What would cause my Lexi to squeal, in a high pitch fashion, while she is running. The rapidness does not change with acceleration/ deceleration. The brake pads are also squeaking- but the new squeal is with no brakes being applied. I had a mechanic suggest a total transmission rebuild- idk if I trust that.

I tried to slightly crack the passenger side window. The sound wasn't too loud, but just wanted to make sure it wasn't something major.
I have about 1000 miles on my 350 F Sport AWD, whining noise. When I am driving with any pressure on the gas epedal, I hear a high-pitched whine in the cabin. If I take pressure off the gas pedal, the sound stops. It comes back as soon as I touch the gas pedal. The sound seems to be coming from the rear of the car, and it happens whether the audio is on or off.
View 5 RepliesI have a weird issue, whenever I'm driving in pretty wet conditions (or drive through a puddle and make a "wall of water") I hear a high pitched squealing sound. Sounds like it is coming from the front right (passenger side) of the car when driving in wet conditions.
View 7 RepliesI just purchased a 99 Rodeo 4X4 with the 5-speed stick. It makes an intermittent high pitched squealing noise at highway speeds. This noise comes up through the floor right about where the center console glove box is. In fact, it really sounds like it is coming from the console glove box.

View 5 RepliesSo - I'm sitting at my VW dealership, hoping that their can figure out why I'm getting a high pitched, miserable squealing sound, every time I depress my brake pedal. It's metallic sounding, and with the history of brake issues I've had in owning other VW models, I just figured it was the brake pads they use. Sounds like their tech believes it is an issue with the tires??? I've got an 04 Phaeton with roughly 38K miles on it - and it's supposedly "certified"....
View 6 RepliesMy girlfriend's Elantra (mid 90s model, I think) makes an intermittent noise when on the highway. It sounds to me like it could either be from friction or some sort of wind noise, but I suspect it's the former. It only seems to happen at speeds above 50 or so. When it occurs, it is always the same pitch and loudness -- these don't seem to vary. It's rather loud, to the point where it is pretty unpleasant to drive when this is going on. It has happened both when my foot is on and off the gas pedal. When the noise happens, it can last anywhere from just a second to up to a minute or more. I haven't been able to identify anything obvious that it's correlated with -- wind direction, grade of road, etc. The only thing I do know is that it only seems to happen at highway speeds. We never hear it during city driving. So far one mechanic has confidently misdiagnosed the problem as a bad wheel bearing.

View 20 RepliesWhen it is cold (below 30 degrees) and above about 30mph, there is a loud high pitched squeal (rather like the pitch of a squealing hearing aide)that seems to come form the front drivers side. The colder it is, the louder it is.
When I am able to take it in it is too warm to hear it. What might be causing the noise and will they be able to figure it out if it isn't making the sound?
Need to determine the cause of a strange high-pitched squealing noise coming from the engine compartment of my 2008 Subaru Outback 2.5l automatic. The squeal happens only when the temperature is cold (below 32 degrees) AND I hit a bump. It happens more often the colder it is outside. The noise is definitely coming from the front of the car and seems like the passenger side but I can't be sure. It happens with the blower fan/AC both on and off so I don't think it is caused by that. It happens when the car is cold or driven for a while and warmed up.
It occurs at both high & low speeds. I checked all my fluids under the hood and everything is filled as it should be. There are no lights (check engine or ABS) on. Recommend any troubleshooting that I can try? I have not taken it to a mechanic yet as they might have a hard time reproducing the noise since it has to be below freezing and hit a decent bump. I attach a video that I took while driving last week on a 16 degree day and heard the squeal when I hit a bump. I had been driving for about 30 min when it occurred. I have more videos of the noise if needed.
Towing a 5th wheel at about 10,000 lbs total. Towards the end of out 9 hour trip home and going upgrade the truck begins to loos power and the engine starts making some bad sounds. Although its hard to hear it starts about 45 seconds in and continues later when going uphill. the truck also made a very high pitched squealing/scraping sound (not a belt) like it may have been coming from the turbo. Oil temp was about 220, trans temp at 170 at the time of the event.
Truck has 216k, stock, upgraded trans cooler, original fuel pump.

Hear a high pitched whistle inside the cabin while driving above 60 mph? I can even hear it over the radio most of the time, with the windows up! I have found it to be the mirrors! After hearing this noise, and pinpointing when it occurs, we finally found it is the mirrors. When they are folded in at speed, the noise disappears completely. I had it to the dealer, who couldn't pinpoint it, and I was trying to blame it on the tires, but found this instead.
View 14 RepliesAfter it has been sitting overnight, I hear a somewhat high pitched whine while driving the car. It seems to go away after the car warms up a bit (maybe I can't hear it). Here are a few other details
a. 2006 Sonata 3.3 V6, ~85K miles on the odo
b. Transmission fluid flushed at Valvoline ~2 weeks ago. I changed it at 39K miles when I bought it. Checked at 78k miles and the color was was good (light red).
c. The noise goes up and down with engine rpm. I have a sound (wav) recording of it, but cannot figure how to attach it.
d. I tried putting it in park and neutral and revving the cold engine, but cannot hear the whine-only happens in drive.
e. Engine oil changed every 3-5k (wife drives it, so I'm not always prompt).
It shifts smoothly (always has) and otherwise drives well.
My car occasionally makes a high pitched whine while driving it's very loud and very frustrating. I've come to the following conclusions: It only happens when the car is warm, it only happens at speeds above 40mph, it doesn't correspond to either accelerating or decelerating, it happens either way and in between. I've had people in the car while it's happened and the noise seems to come from the driver's side rear wheel. Sometimes it gets so loud and then gets even louder when I begin to apply the brakes, it's as if it starts screaming.
I've had mechanics take apart the complete brake system on every wheel and put them back together. They've put anti-squeal on the brakes to no avail. While driving the noise can come and go, with no apparent reason why. It happens in rain and on warm sunny days. Also, the noise seems to oscillate as if it is something that's spinning, I'd guess it's at approximately 160 beats per minute. This has been occurring for about a year, it was not this way when I got the car. No mechanics have ever found anything, but it's so loud! And so annoying and embarrassing. This can't be normal, what is it!?
I seem to have this high pitched whistling noise as I am driving at normal speeds (starts at ~40-45 mph). It seems to coming from my rear drivers side, but I'm not entirely sure. My R has about 78,xxx miles and I haven't done this 80k....
View 5 RepliesOn Sunday the high-pitched beep went off while driving, followed by the orange engine light to the left of the speedo needle and EMISSIONS WORKSHOP coming up on the computer.
Everything is normal. Revs are fine, temp is fine, no other lights come on. I checked the coolant and that is fine too. This happened about two months ago, but it stopped after a couple of days.
Could this be something like an O2 censor?
I have a 2012 golf R with about 25500 miles. I'm getting this high pitch noise coming from the front of the car. I can only hear it with the windows down. It is intermittent, sometimes doesn't show up sometimes there. Gets louder when I turn right. What am I looking at? Wheel bearing? I'm on coilovers.
View 8 RepliesNoticed the barely audible (with good ears) high-pitched sound that emanates from the car when you let off the throttle enough to prevent any charge or discharge bar from showing? It goes away if you completely release the throttle or if you press the throttle a tad bit more.
View 19 RepliesMy 2005 Ford Freestar with 164k miles experiences a high pitched whistling noise coming from the front end after a few minutes of highway speed driving. It sounds like a tea kettle whistle. It starts out as a quick pulsed whistle then moves to a solid whistling noise. I've heard it driving straight and turning. The sound pulsates if I turn the steering wheel slightly to the left or right but seems to occur more when I turn right. The sound does not occur if van is not in motion and will stop just before car comes to rest at a stop. Three repair shops have looked at this and none of them can replicate the sound while van is on a lift but one shop did hear it during a test drive. All three shops have been unable to locate / diagnose this whistling noise. They all state brakes are in very good shape.

I've put on about 2,500 miles so far and recently started noticing when I start the car up, it is giving off a high pitched squeaking noise. This happens both when the car is using the electric battery and when I can feel the gas engine kick in. After about a minute or two, the noise goes away and doesn't come back.
