I quite enjoy, it has 182,000 miles on it and as time has gone on it has developed this noise in the steering wheel and steering column that I cannot diagnose, it's a noise that I have posted in a video : [URL] .....
I'm fairly mechanically adept and inclined but I truly don't know what this noise is caused by, it sounds like it is in the steering column itself. Normally I would say it has something to do with suspension but since this happens whether I'm moving or stopped, I think it is just a worn or loose piece but I don't know where or what.
My wife had been complaining about a rattle noise coming from the front of her 10 RX350 when she goes over bumps at about 35mph or so. Could not pinpoint the problem?
View 4 RepliesI brought our 2010 Rx450h to the dealership several months ago due to an occasional clicking noise in the upper steering column, behind the steering wheel area. The repetitive clicking was most noticeable at slower speeds while turning the steering wheel.
The dealership had the car for about 3 days saying it was a loose cable and then told me when I picked up the car, that sound was the way it was supposed to be, part of the electric assist steering. So the clicking noise continued.
Now the steering is getting stiffer. Some days much stiffer. This happens more when turning the wheel slowly.
Just received my car back from the service department and noticed a slight clicking sound that isn't too loud, it's mechanical sounding.. Quieter than a ball point pen retracting I'd say. It clicks every quarter of a turn while stopped and low speeds.
View 2 RepliesI've got an 06 Nissan Frontier and whenever the weather is cold (40s and under) I hear a clinking noise that appears to be coming from the steering column or the dashboard. It usually gets better after I drive it awhile. It doesn't seem to be affecting my truck, but it does have me curious. What this may be.
View 13 RepliesMy friend with an 07 with about 109k miles on it now has started getting a "groaning" noise whenever the wheel is cut hard to the right or left, either sitting still or rolling. A local repair shop (not the dealer) checked it out and said there was some "stuff that needed to be lubricated". Not trusting this opinion he went to a Toyota dealer where he was getting new brake pads installed on all 4 corners (no Lexus dealer in the city where he lives), they diagnosed the car as needing 4 new struts and a new balljoint.
If in fact he does need the struts and balljoint, I am thinking chances are there will be a bunch more suspension stuff that should really be done at the same time when everything is apart anyway - perhaps bushings, endlinks, etc?
Is he better off sticking with the OEM strut replacements or should he go aftermarket? He's not looking to slam the car or anything, and is more of a ride comfort guy than handling enthusiast.

View 4 RepliesWhen going down the road I notice a rattle noise coming from the steering column area. I took it to the dealer a week or so after noticing it. I purchased the car brand new and like I said I took it to the dealer a week after purchasing it and they said they could not find anything and said they zip tied the brake lines or some bs hoping that would solve my problem.
It is now kind of obvious and I am going to take it back in to another dealership that has a better reputation.

I have a 1996 Nissan Pickup that has been making a clanking noise (that's progressively gotten worse over time) in the steering column every time I go over a bump in the road. The sound is coming from the area between the steering wheel and the dashboard. It sounds like metal hitting metal. The steering seems to be functioning normally, other than the annoying noise. What's causing this?
View 2 RepliesDriving home from work around 10pm. Leo started explaining that i had no taillights on but the brakes worked. He was right. I came home and found out my parking light fuse under the steering column was blown. I replaced the mini 10-amp fuse with a spare and they started working again. Then later, they stopped working again. Only thing i have installed electronic upgrade wise is after market LED fog lights(which went out with the parking lights but both came back on with the new fuse) and Navi bypass. What could it be?????
