My navigation door quit working, tilt function also, and it's stuck open. The Nav unit works fine. Dealer is telling me thousands to replace it - but I suspect it's like the Mercedes dealer where my SL was missing a $10 clip - and they wanted to replace the dashboard... I'm hoping it can be repaired. It makes a little "ping" sound then I turn the car off, but I don't hear the door motor.
View 14 RepliesThe navigation door stopped working about 6 months ago while the navigation screen still worked fine. Two weeks ago the door started to work as it should be, but today it stopped working again.
According to other threads people have published this could be from the door being off-track, a broken motor, and a blown fuse. Obviously none of these scenarios could be apply in our case.
Btw, I checked all fuses and could not find any problems with them.
Our car was rear-ended (we had a great shop to the repairs and the car drives/looks like it did pre-accident). However, the navigation door magically stopped working now that we have the car back. The navigation screen still works fine, but the open/cose buttons will not make the door/lid open.
On other threads I have searched here, people have suggested this could be from the door being off-track (not the case here), a broken motor (could be the case), and/or a blown fuse (also could be the case).
What fuse I would need to check if it is in fact a fuse? I've looked at the fuse boxes in the engine bay (by the battery) and in the trunk, but all fuses look fine. Is there anywhere else I should look for a fuse before wasting a day at the dealer to diagnose/fix the problem?
Recently purchased an 2002 SC430 and have an error on Navigation System which states the following...
DVD
UNABLE TO READ DATA
CHECK IF MAP DVD IS CORRECT
Dealer thinks it an internal failure at navigation ECU. Estimate for repair $1,256.00 OUCH..
My navigation and middle console have stopped working..I checked fuses.
View 2 RepliesSo out of the blue while driving, my navigation goes out into a blank grey screen. I took it in to one Lexus dealer and they thought my disk was bad. They said I should just order the new updated one.
I wasn't all that confident that the disk was the problem so I took it to another dealer (both were lexus), and they said I my computer was bad on the nav system and it would be $3000 to replace it unless they could pull it out of another vehicle, then it would be $1800. So my problem is, I would like to try the disk obviously first to see if that will solve the problem, but I don't want to shell out $300 and have it not work, and then learn it was the computer that was broke.
My navigation door will not open, and when I turn the radio on, it looks like it is playing - but no sound comes from speakers.
From digging around here, it looks like this could be a fuse problem - but both of these at the same time? Are they the same fuse? Are the fuses I would need to replace in the passenger side or under the hood?
BTW... it was pretty comical getting to the fuse thing in the passenger foot well - I am just over 5 feet tall, so it was easier to do it head down, feet near the headrest of the seat!
My navigation system just shut off and the screen reads" can not read disk" . Any solution for this problem?

The door locks quit working. The previous owner did the tin foil repair... I replaced the four door actuators today. Now all of the doors lock and unlock on the manual buttons. The fob doesn't work on any door.. when i try and use the door code pad, the locks go into a cycle.. the keep trying to operate by themselves. I had to disconnect the battery to get it to stop. I can't find the door lock relays. I have most of the dash out. Where these are?
Whats going on with my 2002 SC430. Every time someone (valet) puts the key in the door to unlock it, the car completely shuts down. The remote won't work. The only way to get it going again is to have the door popped open. This sets off the alarm but once the key is in the ignition and started, it's all good. What is going on and how to correct this?
View 10 RepliesI've been trying to program the remote on 2 keys. With the sequence found online and in this forum, I did the insert/remove several times with no success. I then tried to turn the master key ON/OFF TWICE, which erases all the other remotes. Still did not program the new key, but now it seems to have affected my door lock buttons in the doors.
When I hit the lock buttons inside the car, the lock is sluggish, and I cannot repeatedly lock/unlock from the door switch. The second or third try gets a dull thud and the door lock only moves partially into the lock position.
Is it possible to reset the door locks so they again click in place with a nice, beefy motion?
Got an interesting electrical issue on my 2004. I'm not sure if the issues are related but they happened at the same time. About a week ago the nav door stopped closing and the seat memory buttons stopped working. When you press the close button the nav screen moves back but the door never closes. The seat memory buttons on the door don't work either but the seat adjustment controls do work. When adjusting the seat position, as the seat moves moves, you hear beeping. It sounds like the same beep that you hear when memorizing a seat position. I checked and tested all the fuses they seem to be good.
View 7 RepliesA couple of weeks back out of the blue my Nav screen stopped tilting back and of course if it doesn't tilt back the door won't close. I did the Lexus Diagnosis on the Tilt and Close Switches and it turns out to be something in the 'Nav' unit. Of course Lexus doesn't sell parts for the Nav unit... just the whole thing.
Since that time I have spent way too much time on diagnosing it and I actually tried another used unit that has the same problem as mine. What I think that I have figured out is that the motors are ok but the control unit, a small circuit board within the nav unit has failed. The problem is that this unit has 2-3 IC chips on it and any way to repair this circuit board.
Any luck repairing these circuit board or am I stuck.... The I was able to retract the unit into the dash and the door opens and closes but it would be nice if it tilted as they had intended...
2002 sc 430--interior door latch cable is broken at the ball. Is it possible to (purchase and) replace just the cable or is the cable integrated with the locking mechanism, requiring replacement of the whole unit. Also, need to get just cable and/or integrated cable/lock mechanism.

A locksmith came and instead of using the tool to unlock using the unlock button, he just pulled the regular lever inside with the tool to open the door while it was locked. Since then I cannot open the driver's side door from the inside. It will open, lock and unlock fine from the outside. It is unlocked when I attempt to open it from the inside. I pull the lever and nothing happens. I have to unroll the window and open the door using the outside handle or crawl over to exit from the passenger side door.

View 14 RepliesOn occasion the navigation unit will not let me enter a new address. I have the car turned on, in park, and the screen has the address option grayed out. It will let me enter previous destinations but not new addresses. This has been occurring more frequently recently. If I drive for a half hour or so,the address then becomes available again (sometimes it does not). It is not the disk, I have tried a new one with the same results.

View 5 RepliesDiagnosing different minor problems with my sc430. Tthe lastest one is that my navigation screen will not tilt back so the cover will go over it. It seems like its tilted forward all the way. The screen still works and all. But the tilt button does nothing and its too far out for me to get the wood grain cover to go over it. Is this a common issue? and whats the remedy?

Unfortunately the "I agree" is on right side so I can't even get passed that screen. I don't use the nav but I'd rather have the map showing then "Caution...."
