I recently picked up a cpo rx 350 and my steering wheel makes a squishy rubber-rubber friction kinda noise when I turn - especially when I am reversing. Is it common and does it go away?
View 14 RepliesI have a 2007 ford edge that when you turn left or right it sounds like the traction control is activating and makes a ratcheting noise. I have replaced cv joints and wheel bearings.
View 4 RepliesOur 2012 RX350 was recently in for collision repair (minor) at the dealer's shop and upon return all is well except that the one touch feature of the moonroof is gone. The open/close and up/down buttons all seem to do both functions now. I can't find reset procedure.
View 6 RepliesI recently notice the front right tire on my GS makes a bearing sound like at 40mph and increases at 55mph. Anything after 60mph is not too bad. I looked at the tire and notice the inner top of the tire is wavy. My brother says the strut is bad. I think not because, the car dose not bounce and strut is dry of fluids. The car has 38K miles on it, alignment was done by dealer at 35K ...
I did rotate the tires front to rear sound went away for a day and started back up again.so I know its not the bearing. Do I need better tires? another alignment? or strut?
Currently my wife owns the 2011 RX350 and we are having issues with our sunroof making loud mechnical noise when tilting up and down We have already address the issue with our local Lexus dealer and all they did was lubricate the sunroof and after a month or so the noise comes back We have tried to address the issue again with them mutilple times and all they can say that it happens to all the RX350
View 4 RepliesJust got a 2012 Lexus RX 350, but find out that the engine sound is quite "noisy" in the lower gear or when pushing the pedal. Is this just my car, or is common?
View 14 RepliesI purchased a 1985 celica GTS, convertible, rear wheel drive. I am having a problem with the drivers side power window. I can raise and lower the window with a direct 12v battery hook up to either the lift motor or from the terminals that connect to the switch. The switch will lower the motor but not raise it. When activated to raise the window you can hear the motor enterguise but will not lift. I check the voltage at the switch and I am getting 12 volts. What should I check next?
View 3 Repliesi drove my car for the first time in a few weeks and i noticed when i brake my car makes a slight thumping noise and has a slight vibration. i looked at my brakes and they look fine, they are brand new, less then 5k miles on them.
i thought it was maybe i haven't driven them a while and it was from a rust and dirt built up, but its not.
not sure what it might be, tried to record a video but it didn't come out all that great.
I rented my car for a few days on Turo and it returned with this problem. The renter says nothing happened, who knows. When I raise or lower the window, there is a loud pop/crack that happens. It always happens at the same height. I can raise and lower the window for a couple inch around that point and reproduce that sound everythime.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2012 accent. Left front window rapidly clicks when I try to raise and lower glass and glass won't move.
View 2 RepliesI bought my first vehicle last October, a '99 F-250 with a 6.8 V10. I later found out (AFTER hauling a big load of rocks in a dump trailer) that one of the bottom leaf springs was broken. So this winter I have been thinking on what I want to do about it when it warms up. This is pretty much on top of the "to do" list for my truck. I did make a thread about putting 1 ton springs under it, but I think I'll just stick with the regular 3/4 ton springs. So now this is where I have another question, and I think this pic will tell some of it:
Now I'm not sure if those rear springs are stock, but that rear end is way the heck up there! The truck itself is not level, the front looks to be correct height, but not the back. A buddy at school and I were talking about a leveling kit for the front. But the more I look at it, I think the rear end should come down. I don't want to get bigger tires, as I just put brand new Transforce AT's on the back and plan to put new ones on the front in the near future.
Another question of mine is, would this have been a truck ordered just for pulling a camper? It has holes for a fifth wheel hitch in the bed, the rear end sits high, and it didn't come with a tow package. The PO told me that he put the receiver hitch on it. I'm fixing up stuff on it one thing at a time. Springs just happen to be next on the list.
My son recently purchased this truck in Jan., 2017, upon inspecting the vehicle we noticed the rear driver and passenger windows would not raise or lower. When I asked the seller about this his comments were " I believe it to be a master switch issue". Ok so no big deal, I purchased and replaced the master switch with no luck. I didn't spend much time on it due to the cold weather. After digging into this a little more I'm very confused now. So here is where I currently am at with this issue.
Power is not the problem, I am reading approx. 14V at the master switch and at the rear door switches. I've checked and have power when the switch is toggled to simulate raising and lower of the window (approx. 12 to 13.5V). The window lift motors have been taken out and cleaned and inspected. The motor will operate properly with a 12V battery pack (both motors, driver and passenger side). I have power all the way to the motor itself, slightly less than 14Volts.
I can raise and lower the window in the truck by plugging into the back of the female connector with the outside power source but not with the power supply from the truck. I have continuity between the power(blue) and ground(black) wires at the switches. So this is where I am at, also just a reminder the front windows and door locks work fine. Just a side note, this truck has aftermarket mirrors on it so that branch of the harness is left hanging.
I have a stock GTI MKVI and now if I turn or cut the wheel sharp to park (all at slow speed) I get a ratcheting sound from up front. It is not the suspension "clunk" that some lowered cars get.
View 7 RepliesI have a buddy who has an 01 B5 w/ 1.8t and 5 speed. He asked me to try and find out why it has been making a mysterious noise. I do all my own work, so I know a few things, but this noise has me stumped.
On startup, it will make an almost ratcheting kind of sound. Clattery, grumbly ratcheting sound... Goes away in a few seconds. It will also occasionally do this on acceleration.
Now, I am not hugely familiar with the 1.8t (in fact, my VW experience is largely a B4 TDI) so I'm not sure where to start.
One note though- I changed his oil for him, and the first startup right after the oil change the sound almost didn't happen at all. From then on resumed its obnoxious habit.
What this could be? Engine? Tranny? Something else? I didn't get a response over in the 1.8t area so I'm trying here.
Just recently his turbo has decided to contribute very little to power. You can hear it spool a little bit, but it's not what it used to be.
Just recently he had to have his intercooler replaced due to running over a semi tire. I have yet to pull his belly pan to look for loose fittings.
I have a 2010 Accent. My Accent has a tapping sound when the engine is cold. I have read on this site that others have had this problems and it was the chain tensioner. I was wondering if this was something Hyundia would fix for free or how much it cost to get this fixed. Is there a recall for this problem? There appears to be a problem with a chain tensioner on the 2010 model of Accent.
View 26 RepliesSee the video, need to figure out this sound. It is currently at the dealership but I don't have much faith in them rectifying the problem : [URL] ....
View 4 RepliesDue to the clicking-ratcheting sound my 1997 Civic makes when I make hard turns or U turns, two mechanics (one drove the car) say that I need two new front axles at a cost of $400 ($200 each). I have driven the car like this for maybe a couple thousand miles before I looking into it. How much longer can I drive it like this before it gets dangerous or fails? I now only make gentle turns and so minimize the clicking-ratcheting sounds that happen only on hard or aggressive turns. The car only has 76,000 miles on it. Is it dangerous to keep driving it?
View 7 RepliesI have a 2005 F350 SD with 217K. It's got a Magnaflow aftermarket exhaust and newer OEM turbo. When I'm driving uphill and around 1800 RPM or higher, the engine makes this weird ratcheting sound when I let off the gas. It almost sounds like air is backflowing somewhere. It doesn't do it on level streets or downhills or when I'm below about 1500 RPM. The sound is not a metal on metal type sounds. It literally sounds like high pressure air backflowing somewhere or not being discharged properly. Also, I bought the truck used a couple months ago. So I'm not sure of all of the aftermarket upgrades done to the engine.
View 7 RepliesI have a 1997 Subaru Legacy sedan with a 2.2L engine with AWD. When I step on the brakes I hear a ratcheting type of sound and feel pulsations in the brake pedal. There is no problem with brake performance that I have noticed. We have replaced the front rotors and front brake pads.We also replaced the rear passenger side brake caliper. It still makes a loud ratchet/groaning-like sound. It makes the sound when you first start braking after starting the car and intermittently while driving. It's not constant when you step on the brakes.
View 3 RepliesBought a new '14 GX a few weeks ago. I noticed the rear is not level. The RR is 1" lower than the LR. This is true with the vehicle running (air suspension charged) or off. When standing behind the vehicle, it is very noticeable.
