With the temps at a all time low in the U.S. this week, my TPMS warning light has come on in my 2012 RX350. It will stay very cold for most of the week, so is it ok to drive with my warning light on.
I don't want to check my psi in the tires with a tire gauge because I was told a valve stem can freeze open in extreme cold letting the tire to go completely flat.

winter has been tough here in the north with -30 Celsius (-22 F) every other week. when it's that cold there's squeaking noise from the dashboard / windshield area. mainly from the intersection of both.
Once the car is out of the garage it's ok for a few minutes then noise starts. this only happens if the weather is colder than -10 C (14 F) (i can't blame the car as my bones squeak when it's colder than-10 ) This is definitely an expansion/contraction issue.
The dealer indicated that they will have to remove the dashboard to fix the problem and recommended that I wait towards the end of the warranty, observe other issues and fix all at once as multiple removal of the dashboard may bring new problems (i.e. snapped pieces may get loose).
My 2010 Lexus RX350 doesn't perform the complementary dinging warning when the lights are left on. Every car I've ever had, and even the Lexus loaners I get, dinging if I leave the lights on. This car? No.
The dealer is saying this is "by design" because it has auto off lights. That doesn't make sense, since the loaners all ding when I leave the lights on (yes, I checked).
What do I tell them to turn on to make this work the way "all other" vehicles work? I found something called "Light Remind" in "C Best Settings"
Warning LIGHT REMIND ON/OFF of headlight reminder buzzer ON/OFF ... Is this applicable to the 3rd Gen 2010 Lexus RX350? Also, is there some way I can do it myself?
This is in reference to having a warning when lights are in the "On" position. In the "Auto" position, it would seem reasonable that there is no warning. But in the "On" position, it seems reasonable to have the alert.
I had a garage connect a computer to my 2013 rx350. It reported AC problem. It does not say what is wrong with it. What that actually checks on the AC ? I don't get cold air so I bought an AC kit to try and recharge it.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2012 RX350 with about 25k miles. Remote FOB will not start the car. Strange problem that I cannot find anywhere. The batteries were replaced in both FOBs because they were showing 2.6v. Still will not start.
Pressing LOCK, LOCK, HOLD LOCK you can hear the click of the doors locking but the flashers do not flash. After holding lock for the 3 seconds the flashers will flash 4 times, then nothing. All other functions of the fob work correctly.
I was thinking about removing the car battery for awhile (kind or a reboot, maybe) before bringing to dealer (110 miles away).
When a friend recently let me drive a 2013 Nissan Altima, I was blown away by how much quieter it is then the RX I was shocked to read all the hundreds of posts here about wind noise issues with LX models, and fascinated by the letters to and from Lexus by Lexus owners about the problem

View 4 RepliesSo I was running stock Lexus 17' rims on my 2008 c350 RWD. The time came to replace the tires and I thought- instead of shelling out hundreds of dollars, why not use my brother's set for free (his stock 17' rims from his 2006 GS300 RWD were just lying in the garage taking up space). They were also 17's. So, I swapped all 4 out, stock rims included. Drove around for a bit and noticed the TPMS warning light came on.
Not the low pressure light, but the actual warning light. This happens every day. The car is fine driving the first 15-20 miles but after that, the light always eventually goes on..then it's magically reset when I start the car the next day.
TPMs warning light on. I was wondering is the reason the TPMs warning light is on because I don't currently have a spare tire in the trunk i have the tire i mean but no wheel. and the sensor is just sitting in my glove box until the new wheel comes in.
View 4 RepliesJust got a (second) 2012 RX350. 13,000 miles. The Distance to Empty is confusing me. Doesn't come close to matching the tank size times either the mpg since last fill-up, or the overall average mpg. Overall mpg is 17.x. mpg since last fill-up varies from 17-21. But when I fill the tank, the DTE says maybe 260. With a 20gal tank the DTE after a fill-up should be in the 340-350 range.
This isn't happening on our other 2012 RX350 with about the same number of miles.
The needle gas gauge appears to be right, based on where the needle is before a fill-up and the number of gallons purchased.
TPMS warning light is sometimes on, sometimes flashes, sometimes off. Only 2800 miles. Checked your pressures @ 38 psi. Have had no tire issues, nails. Etc. Took to dealer today. Service advisor said too much air in tires. Lowered to 35 psi. I have doubts about their"fix". Time will tell.
View 17 RepliesI just purchased a 2010 RX 350, has only 7k miles on it. Really, really nice car. I noticed for the first time yesterday the engine ticking/knocking/rattling/whatever you want to call it sound when starting up on a cold start. It definitely goes away after about 5-10 minutes of running.
Most people seem to accept this as "normal". They hear it, live with it, and they never have any problems. I am a new Lexus owner, so I have trouble digesting that such a luxury vehicle with so few miles would have a "normal" engine knocking sound at 7,000 miles.
A few people posted in other places that this is indeed an issue, and should not be happening. There is a a Toyota (Lexus) service bulletin that I didn't get the details on, it is LSB-0028-09. LEXUS: ENGINE TICKING NOISE AND/OR MIL ON P0014, P0015, P0024, P0025, P0017, OR P0018. ENGINE MECHANICAL. *PE
Looking for details on this service bulletin, and if it does indeed apply to the engine knocking sound.

I seem to be getting (the last few weeks) a random audio announcement from my 2014 RS450h - "Severe Weather nearby" when there is no weather nearby (just sun/clouds).
I checked the XM weather feature as well.. although that feature (graphics) seem pretty useless.
Driving in heavy rain on the interstate, my park assist warning started signaling. I assumed it was the heavy rain affecting the sensors. However, later on local roads, I kept getting intermittent warnings, with only light rain coming down. It seemed to happen most during deceleration, when water would slide down the hood toward the front bumper. I'm guessing it has something to do with the sensors on the front bumper, possibly getting water in them.
View 6 RepliesThursday driving home from work, the thing started dinging and all sorts of lights started flashing at me. I looked in the manual and (finally) found that it is the TPMS. The orange light on the left side blinks for 1 minute and then stays on steady. I also see "Check System" in the display under the speedometer and there is a red light with an explanation point (!) on the right side. Checked all tire pressure. All were at 30 PSI. Checked spare, it was good. Manual says if it blinks and stays steady, contact your dealer. Called...they can't look at it until Feb. 12. I drive 40 miles a day on average. Not a lot, but by 2/12 that is several hundred miles. what could be wrong and if i should still be driving this car?
View 14 Replies2008 RX350 with 52k mile .... It's getting cold even in Atlanta. So I thought the warning light was perfectly normal..
Checked the tire pressure and was around 31psi, so pumped to 35 ish after running 10 min or so thinking it should be good enough. After driving back home, the lights are still on.
I double checked tire pressures and they are between 35 and 35.5 psi still. So I reset the warning light, and it the light won't go away. I think the owner's manual said, if it blinks for one min and stays on, then there's a problem in the sensor.
When I start, it blinks once, then stays on.
If I reset it, it blinks three times and stays on.
What I should do next? I did replace tires about a year ago at the local tire shop, but I don't think it was their fault, as I think the warning light worked fine last winter.
What is this metal on metal noise...you hear it the best around the 7-12 second mark...it is especially loud on cold start in the morning when you put the car in "drive" but don't move the car forward. It also is prevalent on hot days when you park the car outside and just start the car. The sound gets louder when you turn on the a/c during the hot day.

Our late '04 touarg has been experiencing an intermittent tpms failure. Seems to occur only during sub-20 degree farenhiet whether and only when the 'egg is cold (i.e. parked outdoors or in an unheated garage) and generally occurrs shortly after starting/driving the car. Message we receive states that the system has failed (not flat tire/defective wheel/etc). The fault will then clear itself after around 10 minutes. Any solutions?
View 16 RepliesMy wife has a 2010 RX-350 which had to have the transmission replaced a few weeks ago. She has run into an issue when it's cold that the car seems to be stuck in neutral as she applies the gas and it just creeps. This most recent time, the "Check Engine" light came on the message "Check AWD" on the dash. Lexus says they can't find anything wrong except slightly low Transmission Fluid.
View 4 RepliesI'm not sure this is by design but the buttons for sunroof and garage door are not illuminating at night. I would like to know if your vehicles have the same behavior. I try to look for any info in the manual but can't find anything. I thought there would be a switch somewhere that turns this on and off but I can't find it anywhere either. My brother-in-law has a 2012 Toyota Sienna van and these buttons do light up at night while my 2012 RX350 does not. I find it interesting for a luxury vehicle.
