I'm trying to remove the middle console vent cover to install a kuda mount. It says to pry a bit with plastic tools right to the right of the vent between the plastic and the leather/pleather. Getting nervous and don't want to crack the cover or damage anything.

Also, I need to pull the cover off the rear seat DVD player as I want to solder in some RCA's onto the aux in. Can't figure this one out either, and I'm afraid to break the cover.

I would like to tap the wires behind it to install my dash cam so then I don't need to run the wires all the way around the windscreen and stuff. I did this on the Rav4 which was pretty simple to remove, but I don't want to take any chances with the IS.

How do you remove the top steering column cover? This is the plastic piece immediately toward the front of the car from the steering wheel. It covers the steering column and is not part of the steering wheel. Part number is 45286-47040-C0 and the parts breakdown doesn't show any fasteners, it probably has some tabs that need to be released, but where?
View 2 RepliesMy 2012 Prius makes noise in cold days. After careful examination I found the noise comes from the rubbing between the joystick cover and the center console bridge cover. If I press the joystick cover with my fingers, the noise will be significantly reduced or even eliminated. So I think if I put a layer of soft material there, I may be able to eliminate the noise. How to remove the center console bridge cover? Either pictures or video will be great.

View 14 RepliesHave a super annoying rattle from the top vent on top of the dashboard in the middle. I can put my wifes handbag on it in order to stop it. Told the dealer about it the past 4 visits and get different answers every time but no fixes. Passed 15k miles and now they say rattle warranty is over so how hard is it to take the vent off so i can doctor some foam tape or something in there?

View 6 RepliesThe middle console that serve as a little box...very similar to the one in my 06 Sonata. In my Sonata it makes no squeaks of any sort.
Before I dump a gallon of wd-40 on this puppy, is there any remedy for this? It makes a little annoying squeak.
My first initial thought is to lightly lubricate the hinge that makes it go up and down.
There is a black mark in the middle console near the cd player. I don't recall how it got there, but if this is a scuff mark that I can rub off, or if it is the paint or something below and the silver area was rubbed off.

How do I actually remove the passenger side air vent cover? (nearest to the door) I tried to pry on it with a screwdriver but it doesn't seem like it wants to move. I actually asked the local dealer and they said I would have to remove the whole dash to access inside the vent. Do I really need to remove the whole dash or should I try to apply more pressure?

I need seating for six and like to swap a leather middle seat with fold down armrest for the console that I can't use. View 9 RepliesSo the story goes that one day my 2013 RX350 stop blowing heat from the air vent. I took my car in the dealer to have to take a look. First of all, it took them a WHOLE week to diagnosis the problem, second of all, a consultant told me that he FOUND a pen inside the heater box that caused the gear shaft to break, which is used to control the heater doors...
What is he talking about? More importantly, he's saying I "accidentally dropped a pen" from the passenger side compartment storage and it somehow caused the heater door broke?
The driver and passenger side were no problems at all, but the center vent is giving me trouble. I've seen the how-to, but can't get it to pop out. I don't really have a proper screwdriver, at home, to push up on the two clips on the top inside of the vent, but I used a hard plastic interior trim removal tool, while prying at the top with another. I have left the bottom controls in as I can't pull the left side buttons out enough to disconnect them while the vent is still in.
