Lexus RX 2010-15 :: Methods To Keep The Radio And Accessories On When Park?
Aug 5, 2014
I know I can shift to neutral then push power button then shift to park. Any other methods to keep the radio and accessories on?

View 4 RepliesYou arrive at your destination and you are in the middle of listening to a hot news item or a song on the radio. It may be a while before this may finish and so you want to SHUT OFF the engine only and stop idling, but don't want to shut the rest of the electronics off.
So, yes you can do this by turning the engine off and then pressing the start button without placing the foot on the brake paddle. But by then you have lost so much important information streaming down from the radio (as it shuts off when you stop the engine).
So I was wondering if there is a way to go from ENGINE ON mode to just ACCESSORIES only mode without 1st stopping engine, then pressing start button.
I understand the methods for rotating tires but I'm about to deviate from the norm and only switch two of my tires with one another. Just bought an 08' gx and using my tire tread gauge all tires are wearing evenly across their tread. My front tires are at 7/32(+) and 6/32(+), my rear tires are at 7/32 and 7/32(-).
I'm planning to only rotate my 6/32(+) front tire with my 7/32(-) tire and check again in a few thousand miles. Is rotating based on tread depth smart or is there a reason that the standard rotational patterns are all I can find on google? (+) and (-) indicate slight variations off of a reading, the gauge is not accurate beyond 32nds of an inch.
It seems the LS460 cannot go DIRECTLY from "the engine is running with the infotainment system on" to "the engine is turned off, but the infotainment system remains on".
It seems as soon as you turn off the engine, the infotainment system cuts off immediately, dropping any bluetooth calls, music, or anything else.
You must press the Start button once more to get the accessories to come back (after a delay... since the wheel and seats have to retract once again... seems wasteful to me).
The only workaround I found, is to put the transmission into Neutral, then cut the engine... then put the transmission into Park.
This method will leave the accessories ON after the engine is cut, BUT it will not apply the automatic parking brake (if you use the feature).
It seems like a sludgy workaround... since I ALWAYS leave the parking brake in automatic mode, so I'd like it to engage every time the car is parked... which doesn't seem possible if I use this workaround.
A couple times in the last month or two, my park assist comes on for apparently no reason. I am stopped at a light, with no one in front of me, and it starts beeping rapidly as if someone were almost touching the front of the car. Last night I noticed it again, this time it was snowing somewhat.
View 8 RepliesI have a 2010 RX350 with IPA (Back up sensors) and I've recently come across a problem. There is no light on the dash indicating that the system is active. And when I go to the setup menu to want to scroll and activate to the option of enabling or disabling the system, the option is just not there. The only option is to activate snow mode.. What has happened? Where I should start troubleshooting?
View 2 RepliesI have a friend that has a 2013 RX350 and only has the XM radio available but not purchased. He can't even switch to FM / AM radio.
View 2 RepliesSuddenly my 2010 RX350 no longer beeps when I get close to an obstacle. When going into the Park Assist control there are no longer any sensor symbols around the corners of the car. What is going on?
View 3 RepliesDriving in heavy rain on the interstate, my park assist warning started signaling. I assumed it was the heavy rain affecting the sensors. However, later on local roads, I kept getting intermittent warnings, with only light rain coming down. It seemed to happen most during deceleration, when water would slide down the hood toward the front bumper. I'm guessing it has something to do with the sensors on the front bumper, possibly getting water in them.
View 6 RepliesWas in chic fila line and all i heard was beepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeep and i was thinking...theres a pencil holder..a umbrella holder...but no way to mute it temporarily?!?!
View 9 RepliesI noticed it in my 2014 RX last weekend. I've only had it for a month!
View 1 RepliesHow do I turn the car off and listen to the radio. I have a push button start.
View 12 RepliesI can't seem to keep the radio on the screen as a default it stays on Nav all the time. Its a rx350 2010
View 2 RepliesI listen to AM radio for traffic reports and local news. It constantly fades between HD and normal, and that is very annoying.
If I turn off HD, it automatically returns to HD if I listen to a text message, take a phone call, or change the radio station.
Is there anyway to turn off HD and keep it off, even if it is for short trips?
Is there a dedicated button to quickly enable/disable this feature? 2014 model.
View 4 RepliesDoes the 2015 GX 460 beeps when you're really near an object? Mine only alerts me when there is a moving object. I checked the lexus park assist and it's on but no alert. It doesn't alert when I'm reversing or when I'm driving forward when I'm parallel parking.
View 5 RepliesNow that we've had negative temps, in the morning on these extreme cold startups, there is a spinning sound coming from the radio / cd that goes for about a minute then doesn't come back. (No cd inside.)
(I'd like to know something before I go into dealer). And no, it's not a subtle sound. Sounds like a cd is trying to eject. And yes, I'm positive it's coming from the radio.
First time Lexus and RX350 owner. Not familiar with the new type of shift gear. When I shifted the gear from Park to Reverse straight down instead of moving to the right first, the vehicle would jerk and make a thud sound. Not sure if this would have damaged anything. After I have get used to moving the gear to the right first before shifting down, I would still sometimes have this jerk/thud. But if I do the whole shift movement (shift the right first) real quick then the chance of getting the jerk/thud is much less. Is it a manufacture defect or just I am not doing it properly?
View 5 RepliesI recently leased a new 13RX350. Something I find really annoying is switching the radio between FM/AM/XM. When I press "mode" on the steering wheel to change from one frequency to the next, the pre-set stations do not follow. What is I mean is if i am listening to XM Radio, and then I press "mode" to switch to FM and want to press the up/down to change the channel, I still get the XM Radio channel. The pre-set list does not change to FM and its such a hassle having to use the control console and scroll up 6 lists of pre-sets to get to FM. I'm wondering why Lexus did not make this more intuitive?
View 6 RepliesHaving issue with XM Radio reception? My 2013 RX 350 loses signal with even minor obstructions. This is my second RX with satellite radio and 5th car and this model is terrible. I have driven behind friends with 2015 and 2010 models comparing when signals are lost and mine is significantly worse.
View 6 RepliesI just purchased a 2001 Park Ave Base. The DIC, A/C and Radio lights will randomly dim so low that they cant be seen during the day and I have no cluster lights at all. I have checked the fuses and ensured that the dimmer is all the way up (just before clicking on the interior lights which do come on) and have found nothing.
