I have a 2005 sc430 and the starter went out so i changed it but after i had change it its making a loud noise. So I don't know if its the starter or the intake manifold that is making that loud noise it sounds like i have a big supercharger on it or something every time i rev the motor u can hear it spool like a turbo...
View 3 RepliesI bought my 2014 Corolla new a little over 3 years ago. Yesterday, when I was leaving work to head home I went to start my car and I was just met with my starter making a loud buzzing noise. My lights in my car, car fob, and etune radio were all working properly, but the car was just not able to start! My coworker told me that he heard of a trick where if you knock on the starter with something while trying to start it, it might give it enough of a kick to get going. Whether or not it was coincidence, it did work.
I was able to drive home, about 15 minutes (still daylight, did not need car lights), with no trouble. When I got home I turned my car off and waited for a few seconds and tried to start again. It worked, but it sounded like it struggled. I did it one more time and it failed with that same noise again. I resolved that I would just go get a new battery in the morning.
In the morning, my car was able to start, albeit with some struggle again. I made it all the way to work, and over lunch I was able to start it again and drive it to AutoZone to have them test the battery starter alternator. They told me the battery was too depleted to test it, so I went across the street to Walmart and bought a new battery. After replacing it, the car started like a champ as expected, and I drove back to Autozone to have them test my alternator and starter. The starter came back good, but they said that there was a fault in the test with the alternator. I gave them my old battery and asked them to trickle charge and test it just to see if it happened to still be a good battery that was just losing charge, or if it really was just a dying battery.

View 6 RepliesHave had SC430 for over 10 years, 94000 miles. Have loud buzzer sound behind dash on startup or when key is turned to on position. The sound last 10-20 seconds and goes off. I have turned the AC off and tried different modes, no change. Everything seems to be working fine with the AC. Could this be a servo motor, the noise is not coming from the engine compartment. Any thoughts on problem and how to fix it. It makes this sound on every startup.

I did not use the car for 2 months while I was away.
So 2 weeks ago I noticed that after 30 minutes of driving on the highway my steering wheel started making a loud growling noise and vibrating really hard! When I hit the brakes it got worse but got better as I slowed to 30 mph. It doesn't happen all the time and not right away, only after a while of driving and the dealership says without codes they can do nothing...
View 7 RepliesI just got a 2009 lexus gs 350 everything is perfect except when i go into reverse and back up slowly the brakes make a loud squeaking noise!! Its really annoying and embarrassing. I got the rotors resurfaced and nothing.
View 3 Replies'05 Gx470 w/ 93k mi. Time for new parts for all orig. frt. suspension? Started having "Clunking" up frt. Assume time for new shocks all around. Also, grease from upper ball joints half-way down steering knuckle arm, so probably dry? Thinking of replacing everything up frt. incl. hub bearings while have all apart and be done w/ it. Notice in FSM that this means replacing both upper and lower control arms that come w/ bushings and ball joints installed. Parts very pricey even w/ discounts ( 27% at myLparts), somewhere around $3,500 +/-, incl. rr. shocks. Rather cry once and hopefully get get another 90K +/- mi. w/o problems. I've always gone w/ OEM parts in past and probably paid the price, but since I'm doing all the work, hopefully evens out in long run.
View 1 RepliesTrying to load the CD ... I put in 6 discs I've tried them label up, label down, Compact Disc Digital Audio, and regular CD-RI hear the changer making noise when installed. The system won't play the CDs. It just says "No CD" At one point it put up a "Bluetooth connectivity problem" message. The rest of nav sys seems to work. 2005 Nav Sys Factory Changer. I've never used it and just got the car.
View 8 RepliesI bought a BatteryMinder Model 2012 charger. This is a low-amperage temperature-compensating multi-stage charger/maintainer/desulfator that is supposed to avoid the wear and tear that lesser chargers inflict on batteries in long-term storage.
The charger comes with a 2-foot cable section with a terminal connection on one end and a capped plug on the other. I like the idea of an easy disconnect so I don't have to get under the hood each time I want to take the car out for a jaunt. My first thought was to run the cable and plug to the grill area of the car, except there's no easy way to do this without the plug showing. Also, the permanently-attached cable is only 2-feet long.
So I'm wondering about the windshield wiper tray, passing from the battery over the hood's rubber seal:
I attached a photo, showing where the charger cable might run. I can't see any conflict with the wiper or other functions. Am I missing anything?
The charger itself would be screwed to the garage wall.
Also, how about using a charger/maintainer with a cover over the car? This charger should not be pushing the battery and causing any water loss. So, I'm thinking that destructive gases should not be a problem. Again, am I missing something?
I have a 2000 F150 XLT 5.4L truck. I noticed the AC went out about a month ago and since then I could hear the AC/Clutch bearing making noise. Well I went to start it the other day after eating dinner out and it wouldn't start. It sounds like it wants to start but it just doesn't have enough umph. I replaced the starter and charged the battery up to 100 percent. It still won't start.
If I take the belt off it will start and I checked the AC/Clutch and I can move it with my bear hands. I tried disconnecting the AC/Clutch fuse and relay but that didn't work. Is it possible that the Clutch is freezing up when I try to start it?
I have recently started to hear (at frequent intervals) a loud buzzing sound that can best be described as a phone vibrating/buzzing while its on a table. The sound happens every few minutes and is pretty annoying. It seems to be coming from around the navigation area or glove compartment - i cant pinpoint it. I turned off the radio and AC and the sound is still present. My Navigation Wood cover has been STUCK for a few months (doesn't come out and shut nor tilt) but not sure if that is the cause here. What can be causing this sound?
View 14 RepliesIt just happened yesterday on the freeway, as I hit a small bump. Need to mention this stretch of freeway has those extremely annoying ridges that make everything rattle inside the car, besides the deafening tire howling. But after they're gone, all used to be well. Yesterday, after said bump, this very loud noise behind the center air vents started all of a sudden. It increased with speed.
Sounded like a motor turning. Thought it was the NAV motor (which I never use), but opened it and closed it, and it functioned well. Tried the motor for the stereo cover, and also worked fine. When the motors were operating the sound persisted. The noise disappeared below 50 mph. And not even in broken pavement was present. After speeding above 50 again, now in smooth pavement, it was back. I guess it's there to stay... until 'killed'.
I HATE dealers going on a fishing expedition in my cars, so prefer to know what the heck is causing it, and preferably do it myself (don't trust the only dealer in town). I'll try to tackle it myself, but no way I can live with that noise, so a trip to the dealer seems almost certain, as I don't have a service manual yet to get behind the dash.
what can i do to make my truck really lout? ive already cut 2 cats out and ran 2.25 strait pipes and its not even that loud would it hurt to cut the other 2 cats out??
View 10 RepliesAfter not driving the car for over a week, the battery was dead and I discovered that I had not fully shut the trunk. I hooked up a charger/maintainer with the battery still installed in the car and it has been on for 48+ hours and it still shows as charging. I have several of the chargers and use them on other cars/motorcycles where they work as expected. I've never had one take this long to indicate charged.
I'm sure others are using maintainers and wondering if it is normal that the charger does not indicate full charge. Voltage with charger running is ~14.7 and ~13.7 unhooked. I believe it is a 4a charger.
What is normal voltage when fully charged and what is minimum voltage to crank starter?
Should have measured the voltage before hooking up the charger to know low it was......
2002 Ford 7.3L 2WD 200K miles ....My starter was making a grinding noise and the bolts had backed out. Wound up replacing the starter all together. Seemed to work for a little while and then went back to making the grinding noise again. I took the starter back and got a warranty replacement and took it to the shop last week to have it installed with lock-tite. It worked perfectly for a few days and then went back to grinding again yesterday afternoon. Why it is still doing it? I bought a new Duralast Gold 5154 starter from Autozone.
View 1 RepliesI replaced my brake pads and rotors and now the driver's side brake has a loud pitched squeal. It doesn't squeal all the time and if I let up on the brakes and apply them it goes away.
I think maybe one piston is hung up.
How do you free up a stuck piston in the caliper piston?
Or could there be another reason for the squeal.
I installed Callahan slotted rotors and ceramic pads on all 4-wheels.
So I've had my 2015 IS250 for only 7-8 months, and it happened to rain in CA. My windshield wipers were put to use, but the wipers make loud noises. The rubber does not seem to wipe the glass smoothly or quietly as it skips or drags when the wipers go up. Will the dealership fix this at no cost?
View 3 RepliesI hope I didn't just happen to notice this today if it has been going on for any length of time now. I started up our '05 this morning and she's definitely whirring at idle. I do not recall hearing this sound at all recently and we've been on a couple lengthy trips with it. Fluid levels all appear normal.
Had my wife start it up too and she agreed that the whirring was not there previously. What are the most likely candidates into which I should look first? It' not high pitched, but a steady muted whir of the type I might expect to hear when two gears spin while making contact.
I have a 2005 SC430 and all of a sudden the alarm is going off. Twice today once at 6am and then at 7.30am. Since then (it's nearly 2.30pm) - nothing.
I've not changed anything inside the car since it went off this morning - and nobody was trying to get into the car. The problem of course is that it autolocks and turns on the alarm.
This has only just recently started happening. Is there anyway just to lock the car and disable the alarm?
I have an '05 Lexus SC430 with 53,000 miles on it. For the past couple of years, I have noticed an intermittent antifreeze smell (sweet odor) when driving. It never lasts for long and is apparently coming out of the vents. I can not figure out any common denominator to cause this, other than the radiator was replaced in Nov. 2014. My long-time mechanic has ridden with me a few times and I am unable to recreate for him to diagnose.
