The strangest thing has happened to my 450h tailgate, there are two patches of yellow that are popping up. These were not there when I bought it back in June (it is not under warranty/purchased from a small local dealer). Last week I started to notice a faint yellow tint in those spots, but it's like it's getting worse over time.

It just has this horrible yellow streak from the friction. I don't want to buy one of those electric car buffers (broke college student) so is there a way I can fix this by hand?
View 5 RepliesI bought a new 2014 RX450H in late December of 2013. The car has 5000 mikes on it now and today when cleaning the car, I noticed (hard to believe but true) 3 separate rust spots coming through the finish on the back hatch panel. I know I need to contact the dealer, but should I be screaming for a new body panel or just accept the fact the my new car has to be repainted? This is the 4th RX I have had. Never ever had a problem before.
View 8 RepliesRandomly when I am driving, I hear faint beeping in the car. It is not a loud beep such as ones that come from the parking assist, or from accelerating too hard in EV mode. There is no error message. It is the same kind of beep as the above mentioned but not loud. It is so faint you can barely hear it and where it is coming from or why. Who knows, there night have a bomb under the car.

It is getting more noticeable (especially on broken pavement/rough roads) It's annoying and the only issue I have with the car.
View 8 RepliesThe last two mornings I have gone into my garage and have heard a faint "buzzing" noise that seems to be coming from the rear of 2013 RX350. Given the location of the noise, my first inclination was that it was possibly the fuel pump running a cycle for some reason. But when I heard it for the second day in a row, I figured it would be wise to ask if this is normal or something I should take up with the dealer?

Right now I'm planning to get 35% tint on my front side windows (legal limit in Nevada) and 15% on the rear side and back windows, although I may end up going lighter on the sides and back.
In any case I'm wondering whether or not I should have the lower back (strip) window tinted since, as mentioned on another thread, it has already been tinted by the factory. Also, it is the perfect height for my Corgi puppies to view the world and I don't want to obstruct their view. I'm also concerned about what some people have said about being able to see at night.
I tinted my Prius v's rear hatch window with SunTek CXP film yesterday morning. When driving at night with the tinted window, there are streaks of glare along rear defogger lines caused by the headlights behind me.

The car is 3 months old, and I looked over the other day to see a bluish tint on the edge closest to the door of the front passenger seat. When I bought the car the finance lady warned me that blue jeans could leach into the seats but I thought she was just trying to scare me into buying a coating for the seats, which I didn't buy. I haven't tried to clean it yet.

Anyways, they are having trouble with the drivers side window bc that little autoroll down feature when you open the door keeps on messing up the bottom edge of the tint. I've already taken it back to the shop for them to fix it and now I have to take it back on Monday to get it fixed again.
Any way to disable this auto roll down feature on the rc 350?
I was washing my Elantra earlier and I noticed water spots all over the windshield when I was done cleaning it! Side, and rear windows too. What can I do to get rid of them? I tried 50/50 water and vinegar, and a lot came off but I still have quite a bit.
View 16 RepliesIt's hot and humid here in Illinois. Yesterday my wife was driving early in the morning with the AC on, and the windshield was fogging up on the outside. A pattern of spots showed up, and they persist after the wipers pass over the glass. They don't show up when the glass is dry, but on washing with windex they show up as the surface approaches dry.
Are these waterspots? Are they something else, like wax or oil? This is a 2010 matrix which we bought used about a month ago, so I don't know its car-washing-history, but it resided in Florida as a rental, I believe.
Or is there something else possible? Can the glass have gotten "de-laminated" enough to have some internal fogging?
I noticed the A/C was not blowing cold air. I also noticed oil spots on the driveway. I jacked up the car and there is oil coming from Evap drain line. I bought a can of refrigerent with a gauge. The A/C was low. The car took the whole 18 oz and was still low. But blows cold air now. My guess is that the evaporator is leaking.
2010 ES 350 96000 miles
I detailed the 350 today and noticed on the plate that has the "LEXUS" name on it, on the driver's threshold, that there are rust spots forming. The plate looks to be either brushed chrome or stainless steel. I'm thinking it's chrome and thus the rust. Or, could be a defective piece of stainless steel. I intend to take it in to the dealer for repair or replacement.
View 11 RepliesOur 2004 RX recently developed white spots on the plastic part of the steering wheel. This occurred gradually and is only on one side. I've tried using an all-purpose cleaner but that did not work.
View 3 RepliesI went to an outdoor auto show the other day. When I got home I saw some white paint looking dots on my car. The dots are the size of salt, peppered on top of my car. I can only see it up close. I started using my nails to get them off, they started to break down and some of them started to have fiberglass looking "tails",after some effort I was able to remove a few. I can't see myself doing that on the whole car. Not sure if I should use the clay bar on it, I don't want to scratch the paint.
I'm going to try some of these tips tomorrow, but mine doesn't look like spray paint. It's like some kind of alien paint/fiberglass mix.
Problem with the paint chipping/flaking on the hood of a 2010 LE? I have three spots, about 1/16"-1/8" on my hood that have chipped/flaked and you can see the primer. I don't think that I have been hit by flying debris but that's not to say that it couldn't be the case. I'm thinking of mentioning it to the dealer when I go in for my 20K service just so it is on record should there be some future TSB/recall for a paint problem. Car has been on the road for 18 months.

View 18 RepliesBought the wife's 2013 Elantra GL in March, it is North American built, and has only 4500 kms on it. Last week we noticed a couple cracks in the paint and it looks like the paint it wrinkling and therefore opening up at the crack. Both cracks are located in the exact same position on either side of the car, and the exact same. They are on the plastic bumper cover, where the bumper meets the quarter panel and tailight. Since the paint has migrated back, you can clearly see the black plastic underneath. Sent a text message to my service rep and he said it should be no problem to get it covered under warranty. Now, just need to make the time to get the car into the dealer...
