Is there a way to re-program the tailgate/rear door height? Or even manually adjust? Just purchased a 2012 RX 350, and my garage is about 4 inches too short. Now I realize I can disable the electronic lift, but it's a shame not to be able to use this feature. I'm sure others have had this problem, but I've googled with no success.
View 14 RepliesI just got a 2011 LX 570. The power rear door/tailgate opens just fine when pressing the button inside the car, or on the key fob. And closing it works fine as well from there as well as from the button on the door. However, when I press the larger "unlock" button on the tailgate itself, it does not open by itself. I have to manually open it.
I've read in a couple of places that this is a setting that the dealer must changed...IE to make that large unlock button also open the tailgate by itself instead of having to manually open it.
I have a 2006 GX470. It has some sort of automatic rear suspension height adjustment. When it is malfunctioning the rear of the car is jacked up like I have pimped it out. I use the height adjustment button but when I resume driving the car moves back into the neutral position which is not neutral at all it is jacked to the top. I had the sensors replaced once for $1,000 but within a year it was doing the same thing.
Now the light flashes to lower the back end but the back end doesn't move. I am stuck in the jacked up mode.
I have had the Prius since Jan 2008. Wife has developed arthritis in shoulders & can no longer reach up to rear tailgate when open. Looking for rigging up a height restrictor ? At present, use strap from rear luggage securing ring to the U-catch of the lock, but have to remove each time when closing. Any better solution?
View 1 RepliesSo I can successfully set the height at which the tailgate should stop, and in fact, the "power" function seems to stop there. But once the motors stop doing their thing, it just keeps slowly creeping up, as though the gas pressure in the struts is too strong for the tailgate weight. It's brand new, so this wouldn't be surprising. But is that the way it's supposed to work? If so, what's the point of setting a height at all? In my case, I want it top stop just a couple inches before hitting my garage door.
View 1 RepliesHaving issues with the rear tailgate door unlocking. Seems like mine on occasion is only making a noise but not unlocking completely and showing the door ajar light with the beep. When it happens, its a pain to get it to stop and close completely, or even open. I have to push hard on the door to get it to stop.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2010 F 150, it's a work truck. Every time I open the door all the parking lights interior lights cargo lights go on like a Christmas tree. Is there a way to program this truck so when you open the door all these lights do not come on.?
View 7 RepliesI have an '08 Touareg. The automatic door motor on the rear tailgate is having an issue. It closes with no problem when you push the button. However, when you try to open it, the door opens about half way and then cuts out. It is rather difficult to open the door manually. Is it a motor issue, or just a fuse or relay issue?

View 3 RepliesI took my 2003 GX470 for service (not a Lexus dealer), which included rear brake pads. After picking up my car, I realized there was a serious malfunction with the rear air suspension, and my "car height" was no longer working. I took it back to the mechanic immediately - he stated that the rear air bag deflated when they put it up on the lift (which is normal). However, they couldn't get it to inflate again, so had to order a new one. I'm wondering if this is the mechanic's problem or mine (the car has 101,000 miles on it).
View 3 RepliesI'm the owner of GX 470 2006 85 k miles, facing a problem of height control failure. The problem started some few months ago while starting the car. I there was a noise behind on the height compressor. Took it to my mechanical and the noise disappeared because the compressor wasn't well fixed to the body. Since then i'm not able to adjust the height of the car. The car remains at the height low level and jumping dangerously each time i drive it inside a hole. Decided to go back to the mechanical the following code error appeared during the diagnosis: P1445. How can this code be related to the height control system when we know that this code is related to the secondary air injection system switching valve?
I decided to change the 2 height sensors located on the R and L rear side of the vehicule and the VSV locate in the engine. The problem remains. Now the dashboard keeps the green light at N and the button to raise and low the height of the car is not responding. More the mechanic can't anymore obtain the errors code from his diagnosis device.
The 6 button powercode remote start and alarm will shut the engine down if you open the door after remote starting.
Here is the fix, I found it somewhere else. It's nice doing stuff yourself that the dealer tells you it cant be done.
open the drivers door
turn on the ignition
hold the program/override button for 15 sec (horn will chirp 3 times)
press the override button again horn will chirp 4 times
" " horn will chirp 5 times
" " horn will chirp 6 times
" " horn will chirp 7 times
" " horn will chirp 8 times letting you know you are in option bank 5.
press the panic button on the fob horn will chirp once
" " chirp twice
" " chirp three times
" " chirp 4 times
" " chirp 5 times
press the lock button on the fob once...your led alarm light will now be off.
Turn off the ignition
you are done
Enjoy
Activate the remote start open the door(smile) just don't press the brake before you put key in ignition and turn.
I own a 2004 GX470 and am recently having issues with my rear airbag. The height control is inoperative and the bags will not fill completely and lift the rear.
I went under the car and found the bumpstops are a few centimeters off the rear axle.
What could cause the height control to not function? Could it be the height sensor, airbag, etc? I could hear the air compressor turn on so do not think that is an issue.
I tried on the internet from Lexus home page to various auto sites. No mention at all. Surprising!
I saw a lot of complaints about the liftgate height, but no number.
I just purchased a 2004 rx330. I purchased a set of keys off amazon and tried to program them using Techstream. It will not allow me what so ever to program. it always gets to programming the key step and then says error between key and ecu. I have programmed tons of toyota keys using techstream and never had any issue with aftermarket keys so I bought another set from another vendor and they will not program either. I was able to manually program the remote for keyless entry so they will communicate with the car and are the right FCC ID number. I used to be a service advisor at Toyota so I do know more than the average person when it comes to these.
Also the power window master switch will not roll down the drivers side rear window or do auto for the drivers window. I have tried every combination to reset (we used to do them on the driver sometimes) and it still wont work. Drivers and drivers rear window buttons are flashing.
I have the 2010 VW Tiguan White SEL.
When I drive the car, per the specs, the locks all lock once I go over 5mph.
However, when I stop the car, the interior rear tailgate release button only unlocks the rear tailgate part-way: the tailgate is loose, but will not open. Same behavior when using the rear tailgate release button on the key remote.
The dealer told me they applied a "software patch" so that now when I drive the car, all the locks will still lock. The "software patch" however now causes all the locks to unlock once I stop the car and put it the car transmission into Park. Is this "software patch" and actual firmware upgrades or is the dealer just changing the Convenience settings on this car?
I have a 2010 RX350 that the power tailgate will open by itself. This happens when sitting and the car off and no keys in it. I had heard that an aftermarket auto start ( which I have) can make this happen sometimes.. Is that true.

View 1 RepliesOur 2010 base model GX 460 was 'born' in November 2009 and purchased new in February 2010, but we never used the 120 VAC power outlet at the back of the cargo compartment by the rear door hinge. I was cleaning and swapping 'summer' floor mats for 'winter' mats and decided to see if the outlet works. The appended pictures prove it does produce 120 VAC .... actually, almost 124 VAC, but I have no way to test if it can supply 100 Watts, much less the waveform shape. Perhaps it could light a 100 Watt incandescent bulb, but nothing sensitive to supply line glitches!
View 2 RepliesI just bought a 2010 RX450h and it is in overall great condition. The leather is damage though on the Rear Driver side door panel, so I am trying to remove it and get it repaired. I have removed 3 screws :
-one behind the door open/close latch
-one under the wood/window switch
-one in the handle area to pull door and close
I am now trying to take the panel off and have the bottom part pulled off. But I can't seem to pry open the top part... Am I missing something or a screw? Is there some trick? I am scared to break it.
My 2010 RX350 (~30k miles) recently has been making a squeaking noise when I close my rear lift gate. Sounds like the squeaking is coming from the left side "Rear Door Hatch Support" ..i believe that is what it is called. Is this something I can WD-40 and lube? Car is under warranty..
