My car: RX 350 - 2010
I never really pay attention on this ECO thing until someone drove my car and this ECO green light is disappeared and also I tried to check with the toggle button and it saw the ECO mode is OFF but I cannot figure out how to turn it back on?
You arrive at your destination and you are in the middle of listening to a hot news item or a song on the radio. It may be a while before this may finish and so you want to SHUT OFF the engine only and stop idling, but don't want to shut the rest of the electronics off.
So, yes you can do this by turning the engine off and then pressing the start button without placing the foot on the brake paddle. But by then you have lost so much important information streaming down from the radio (as it shuts off when you stop the engine).
So I was wondering if there is a way to go from ENGINE ON mode to just ACCESSORIES only mode without 1st stopping engine, then pressing start button.
I have clearly noticed that in PWR mode, apart from the obvious change in gas pedal response, the ICE tends not to shut down and burn fuel when releasing completely the gas pedal, especially - but no exclusively - at higher speeds (e.g. >90km/h).
In normal or ECO mode the ICE will turn off (though still turning, I know, if at "high speeds") and fuel consumption will show 0L/100km.
With PWR the engine spins and you see a fuel consumption not equal to 0.
My theory is that the engine management will be a bit more aggressive and tend to keep the ICE spinning with gas to make sure that when the gas pedal is pressed the reaction is immediate and there is no lag due to the MG1 spinning it first to turn it on. Moreover, the battery is charged more than just letting the wheels spin, but less than braking, in this way, since the engine can actively drive MG1 to generate energy for the battery (not very efficient, but after all this is PWR mode... ).
This would justify,BTW, in a more scientific way the statement on the User's Manual that says that PWR mode will tend to increase fuel consumption.
So I have heard that, it is only good to turn on the ECO mode when you are driving in the city or town. When you drive onto highway, you should turn ECO off. Any good explanation of what is the best method of using the ECO button?

What exactly does this mean? (ie. poor performance, not full pwer?)

Just bought a GX 460 and the radio is acting like it's possessed. The mode selection keeps cycling through from AM to FM1 to FM2 then says no disk found. It's like it has a mind of its own or someone is pushing the "mode" button continuously. It will not stop. The other functions like nav, climate, ect still work and the touch screen still work I just can't get the radio to stop changing sources.

After long search found the button which switched ECO mode off in multi information display BUT the green ECO word still kept displaying on Hybrid system Indicator. So now I am confused, do I still have ECO mode on or not? And how can i get that green ECO message of my hybrid meter?
View 3 RepliesOn a 2011 RX450h, is it possible to disable the door chime when the drivers door is opened but the car is in accessory mode (i.e. not running)?
Since I just got the RX I've been playing a lot with the settings and audio presets. With the drivers door open the chime just continues forever and I cannot find any option to turn off the chime when in accessory mode.
I know the RX350 isn't a real SUV designed to go off-road, but after the recent blizzard on the East Coast I am really disappointed by the AWD in this car. My driveway is plowed by a truck so it is very clean, but the city plow leaves maybe a small 5 inch high pile that about 1 feet across after it goes by. My RX350 couldn't through that the front wheels just kept spinning. I tried snow mode and even push the 4 Lock which I think does nothing. The back wheel didn't even spin once it seemed like I was driving a FWD car.
Our older RX330 a 2004 model got stuck also, but when we jabbed the gas after a few seconds the car made this weird screeching sound and you could see the back wheels spin as it climbed the driveway no problem albeit slowly. Its a bit disappointing to see an older RX has better AWD then the newer models. I mean the back wheels didn't even spin on my 2010 the front wheels just spun. I tried turn traction control off, 4 lock, and snow mode no luck. Also when going up the 2010 kept sliding sideways on my 04 the steering felt washy, but at least it was sliding off the driveway.
I also had A6 before this and it has never gotten stuck and its a lower car so its not like a drive my car through snow bank. We ended driving the older RX everywhere this weekend as the 2010 is not very assuring when it snows.
I just bought a 2013 model RX350 about two weeks ago.
I am wondering why does my car default to 4th gear even at a stop when put into Selectable Gear Mode; I would think it should be in '1'. Is this a faulty vehicle requiring some fix?
In other brand vehicles I have driven, shifting into S-mode at standstill puts it in '1'. At highway speeds, it would be '6' and at intermediate speeds it will be some number in between. I can then upshift and downshift from that number as I would change gears in a manual drive car.
Is that kind of "manual simulated" driving feasible or advisable in the RX350 with the default 4th gear behavior? I have not dared to try starting from the '4th gear' for fear of ruining anything.
When I go through a tunnel or under a bridge with my headlights on the Auto setting the lights will turn on, but wont turn themselves back off when it is no longer dark.
View 6 RepliesI have a concern about my 2010 Prius V(five). I've noticed some issues lately that may all tie in to one big problem.
1. My ev mode will not work at all. My battery will be fully charged and not in "B" mode. Turning car off and on will not work.
2. Engine will not turn off when coming to stops. Mind you when the battery is above 3 lines.
3. Throttle response feels like it's in PWR mode(super sensitive) but the engine is leggy. If I floor it for a sec the RPMS are super slow to come down.
4. The Eco line is quick to go in PWR portion and I'm not pushing it any harder than I was before all of this started. It seems like when I push the gas it skips the electric and automatically pulls from the engine.
How do I turn the car off and listen to the radio. I have a push button start.

View 14 RepliesI listen to AM radio for traffic reports and local news. It constantly fades between HD and normal, and that is very annoying.
If I turn off HD, it automatically returns to HD if I listen to a text message, take a phone call, or change the radio station.
Is there anyway to turn off HD and keep it off, even if it is for short trips?
I've recently started a job with a long commute and I've started listening to audiobooks on CD. What is the best way to pause the recording when you turn off the car? If I take the CD out, it loses my place in the book. I'm not sure if it's safe to just shut the car off and leave the CD inside the player. Or if I should pause it and turn it off?

(The wire must be connected to a point that is at ground voltage when the turn signal is ON. You must find a point that is ground when the turn signals are on to make the unit work.)
Sometimes when carrying long lumber it is just necessary to leave the rear window open. But the warning beep is obnoxious. Is there a way to disable this?

How to do this to the 2015 RX 350? Please note that the 2014 hack does not work on the 2015 model year.
