Lexus RX 2010-15 :: Trunk Strut Get Rusty
Jun 3, 2016
I just bought a Lexus R350 2015. I didn't see the rusty from the trunk strut when I bought it. My question is the car is only 1 year old and the trunk strut rusty? Will the rust spread around other part of the car?

I just bought an used 2010 RX350. It has a button on the key that automatically opens the trunk, a button on the left of the drivers side that automatically opens the trunk and the button on the trunk that automatically closes it (so you don't manually close it). But after I bought it, I noticed that when I push the button on the underside of the trunk it does NOT automatically open.

Is there a way to have the 2011 RX350 lock all of the doors/trunk automatically when I press the close buton on back of trunk?
Once I press trunk close button on back of trunk, it seems have to wait until it closes before I can lock he entire car and walk away?
If I press the lock button too early, I get the alarm.

I am the new owner of a 2015 ES350 and I've found that my trunk can be opened using the button under the trunk lip even when I don't have the key fob in my possession (my 2014 Dodge Charger does the same thing). How to prevent anybody without the key fob in their possession from accessing my trunk?

OnApril 3, 2014, I purchased a 2007 Lexus RX350 with 60,000 miles. It was first driven in June or July of 2006, and I was told by numerous Lexus owners that Lexus was absolutely great about any problems I might have, Lexus was fabulous about putting customer service and care first.
Sometime in mid-July, when my mechanic was changing the oil, he noticed the rack and pinion steering were leaking. I did some research and discovered the leak was relatively common in the 2007 RX350 Lexus and most owners found they didn't need to do anything about the leak unless it was severe. I chose not to fix it at that time.
In late November, early December 2015, I noticed condensation behind both headlamp lenses. The headlamp on the driver's side was beginning to rust and the ballast had already been ruined. To fix the headlamps would require a full headlamp assembly. I called a local dealership and was told there was a voluntary recall or warranty. I don't remember the exact words.
Really? Six (6) months too late for a vehicle that had 60,000 miles on it. Now a car that I've had less than two (2) years currently with 80,000 miles, will require several thousand dollars to fix the headlamps.

So I replaced the front strut and the popping is still there. When I removed the old strut it seemed like that would be the problem as there isn't any play in the ball joints and tie rod end.

I'm getting my struts replaced tomorrow on all corners, but the mechanic said my sway bar might break and may require replacement because my car is around 10 years old, is this true?

I just changed to winter tires on my '09 ES350 and noticed that the strut is only about an 1.5" directly above the inside edge of the tire. See the photo, is this normal. FYI, winter tire is 17" and all specs are identical to the original.

Every time I am on the road I get this flat noise coming from the front like if the strut was out of air or something like that. It is a very annoying sound and only on certain bumps of the road.

I have a broken rear strut on my 2009 LS 460 with 27000 miles. First noticed it about 25000 but dealer said it was only the cold weather and all was fine. I had a mechanic friend ride with me and he said I had a broken part in the rear suspension. Back to the dealer and this time they test drove it and diagnosed the broken rear strut. The tech told me that they had recently seen several LS 460's with the same problem. The broken strut causes handling problems and I am reluctant to drive at highway speeds.
The dealer (and all the other dealers I called) said that there are no parts available for the repair and one told me that the last strut had to be brought from Japan.

Now wanna know what are my options can I change just the one rear side which is leaking and do I have to put the oem or can I put anything aftermarket.

I have developed a rattle in the right rear which appears to be coming from the rear strut. It is more pronounced at lower speeds, especially over potholes, and disappears completely at highway speed.
I'm thinking it may be a loose strut nut or housing assembly and want to inspect the strut. Is there a simple way to remove the back seat to allow access to the rear struts? 2007 ES350 ....

I have a 2009 RX350 with 51,000 miles (just 1000 over warranty). The left rear strut developed a bad leak and has begun making the noises associated with the failed strut. I will be changing out both rears and have two questions that I cannot find info for on the web.
1) I noticed the 2 latches on the side covers inside the back area to remove the panel and expose the rear strut tower, are these the only two latches I need to remove to access the upper bolts, or are there hidden screws or things I need to do to remove the panel?
2) What are the torque specs for the rear strut bolts?

The driver side door opens, but no matter what I do, the trunk won't open. I've tried pressing the fob a few times, and nothing happens.

What is the weight limit for the Prius to avoid so the back end doesn't sag too low while driving? I would like to place 2 big suitcases and 2 small carry ons in the truck. Is this too heavy meaning will the backend look too low while driving? Weight on all 4 (150lb approx) plus 4 people (350) is what worries me.

When you press your remote, trunk will stay closed and won't open. Must use the lever under the seat for opening it. What can cause this issue.
Battery is new. Also there is some another issue, didn't look it yet, one of the plate lamp is not working while trunk is closed. When you lift up your trunk it will begin work, when you close - no work.I assume there is some wire connection problem, but how it might affect the opening a trunk?

I just noticed a burnt smell in the trunk of my 2013 Elantra Limited with 4,000 miles. You can't smell it inside the car. Called the dealer and was told, "Oh, don't worry, that's the burn-in smell", it will go away in a few weeks".

I have a 2013 Hyundai Elenatra 7 months old. the trunk opens by itself very often. I asked at the service department at the dealership and they say never heard of this problem. Also I came out yesterday the battery was dead even thought nothing was left on. I fell there must be some electrical or switching problem with this car.
