I dropped off my 2015 RX450h at the dealership yesterday because the rain sensing wipers no longer sensed rain. Late in the afternoon the service writer called and told me that they ordered a new windshield because the sensor is part of the windshield?
Sounds strange. I've heard that some aftermarket windshields were interfering with sensor's ability to sense but never an OEM windshield.
Ever since I have mounted my EZ-Pass transponder my rain-sensing wipers do not work properly. The transponder is attached to the windshield with two double-sticky pieces of velcro behind the rearview mirror. Basically the wipers now only work on the lowest setting. On medium and high they constantly run even with clean dry windshield.
Is there a known good way to mount the transponder so it doesn't affect the rain sensor?
Do the dealership can turn off the rain sensing wipers and put them back to a regular intermittent wiper?
View 1 RepliesHaving problem adjusting the rain sensing wipers? They're either going too fast or they won't stop when the windshield is dry and not getting wet. I hate these rain sensing wipers. My Audi A4 has several adjustments in the intermittent mode and it works great. Why VW couldn't stick with that I'll never know.
View 16 RepliesMy '09 Platinum has rain-sensing wipers, and I do not like them at all. They are always going to high-speed when it's not raining that hard or they don't do anything at all when there's a mist that needs cleaned off.
The wiper stick has HIGH, LOW, and various INTERMITTENT settings. Any of the INTERMITTENT settings are AUTO for me. I'm constantly messing with it to get the wipers to act correctly. I just want to turn them off. How can it be done?
My dealer says the windshield on my 2012 RX 350, which has < 8k miles, has to be replaced in order to fix the auto rain sensing function. Even though it is covered under warranty I'm confused and not happy with this. What is in the windshield that causes the problem? Could it just be the control sensor behind the rear view mirror, which they detached in their troubleshooting?

So here are my constraints:
1. My Emergency Flashers are not working, however the pointers work. (I have checked the fuses and they are fine)
2. My voice recognition seems not to like my accent, when I say "setup" it plays satellite radio (is there a way to play around with the setting for voice recognition ?)
3. When I am on rough roads, I get a lot of feedback on the steering wheel, what should I be worried about here?
4. My Wipers are supposed to be rain sensitive but they don't seem to work. Is there a setting I am missing?
5. My Steering Wheel doesn't go up and down, it only goes front and back. Rather than go up and down, it jerks slightly to the left or right, depending on where. What could be wrong?
So over the past week of driving my new 2011 RX350 I have had the auto wipers set to on so when/if it rains they automatically come on. However at random times when there is no rain the wipers come alive an make a sweep across the windshield.

Just wondering if there is any difference between the RX350 and RX450h wheels. Given that the RX450h is a hybrid, the wheels should be lighter for better fuel performance.

View 2 RepliesI just bought a ceritifed pre-owned 2010 RX 450h. I love it, but a couple of questions as I get to know the car.
1) The rain sensor seems to not work. I set the wipers to what on another car would be "intermittent" but the wipers never come on. Am I missing something, am I a dummy? Or should I just get the dealer to replace the sensor?
2) Any way to turn off the seatbelt warning chime?
It almost sounds like somebody is taking a small hammer and banging at the plastic cover on top the engine when the vehicle is started new from cold. After about 8 or 9 knocks it goes away.
Taking it to a dealer soon to get it checked.

I just bought a certified 2011 RX 450h and my sirius keeps going back and forth to no signal for no reason. I've had sirius for 9 years in other cars and it's never had this bad of reception. It's at the dealer now but the loaner 2013 RX350 they gave me does the same thing. None of my other cars perform this way on these same roads. Had this poor reception problem, what has been done to remedy?

View 2 RepliesI test drove a 2013 RX450h this morning and almost decided to purchase it. The one problem I experienced was a dark area, about 1/3 of the nav screen on the driver's side with my sunglasses on. Taking the glasses off eliminated the problem. I tried a different pair of sunglasses and was able to duplicate the dark area. I am assuming this problem is caused by polarized lenses. I do not have the problem with my 2010 LS nor the 2013 GS350 I also tested.
View 14 RepliesI noticed recently that my car has been running a little sluggish lately and can't figure out why. What I mean by sluggish is that when I press the gas the car is relatively slow to get up to speed. Getting onto the freeway for example, or just trying to take off "quickly" (it's a Hybrid so not trying to race anyone) just not noticing the car doesn't seem to get up to speed as quickly as before.
This is with ECO mode on or off, just more noticeable with it on. Just got the oil changed this morning, still noticing it.
The car has only about 35K on it so really puzzled as to what might be causing this problem.
My less than 7000 miles RX started making noise when I pushed the brake pedal. Evidently it sounded like the "LS brake squawk" according to service foreman. Not sure if the actuator is same in all RXs.
View 3 RepliesGot my IS 350 F Sport on 6/30 and I love it... but I found my first fault in the car... and I hope it can be fixed or I am wrong... The wipers just aren't that fast.... and their are very few speeds...
The FAST wipers setting (all the way down, clicking twice) doesn't hold up well against heavy ran...this setting is like Medium-High on my old 2013 Infiniti... But the Infiniti almost had a "VERY HIGH" setting and it was great for down pours... this "high" on the lexus just isn't that good... and quiet frankly IS NOT SAFE.
Also, pushing it down once for the intermediate setting where you can twist for 3 different speeds just isn't enough as well...

I brought our 2010 Rx450h to the dealership several months ago due to an occasional clicking noise in the upper steering column, behind the steering wheel area. The repetitive clicking was most noticeable at slower speeds while turning the steering wheel.
The dealership had the car for about 3 days saying it was a loose cable and then told me when I picked up the car, that sound was the way it was supposed to be, part of the electric assist steering. So the clicking noise continued.
Now the steering is getting stiffer. Some days much stiffer. This happens more when turning the wheel slowly.
