I own a 2003 SC 430 w / 133K miles. It has been serviced regularly since purchased. While driving in rain , only the engine may suddenly growl and shake. No check engine light or other warning lights illuminate. When I pull over and restart the engine , it runs fine again. There are never any such problems when driving in dry weather conditions. What the issue might be?
View 4 RepliesI have a 2003 SC430 with 170,000 miles on the odo. When at idle, the car shakes a little. I notice it the most when at a red light. But if I put the car in N, the shaking goes away. It happens with the most severity when in D and with my foot on the brake. I'm assuming the shake is normal for a car of this age and mileage, but i'd like to eliminate it.
View 10 Replies2002 SC430 with 50k miles. I have a set of aftermarket Dolce rims that are 18" with the stock size tires. I have the eccentric spacers on them as well. They have been mounted and balanced. I also have a set of Dunlop snow tires on my stock rims. Obviously I do a seasonal change over.
With either set of tires I am getting a steering wheel shake at 60-65 mph. By 80mph its gone and the car glides perfectly. There is no pulsation in the brake pedal and there is minimal wear on the pads. Below 60mph there is no issues as well.
Tires are wearing evenly. Some roads will make the movement worse, but it always goes away at around 80 mph.
Now both sets of tires were mounted and balanced by the same shop. I assume that could be it...there machine is faulty. But I would like some other possibilities before I try somewhere else.
i have a 03sc430 with 144,000 on the clock and the rear of the car shakes around 60-70 mph ive had all tires road forced balanced nothing wrong with tires rides fine until i get to 60 mph i heard a click noise once when the car was parked in a driveway on an angle.
View 14 RepliesI was driving in a heavy rain on Saturday and all of the sudden the proximity sensor just went off without anything even close proximity then the left blinker just went off by itself. I cut off the engine then restart couple of time but that didn't work. After 3 hours in the dealer, the mechanic still couldn't figure it out, they said they needed more time to trace the source of the problem. Electrical problem on my 13 RX350 FSport....

View 7 RepliesCurious. When I first start the car and I'm driving then come to a stop I feel engine rumble or shake. It only does it the first time I stop. Car is under warranty but I'm curious as to why it is. Also it doesn't do it all the time so that's another problem with bringing it to the dealer.
View 9 RepliesI had a minor problem today with my prius, as while driving in LA rain, my Engine check light came up and engine started vibrating. It is okay when a motor is driving the car, but as soon as engine kicks in i feel vibrations and Engine Check light starts blinking. Rest of the electronics and battery charges normally.

So my sc430 keeps giving me trouble and all the lights come on while i am driving and then it shuts off on me. I could be wrong but i think it has something to do with a iphone connection that i have. I originally thought it was the battery so i replaced that and it was running fine for a day with no issues. Then today shortly after i tried to use the iphone connector the same thing happened.
View 1 RepliesIts not super cold but in Tampa ever since I installed my headers and its 60 or below i've gotten the VSC and ABS lights on in the dash after driving a little bit. Typically this is a cold morning type thing.
I reset the lights and it went away for a few days (it also got 30 degrees warmer) once it got down to 55 the lights came back on. Parked the car went in to work and when I drove home the lights were off (without re-setting the lights).
I know the codes can mean different things. The car is driving the same as always too- I have PPE headers, Ingen Intake, and a muffler delete.
I have a 2007 and I've just developed my first problem since I purchased the car new in 2007. While driving, my headlight(s) will turn off by themselves.
Sometimes it's the right one, sometimes it's the left one, and sometimes they will both stop working. Turning the headlight switch off and then on brings them back to life.
What part in the headlight system is causing this?
About every 10 to 20 minutes while driving I hear 5 or six intermittent beeps. No warning lights or anything, just the beeps. What is it? I have a 2002 SC430.
View 7 RepliesI had a issue today and it made me scared to drive the SC ever again. While I was driving this light came on that kept blinking and making a beeping noises, after a while of blinking (approximately 30 seconds) the steering wheel jerked to the left and right really fast, luckily there was no car around me. I immediately pulled over to the shoulder. After a couple minutes I drove home on the service road without incident. Why this happened.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2007 and lately the driver's side headlight goes out sometimes when I'm driving. If I turn the lights off, and then back on, it will light up again and stay lit. Sometimes it will work for weeks and then all of a sudden it will go out. So I'm thinking of replacing the bulb(s)
Are the headlight bulbs in the 2007 SC regular light bulbs that I can purchase at a local automotive store?
I have an 02 SC430 and I recently noticed that my temperature gauge rose to 3/4 high after driving pretty hard on the interstate and then coming to a complete stop on side street traffic (mind you, it was like 95F outside) After traffic cleared and i started to move, the temp gauge went down to 1/2 and never rose again.
I tried to replicate the problem by having the car on idle and revving for a few minutes, but she stayed at half. I told my brother to watch the temp gauge if he drives it. He said the coolant was low and added coolant. Driving today, storming like hell, on the exit, i pull up to the red light and notice my temp gauge is to the cold position, but i have a check engine light on, VSC light on and VSC off light. I also noticed I'm smoking like hell, so i pull over to the nearest covering and pop the hood. My rad cap has popped off and coolant has spewed all over the engine. let it cool down and put the car on accessory.
At this point, my temp gauge is still at the cold position. started it up with no problems and the temp gauge shoots to the overheating position. I shut it down, let it cool. After a few minutes, i fire it up and drive it to the nearest gas station maybe 1000 ft away. Filled up almost 2 gallons of water and let it run with the rad cap off to get the air bubbles out. I notice a lot of air purging itself out of the coolant system. after running for 5 minutes with no variation in my temp gauge, i drive it for 5 minutes with no problems, no funny sounds, no funny misfire, no smoke (front or rear). The lights still have not come off... I can only attribute the overheating to air being in the cooling system.
I bought a 2002 SC430 about 6 months ago. The car has been flawless, until today. Twenty minutes into the drive while on the freeway at 75 mph the speedometer went to 0 and the ABS and Brake warning lights came on. The car and brakes seemed fine, I returned home. In the driveway I turned the car off and then restarted, all was good. No warning lights, and the speedometer worked on a drive down the street.
View 2 RepliesRecently I've noticed that my Automatic Headlight Leveling System has been acting strange. The headlights are constantly "scanning" up and down when driving and even when parked. other drivers are flashing me thinking I'm flashing them. I get the ALS error light on the dash rarely, but it always comes and goes, but the lights are always jumping up and down. I went to Lexus about a month ago and they said they didn't find any errors with the system. So they let me go with no charge. I finally made it in for a true diagnostic workup as the problem still continued, and after a diagnostic fee I was told that my Front Left Ride Height Sensor was failing.

Now I realize the seat position memory is not working for both the driving and passenger seats. Not only the button does not move the seats, but I can't set the new positions into the memory either.
View 2 RepliesMy Lexus SC430 parking sensor alarm sounds intermittently while I am driving. (No, I do not tailgate the car in front.)
It has happened several times, all but once when it was raining. On that one occasion, the sun was shining. It happened again today while it was raining, and continued to sound after the rain had stopped, but the road was still wet.
What could be causing this to happen, and how can it be prevented. I have decided to fit an ON-OFF switch, if the problem cannot be solved conventionally.
My main aim whilst driving my 2005 SC430 is to tell the nav unit to navigate home (more on that later).
Despite speaking loudly, softly, slowly, faster, etc, etc - if fails to ever recognise 'home'.
I get fm radio, am radio, heads up, etc, etc
Is there anyway to actually get this to work?
On the same note, read lots of apparently different hacks to disable the lock on inputting a new destination whilst driving - but none seem to work.
So I went on a little trip about 500 km away.. when i got there everything was normal.. next day while hanging with my buddies my Engine light, VSC and VSC OFF light came on.. I wasn't pushing the car or anything, driving normal and going around 120 to 135 kph on hwy there. Usually people would panic but in the past I have had cars that got these lights and usually its just a sensor.
I mean the car drives perfectly normal, i have driven it 900 km after the light, the temperature doesn't rise, there is no leaks anywhere, there is no smell, engine oil is all there, everything seems perfectly fine. I read a few threads referring to the oxygen sensor? I am thinking of getting that replaced.. how many are there that I would have to change? Also someone mentioned ABS sensor in another thread.. not sure what that has to do with the engine, i mean ABS has its own light right?
