I noticed yesterday that when I push the power tailgate button on the dash to open it, it made a single beep and didn't open. I could only get it to open the tailgate after I unlocked the doors. I also noticed that the key fob wouldn't open the tailgate from outside the vehicle while the doors were locked. I never noticed this before. Is this normal?

It has a button on the key that automatically opens the trunk, a button on the left of the drivers side that automatically opens the trunk and the button on the trunk that automatically closes it (so you don't manually close it). But after I bought it, I noticed that when I push the button on the underside of the trunk it does NOT automatically open.

My Power Tailgate opens automatically using the remote or the button next to steering wheel but no longer closes using the remote or that button. It only gives 2 beeps!
Tried toggling the button in the glove box but nothing.
When I push the button or use the fob to open the trunk, it opens but the trunk lid does not pop up. I have to pull it up manually. Is there some trick I'm missing? I skimmed the manual but didn't find anything.
I found my answer. Apparently they don't pop open on the older models, which is ridiculous. They started putting that option on cars years ago! Unbelievable.
Maybe I am paranoid, but recently I pushed power close button on the lift gate and a family member then also pushed the lift gate shut. Is it possible that the lift gate is broken now? It seems to work fine, but if I listen carefully I can hear some what seems to be grinding noises at the very top. Do the other RX power tailgates make a consistent sound throughout the open and close process.

View 12 RepliesI just recently purchased a 2011 RX 350 AWD SFP w/ ebony interior for the wife. She loves the car and it drives like a dream.
However lately there's been a weird single beep that occurs every 15 minutes or so. I've tried replacing the key fob battery, making sure no interior/exterior lights are on, and making sure all doors/sunroof are closed. I tried locking the door to see if it works as well but no dice. It doesn't affect anything in anyway as everything is operating as it should.
Power hatch stop working? I get a long beep and nothing. Won't open or close, it has to be done manually. My next oil change is in 1-2 months so I was going to have it looked at then by Lexus under warranty. Nothing seems stuck in the latch.
View 8 RepliesI am very puzzled with my new 2015 Lexus RX 350 , I parked my car at the gas station and suddenly noticed that I dont have my key on me and couldnt find it inside the car anywhere. I thought I dropped it somewhere outside but to my surprise when I tried starting my car it started fine assuming the key was some where close by.
I tried stepping out and to lock the car and got a message the key is inside the vehicle so car wont lock. I was able to start the car and drive it home about an hour drive car never complained about key not detected message. I called the dealership and they told me car will keep running if you drop the key outside while the car is running but after 15 mins of driving it will give a message key not detected.
I am locking the car now using the second remote but its risky to have the car in such a condition as any one can drive it away if they open the lock somehow. I have looked every where under the seat, in between the centre console and seat, under the seats key no where to be found. Could it be possible that key was dropped outside and the car is malfunctioning that its allowing me to start it and drive it without complaining.
If you open your door just before you turn off the car, it dings until you shut the door. Why?
It doesn't make sense. Its in Park, the steering wheel moves forward, yet it beeps continuously if the door is open before you hit off like you left lights on or something.
I just got a 2011 LX 570. The power rear door/tailgate opens just fine when pressing the button inside the car, or on the key fob. And closing it works fine as well from there as well as from the button on the door. However, when I press the larger "unlock" button on the tailgate itself, it does not open by itself. I have to manually open it.
I've read in a couple of places that this is a setting that the dealer must changed...IE to make that large unlock button also open the tailgate by itself instead of having to manually open it.
I'll sometimes transport item that are long and I need them to stick out of the glass hatch. Unfortunately then the warning light comes on and continually buzzes. Is there any way to turn this off?
View 3 Repliesunlike a lot of my fellow prii folks, i love the beeps. My favorite one is the confirmation of locking the doors by touch of handle and also unlocking by touch. Believe it or not i even like the backup beep which is kind of like a nice confirmation of "yo, dude! we are going backwards" but the most important one for me is the long single loud beep. happened the other day when i got out of my car to get a coke and the car emitted a continuous loud shrill beep as i started to walk away. I was still in drive.
View 3 RepliesAbout 3 weeks ago our Gen III (Prius III with Nav and Solar) began generating a single standard duration (maybe 1 second, similar duration to reverse beep) beep each time the driver's door is opened. It only occurs with the driver's door and happens whether the car is locked, unlocked, started or not. We had our reverse beep-beep converted to a single beep about 2 months ago and now this single beep is annoying each time we open the driver's door whether we are inside our outside of the car. We could not find anything in the user manual that described why this beep would continue occurring.

View 2 RepliesI want to know which method is the more appropriate and safer option to start the engine with a push button. There are two ways:
Method 1) You get in the car, press the brake, push the button to START
Method 2) You get in the car, push the button till all the lights come on, wait for a few seconds, press the brake, and push the button to START
Which one is more recommended? Does either option have any affect on the mechanism and life of the Push Button function?
Just got the new 2013 elantra 4 door sedan limited w tech package a couple of days ago...
I have the push button start and it works well.. no problems there.. but I noticed there is a small light on the button and it never turns on.. even at night. The font itself which reads "Start/Stop the engine" does glow blue at night or when the lights are turned on..
I have a 2006 Lexus GS 300 and about two weeks ago the key fob stopped working. I replaced two new batteries and nothing. I read up and found that if you place the fob over the start button and wait for the green light it would start. I have been starting the car like that ever since. Now here is the issue. Yesterday I went out to eat and when I was about to leave it would not start with the key over the button. I did not get a green light, nothing. after trying for about 10 minutes I got it to turn on the electrical system (basically it acted like it started but didn't) all the lights turned on and I saw the Check complete on the dash but the engine did not crank or start at all. Finally I disconnected the battery for 5 minutes and connected it again and was able to get it to start and drive home, now back to the same problem.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2010 Prius Hybrid and lately, on an intermittent basis, I will press the brake pedal and push the start button and the dashboard lights up as normal but when I go to put it in gear nothing happens. The last time it happened the fan was running and I couldn't turn it off. It's like the car is all set to go but all the interior controls don't function. I then shut it off and restart it and everything works.
