I have a 02, sc430. Modded with blitz supercharged and straight exhaust all the way..( accept the 2 catalytic converter before the o2 sensor.) But I have slight delay or lag during the first gear. From (rpm) 1k to 4k its delay or lag.(not revving smooth). But when its reach 4k and above, the power just kicks in suddenly.

1. My 2002 SC430 with 23,000 miles on it is making a low rubbing noise when slowing down, with a slight vibration, not severe enough, but it is annoying and frankly surprising on this car. The dealer tells me it's because the brakes have "glaze" on them, and short of a new brake job, you can jam on the brakes to clear or loosen some of this and reduce the noise. ( I live in the desert so I'm sure I could find a deserted stretch or road for this craziness...) The dealer reports the brakes have 70 - 80 percent life on them and I don't need a brake job.
2. Power steering. I thought this particular car was just hard to steer, but even the tech at the dealer commented it's like I have no power steering. I test drove two other cars, and the steering is markedly lighter on the other two SC430's I drove. (2002 and 2005) Dealer can't seem to find an explanation, but I have to drive this car with two hands around town... I know this is not the way this car was intended to feel.
I don't believe the car changed that much from the 2002 model so as to affect the steering. BTW, I'm using stock tires, not run flat, 4 months old. And the steering is stiff at idle anyway, regardless of tires. The first SC I drove, which sealed the decision to buy one, was so quiet I didn't know the engine was running, easy to steer, and smooth.
The lexus sc430 is nice but when I floor it , there is a 2-3 second delay until she kicks down and really takes off. Someone said there is actually an adjustment on the transmission to eliminate this delay. Never heard of such a thing.
View 3 RepliesMy truck has 112,000 miles on it and I have been having a slight delay in the transmission from 1st to 2nd. The switch is easily felt but, it's not a hard clunk when it engages. After that there's no problem. Additionally, when I switch to reverse it can take a full second to feel it engage before I give it gas. The transmission fluid looks fine and the levels are fine, too. Have not had a flush done and but I was thinking about changing the fluids and seal.Also, wanted to ask about my rear suspension. The leaf springs have lost a bit of their spring and was wondering if those "add a leaf" kits are worth it. The truck rides level but any loads in the bed cause it to really sag. I put new shocks in which improved the quality but the concern is just the leafs.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2002 SC 430 with 68,000 miles on it. Having problems with the transmission? Today, I could not go forward in any gear...could go in reverse. I turned off the ignition and re-started the engine, then the car worked fine.
Tonight I went out and the car was fine. However, later had the same problem.
I'm having problems with my automatic transmission in a 2002 Saturn SL. About 2 months ago I noticed a delay when I would put my saturn in reverse and it would sort of kick into gear after a few seconds (up to 10seconds sometimes). I wasn't worried much about this at first until another problem started happening. Between second and third gear it seems to be shifting slow/hard(?). I can feel where it wants to shift, but its slow to shift and actual revs high before shifting down. The problem doesn't always exist, and some days its more then others. We took it to get a transmission fluid/filter change and this didn't solve the problem. Took it back for a transmission diagnositc and GM told us we need to replace the transmission or do an overhaul. They didn't explain why really though- no clear answer. I've heard everything from the torque converter to a solenoid problem.

View 11 RepliesI have a slight squeal from the left rear brake when in reverse. Doesn't do it all time and never when roads are wet. I disassembled the caliper and all looks good. I replaced the pads about a year ago and the noise just recently started, so its hard to blame that. I did not use the brake anti-noise lube......but I never have.
View 2 RepliesFor the past day and a half, when i start my car there isn't the usual smooth, quiet sound of the engine starting. There's a slight delay, and a whirring noise. When i put the car into gear and accelerate, the noise increases in volume and pitch. I think it might be something with the power steering pump or a belt issue, but I'm not fluent in Car and Driver speak.

wheel alignment
2 rims rerolled that were out of round
bushes and suspension all checked
moved wheel positions front to back etc
Thinking now maybe driveshaft or uni joints ? or new tires but that's an expensive exercise !!
About a month ago, the Service Engine Light (CEL) came on and as a result there was a very slight delay in shifting and the Turbo did not engage at all. I brought it to the dealership for scanning. Error codes read as per work order:
P2562: Turbocharger Boost control Position sensor 'A' circuit
P2563: Turbocharger Boost Control Position Sensor 'A' Circuit range/performance
"The tech tested the pins and wires from the sensor to the PCM and all tested fine." Concluded sensor was faulty and ordered replacement part.
Once part was in, they performed the work to replace the sensor, test drove it and pronounced okay. By that same evening, the SEL came back on and the same symptoms developed. Brought it back the next morning and the same error codes came up. My dealership escalated the issue to the engineers with Hyundai and a couple of days later they replied with a possible solution.
From work order following:
"As per RO performed 11-20-007 Sonata Turbo EWGA inspection and adjustment form DTC P2562. Vehicle had under 4.1 V, adjusted rod from waste gate accordingly and road tested. Engine light did not come back on and vehicle operating normally".
I've waited a few days under normal driving conditions before posting and can state the the SEL has not returned and vehicle does indeed seem to be back to normal.
Apparently these symptoms are known for the 2.0T in the Sonata (i haven't verified this) which led the engineers to suggest checking the waste gate.
I've been noticing over the past couple years that sometimes when I accelerate, there's a slight delay between the time I press my foot down on the pedal and when acceleration actually happens. From reading other threads it would seem that the most common fix is to re-flash the ECU. I bought a DiabloSport Predator tuner along with a CAI a while back to improve performance/gas mileage and I was wondering if there's a way I can use the tuner to re-flash.
If not, do most ford repair shops already carry these? I don't want to buy a flash programmer. Also, if the shop does carry this type of an item, what is the average cost to get it re-flashed?
I own an '04 F150 XLT 5.4l.

View 4 RepliesNoticed the antenna did not go all the way down. It will also not go up. When I turn the radio off the motor grinds for few seconds but the antenna does not go all the way down. Mast problems? Any links how to fix it?

View 6 RepliesMy check engine light came on.. so I took it to express tires.. And they said that they need to replace my vacuum hoses cause it busted ... well when I saw the guy used the obd checker thing.. after checking the codes.. i saw that when u turned on the engine.. the vsc on and vcs off lights came on..
So I figured after he fixed the problem.. it will go off.. well after he got done.. fixing the problem.. I drove away.. after bout like 2min.. i had to turn around cause the vsc on and vsc off came on.. and I told the guy to check.. And he used his checker.. and there was no problem.. and the "check engine" light is not on anymore.. just the vsc on and vsc off!!
Could the checker.. messed it up??? the vsc off button.. only works when the key is turned on.. " not when the engine started but right before it.. when the power comes on" so the button is working correctly.. it just comes on.. when i start driving the car...
And no they did not check my tire pressure or do anything to the tires or the wheels.. it just turned on.. when he inserted the obd thing to check..

Is it dangerous to be driving with the vsc and vsc off light on??
I recently got into my 2002 SC430 and could not shift the car out of park. In addition, another symptom was that when I pressed the brake pedal, my rear brake lights would either come on momentarily and then turn off (looked like a strobe-light effect), OR the rear brake lights would not come on at all (the taillights, however, continued to function).
The only way to get around this issue was to use the manual override (by taking out the little plastic tab on the shifter and using a screw driver to press the hidden button, which would momentarily override and let me shift).
After much research, I found out that my Brake Switch/Sensor was failing (this is what tells the car's computer that you're pressing the brake pedal, and thus allowing you to shift out of Park). Unfortunately, I don't have the model number handy.
My non-Lexus mechanic charged me $100 (parts and labor) to replace the Brake Switch/Sensor. I'm not sure how much the actual part cost, but it couldn't have been much. It's a very scary feeling when you need to drive somewhere quick and you cannot shift out of Park.
I had to replace the ECU on my 2002 sc430. Although the original ECU was malfunctioningthe car started and was drivable (but the speedometer and odometer did not work, nor did the power steering). Following installing a used ECU, the car will now not start. I reset the ECU following the directions posted by others in this forum (both the gas pedal method and removing the fuses), but that has not fixed the problem. Do I need to have the dealer sync the key to the new ECU?
View 6 RepliesI just purchased a 2002 sc430 and the steering was nice and solid. It needed new tires, so I purchased them at tire kingdom. they told me I needed a steering flush (lexus did as well at my oil change) so I to0ld them to do the flush. When I got my car back, the steering was so flaty, I have to keep my hand on the wheel all the time, they gave me an upgraded tire, to the falken, felt a little smoother but still floaty. brought it to lexus, they said it was the tires. the rear needed 255 and front 245. they upgraded the tires again and I still have the floating steering wheel.
View 3 RepliesToday I noticed that our 5R110 was delaying slightly when shifting from drive to reverse. It was probably about a 1-2 second delay but it replicated itself twice in a row. There was no delay going from reverse to drive. It is just an engagement delay. We are running a Superchips Heavy Tow tune on the truck, it is a 2006 6.0 Powerstroke.
