When a friend recently let me drive a 2013 Nissan Altima, I was blown away by how much quieter it is then the RX I was shocked to read all the hundreds of posts here about wind noise issues with LX models, and fascinated by the letters to and from Lexus by Lexus owners about the problem

winter has been tough here in the north with -30 Celsius (-22 F) every other week. when it's that cold there's squeaking noise from the dashboard / windshield area. mainly from the intersection of both.
Once the car is out of the garage it's ok for a few minutes then noise starts. this only happens if the weather is colder than -10 C (14 F) (i can't blame the car as my bones squeak when it's colder than-10 ) This is definitely an expansion/contraction issue.
The dealer indicated that they will have to remove the dashboard to fix the problem and recommended that I wait towards the end of the warranty, observe other issues and fix all at once as multiple removal of the dashboard may bring new problems (i.e. snapped pieces may get loose).
My 2012 RX350 now for over a year and like it a lot.........BUT.
There's seems to be a lot "road noise" that's transmitted back into the cabin, like driving over expansion joints on blacktop or rough road surface, is this normal?
I drove a 2000 RX300 for 100,000 miles and don't remember it being this noisy. Interior noise is great and quiet.
I have a 2012 RX350 with about 25k miles. Remote FOB will not start the car. Strange problem that I cannot find anywhere. The batteries were replaced in both FOBs because they were showing 2.6v. Still will not start.
Pressing LOCK, LOCK, HOLD LOCK you can hear the click of the doors locking but the flashers do not flash. After holding lock for the 3 seconds the flashers will flash 4 times, then nothing. All other functions of the fob work correctly.
I was thinking about removing the car battery for awhile (kind or a reboot, maybe) before bringing to dealer (110 miles away).
Just got a (second) 2012 RX350. 13,000 miles. The Distance to Empty is confusing me. Doesn't come close to matching the tank size times either the mpg since last fill-up, or the overall average mpg. Overall mpg is 17.x. mpg since last fill-up varies from 17-21. But when I fill the tank, the DTE says maybe 260. With a 20gal tank the DTE after a fill-up should be in the 340-350 range.
This isn't happening on our other 2012 RX350 with about the same number of miles.
The needle gas gauge appears to be right, based on where the needle is before a fill-up and the number of gallons purchased.
With the temps at a all time low in the U.S. this week, my TPMS warning light has come on in my 2012 RX350. It will stay very cold for most of the week, so is it ok to drive with my warning light on.
I don't want to check my psi in the tires with a tire gauge because I was told a valve stem can freeze open in extreme cold letting the tire to go completely flat.
I'm not sure this is by design but the buttons for sunroof and garage door are not illuminating at night. I would like to know if your vehicles have the same behavior. I try to look for any info in the manual but can't find anything. I thought there would be a switch somewhere that turns this on and off but I can't find it anywhere either. My brother-in-law has a 2012 Toyota Sienna van and these buttons do light up at night while my 2012 RX350 does not. I find it interesting for a luxury vehicle.

View 14 RepliesMy RX350 has less than 18K miles and it has signs of bad valve seals. If I start the vehicle after it sits for a while, a large puff of blue smoke emits from the tail pipe. My 02 Dodge with 188K miles doesn't even do this.
View 2 RepliesI've been noticing a tremendous amount of wind noise going 70+ on the highway. My car only has 18K over a course of 4 years. The only the possible think I can think is the seals have dried because of standing in the sun for so long at school and then not getting garaged when I get home, my mom's and dad's car get priority. It used to be garaged when it was my moms. I don't think the sun can dry out the seals so quickly.
View 14 RepliesI heard noises like a small pump noise and a hissing air sound above the muffler area. The car had been sitting for hours and no key fob close to it. I was climbing under it looking at something else when I heard it. Sounds like a tiny electric motor running with an air hiss. Passenger side. Just bought the vehicle last week. It has 27k miles on it. Had to replace battery the other day. Said battery was replaced a year ago. Wonder if this is hurting the battery? Start great in the morning. Vapor fuel pump?

View 14 RepliesMy 2010 RX350 started to make 'hum - hum - hum' noise whiling turning. It is fine while driving straight, only makes this noise while on a curve. If I disable traction control, the noise seems going away, at least it is a lot less.
View 3 RepliesExperienced excessive road noise with RX350? I have a 2014 with Dunlop tires, and on certain types of asphalt roads the road noise is incredibly high --- on other types it is unnoticeable. I'm thinking it might be the tires, but I'm not certain.
View 4 RepliesI keep my 2015 RX 350 in the garage, and last night I noticed a humming or buzzing noise coming from it. I switched the ignition to accessory position and turned it off and the noise stopped. A search here turned up many discussions noting is is the gas evaporation leakage check valve and it is a normal function of the vehicle. My question, is this some sort of pump that is running and causing battery drain?
View 3 RepliesI am on my third RX now with my 2014 RX350. Previous to this car I had a 2007 RX400H which I loved. I find this new car much noisier when on pavement than my RX400H. Noticed the interior noise on the 2014 to be quite loud. I compared to my wifes Mercedes ML350 also a 2014 too and it's much louder.
View 10 RepliesJust a couple of months ago, I bought a 2010 RX350 CPO, and the car seems to have developed a strange issue. When I brake and come to a stop, it sounds almost like a choo-choo train coming from the back of the car. That's the best way I can describe it. A few thumps/chugs spaced apart as I am applying the brakes to come to a stop.
What this might be? Annoying that I already need to bring this in for service, but I suppose that's what I'll need to do. Would seem like a warranty issue, but either way, the dealer better take care of this without charge.
We have a 2010 RX350. It makes a noise at a strange time. While in the garage with the engine off sometimes it makes a humming noise. The noise can last up to five minutes. It sounds like it could be coming from the back but not positive. The car has not been operated for several hours when the noise occurs. If I start the engine and immediately cut it off the noise goes away. I know that it will never do this if I take it to the Lexus dealership.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2011 bought new. The car has had every service and recommended service at the original Lexus dealer Sithtown Lexus on Long Island. The car developed a tapping noise at about 30,000 miles. Every service I tell the service dept and they always tell me its normal? Problem is the noise doesn't go away after the car is warmed up. It is always there no matter how much I drive it. I have heard some members say the dealers say its the fuel injectors making noise but this seems to be slowly getting louder . The car has 53000 miles now and I am getting the impression the dealer IE Lexus is trying to avoid a major engine job until after the 60000 mile engine warranty is up. How do I get this taken care of , they seem to be adamant about it being normal.
View 7 RepliesHave noticed a thumping noise when braking at a Low speed on my 2013 RX 350. Brought it to the attention of my Lexus service mgr at the 5000 mile service. He did a test ride and heard the same thumping sound. He then test drove another 2013 RX at the dealership which made the same noise.
View 14 RepliesIs it all the lexus rx350 had that noise? From the day I noticed hissing noise when I gentally press the brake pedal down and release it . And same noise can be heard when drive slowly and release gas pedal.
