I just recently replaced the cabin filter on my 2012 rx350 and now the A/C doesn't work. I checked under the hood and the compressor doesn't kick in. What caused it? Or should I take it to the dealership to have it checked out? It only has about 20,000 miles too..

And the reason for my post: Had a smell coming through the vents that just smells like rotten leaves. Changed the cabin air filter. Smell still there.
Where does the cabin air filter air intake go? I want to make sure there are no obstructions or smell inducing things living in this intake.
I guess my question is..Where does the air come in to the cabin from and where best can I make sure its unobstructed?
How to replace the Cabin Air Filter in 2010 RX350? I read in here that you need to switch to the ReCirc mode but then how to remove the shelves in the glove compartment? I almost broke it another the day but still can't take it apart.
View 14 RepliesI am having a problem in changing the cabin air filter in a 2011 RX450h. I can remove the shelve in the glove compartment, but can not remove the L shaped cover plate to the filter. What is the correct procedure to remove the cover plate without breaking it?

I recently replaced my cabin air filter in my '12 PiP. When I went to put the little door back on, the clip that holds the door into place on the left (not the "click" side), broke right off of the housing.
I have the piece, but not sure I can glue this back on with any success.
Do I have to take the whole dash apart to get the housing out to replace? It really is the smallest little plastic piece.
My a/c recently is not blowing the same amount of air thru the cabin. Thought it was the cabin air filter because I was recently in some really dusty conditions. The compressor under the hood (and both lines) run very cold, but cabin blows cold air just low volume compared to before my dusty trip. Am told the 2004 does not have a cabin air filter. If that is true how and where is the air filtered or input? Think something is restricting my air flow causing me problems.

View 18 RepliesAfter replacing the cabin air filter I heard a loud noise from the fan area in the car. I rechecked the installation which was ok. I then reached down into the fan assembly, and there was the problem, some leaves had fallen into the fan when I removed the old filter. Took out the leaves , and all is well.
I replaced the OEM filter with a Fram Fresh Breeze filter which interesting enough only had half as many folds. I figure a big company like Fram must know what they are doing?

View 3 RepliesI'm attempting to change the A/C cabin filter on my 2013 LS. I've followed the instructions explicitly including setting the A/C function to recirculate mode.
However, when I get to removing the filter case I press on the 2 tabs as indicated in the instructions and try as I might the case doesn't move.
Am I missing something? Is there a specific knack to this?
Looking for info on how to replace the cabin air filter in my 2013 es300h !

View 8 RepliesI used to replace my LS430 cabin air filter myself. Now I have a 2012 LS460, and they have made the hatch door in the glove box motorized. I know to open the hatch, it has something to do with depressing the Fan button on the dash. But I don't know exactly what to press, if car should be running, or ignition simply On but not running, etc. What is the exact procedure that opens the little hatch in the glove box so I can replace the filter ? (And my primary reason for wanting to bring it to dealer is simply that it took me 5 minutes to do it on my LS430, vs MUCH longer to go to my dealer.)
View 10 RepliesThe past few days ive had the switch in the on position but when I exit the car and come back hours later after it's been in full sun the fan isn't on and the cabin isn't lower in temp. Occasionally when I shut off the car I hear a short beep and I assume that means the system is active and later I find it is, but that is with the moon roof open. Is it normal for the fan to not turn on unless the roof is open?
View 3 RepliesAfter the car shut down and had to be towed to the dealer,the inverter was replaced (fortunately we were just under the 80k mile hybrid warranty). The problem now is that the headlights and parking lights are not working. We took the car back to the dealer who said it was no doubt burnt out headlight bulbs. I told them that the parking lights were also not working and they insisted it is the headlight bulbs.
View 3 RepliesWhen starting the RX, I smell something I would describe as "burning insulation". It happens only first 10-20 seconds after the air comes out from the vents, and then the smell disappears. The smell is stronger after prolonged parking. It is the strongest in the morning and less noticeable after I start the RX 2-3 more times ( I usually make 6-8 short trips during the day). The smell was very strong when I started the RX first time after it was parked for one week (while we went on vacation).
There are no warning lights, and the vehicle runs just fine. I pulled out the carbon cabin filter (changed about 3 mo ago) - it did not smell and was very clean still. I am hesitant to go to the dealer-afraid they will rip apart the dash, which they probably will not be able to put back together without having rattles and noises after.
The smell comes from the inside - there is no smell under the hood after I start the RX.
I have a 2014 RX 350. I have noticed an intermittent issue with exhaust smells coming into the cabin when the car is on recirculate and I am at highway speed. It happens when I am first accelerating after I've entered the freeway. If I get the odor, I can make it go away by briefly hitting the recirc/fresh button to bring in fresh air for a few moments. This doesn't happen driving around town.

View 11 RepliesWhere exactly the cabin air filter is located and how to replace it? I bought a filter, It came with an instruction sheet that says the filter is in the passenger side foot well. I pulled off the cover under the dash and the cover on the side of the dash, no filter.
The top of the inside of the glove compartment has an allen wrench on the top of the compartment, (what is that for?) It looks like there are some phillip screws on the top inside of the glove compartment, but I thought I'd seek advice before I tore the entire car apart!
So, I just dropped a bit more money that I wanted to for an oil change at a drive-through place. The tech offered to replace my dirt cabin air filter. I figured that I could do it myself for much less (or even just tap the dirt out of my current one). How to access the filter, and how easy or difficult the process is?
