Randomly when I am driving, I hear faint beeping in the car. It is not a loud beep such as ones that come from the parking assist, or from accelerating too hard in EV mode. There is no error message. It is the same kind of beep as the above mentioned but not loud. It is so faint you can barely hear it and where it is coming from or why. Who knows, there night have a bomb under the car.
View 14 RepliesI was driving 71-72 on an interstate with a 70 mph limit. In the distance, on a bridge I saw a bunch of police cars. Suddenly the Prius started beeping. No alarms went off on the MFD.
Within seconds of the Prius beeping, I saw a cop crouched on the side of the highway pointing his radar gun right at the car. As soon as I passed the cop, the beeping stopped.
Driving a 2008 Passat with a factory 6 disc radio installed noticed a faint beeping sound after applying the brake when the SAT Radio is selected? I hear it all the time, especially when I'm listening to talk show and the volume is up high. Surprisingly, it doesn't make that sound when I have the CD Player selected.
View 3 RepliesOur 07 RX350 has 47,000 miles and I just starting to hear (I think from the front) a faint rattling noise while driving. It's hard to describe but it sort of sounds like what you might expect if an empty plastic bottle was slowly bumping around in a plastic box. It is not a metal on metal type of noise. The shocks/struts appears to pass the old bounce test and the car does not seem to display any of the handling issues you get when you have worn shocks/struts.
I also checked the upper engine compartment to see if any plastic shrouds or covers were loose - they weren't.
I just sold my 2006 GS430 to pick up a 2007 LS460. So far I have no complaints.
First off: I am NOT condoning driving without a seatbelt. Merely asking a question.
In my gs430 I can go through a series of commands to disable the seat belt buzzer from beeping while i drive without a seat belt. I've browsed the forums and haven't seemed to find the same thing for the LS460.
Is it even possible it to disable it without having the dealer reprogram?
2015 GX460... Getting a loud beeping when you are in reverse? I have looked in the manual but could not find a way to turn it off.

These were not there when I bought it back in June (it is not under warranty/purchased from a small local dealer). Last week I started to notice a faint yellow tint in those spots, but it's like it's getting worse over time.
View 3 RepliesOk, I been through 2 Lexus dealerships and they wont shut off the gosh darn seatbelt beeping noise this car is driving me crazy. I always wear my seatbelt but not when I hop into and drive out of my driveway.
My question is just like how BMW has there's is there a computer program where you buy a usb of some sort and plug it into your computer to shut it off yourself? It's those machines that let you check engine RPM's and what your car is doing and such.
I have had my 2010 GS450h for a few months now and about a month after I bought it, I noticed a faint rattle from the steering column, almost like there is a loose bolt or something. It is getting more noticeable (especially on broken pavement/rough roads) It's annoying and the only issue I have with the car.

I noticed that when the vehicle is in drive and is stopped at a stop sign/light on a steep incline (i.e. front of vehicle is at significantly higher than rear), when accelerating away from the stop, the traction control system (?) will beep and make some noise for a second or two if the car rolls backward from the stop when the brake is released.

Given the location of the noise, my first inclination was that it was possibly the fuel pump running a cycle for some reason. But when I heard it for the second day in a row, I figured it would be wise to ask if this is normal or something I should take up with the dealer?
View 3 RepliesOk so I have a 09 tiguan S that stalled yesterday while driving only a few short min. My wife had been driving home about 4 miles when she got home I could hear a faint squealing noise as she pulled up. I left right after and assumed it was the the ac belts it that exist, so to verify that I turned off the ac and the sound did fade. I drove with it off for a few min then turned it on again the car acted normal and cooled just fine then about 5 min later I pulled into a lot and while waiting for others to move the engine stalled and I had the engine light, epc and battery lights showing. Now it was something like 110 outside and I thought overheated but the temp gauge showed normal and I received no warnings. I smelled a burned rubber smell and I recall seeing a small puff of smoke. I could not locate anything that could have burned out. The only thing I could see that was unusual was what looked like buildup on the air intake tubes.

As soon as I drove off both turn signals started flashing and a tone beeping.
The flashers stopped after a minute, but the beeping sounded all the way home.Very Annoying.
I've been having an on going issue where my Pirus will start beeping but there is no indicator light I can see showing any kind of issue. It will start beeping during startup and after driving for a while, no exact time something like after 25~30 mins. It sounds like the seatbelt beep but louder and both will beep when my wife does not have hers on.
I replaced the Aux battery(was old needed to anyway) with a yellow top but that didn't fix it. And again there is no indicator on the dash or display showing issues no red or orange triangles. Checked the prius's diagnostics but no codes appear under the diagnosis check I or II, sycheck mode or LAN monitor.
I have a 2009 Corolla 1.8 with 18,000 miles on it. My wife mainly drives it, today after getting it washed, I was driving and noticed a very faint noise from the engine compartment. Seems to be coming from the passenger front. The sound is something like grr grr grr.... I made sure it's not the wheels by putting the car in neutral and giving it gas which made the sound audible (I can also hear it while idling).
I had my wife sit in the car with me, and she couldn't hear anything, but I can, so I'm afraid when I go to the dealer he will say the same "I can't replicate the noise". What it can be?
2005 f150 super cab, 5.4 liter, 4x4 107k miles. I have a 12 bolt rear differential and the tag on the door has an axle code of "B6". No noise under power or braking but if your driving along flat road and not much power is needed to keep the truck moving then there is a hum almost sounds like faint grinding but not quite. The differential housing gets hot to touch after a 30 mile drive down the interstate.
My brother was the previous owner and this has made the noise for years so it's not critical but annoying. I removed the dif. cover to change the oil. All the teeth are smooth, no rough or grinding surfaces. No play at the wheel end so I don't believe its a bad bearing. Oil was used but not burnt up or sludgy and very few metal flakes at bottom of housing. Thought it looked good for the age. Also, both wheels off ground and truck in neutral. There seems to be a lot of resistance while turning the wheel. I don't think the brakes are dragging but will eliminate that possibility this weekend.
What rear axle I have. Why its making the noise? How to repair it? Is this a posi diff?

View 2 RepliesI had my Prius for almost 4 years and I'm used to all the hybrid noises: brake pump after opening the door, emission control pump hours after driving, high pitched inverter noise in EV, etc. This is different. Very faint and I only noticed it because I opened the hood right after driving. The car was completely off, but there was some small electric motor activated somewhere inside the engine. Is this electric coolant pump?
View 4 RepliesWhen it heats up and expands, I often hear a faint "pop" from the muffler. Same thing when I shut the car off and it cools down and contracts. Kind of like denting a pop can with your thumb.
Doesn't really bother me, just curious. It's kind of a funny quirk. Will try to take a video clip of it. Usually does it within 30 seconds of shutting it down.
I've had my Prius 2012 3rd Gen Pckg 2 for about 1 month and love it. I've noticed that when it is quiet i can here a very light noise when turning the wheel and the power steering motor is working. It's a very faint sound resembling shhhhhh. The sound could just be the normal power steering sound but wanted to confirm.
View 1 RepliesWhy the continuous beeping in reverse? Wouldn't one beep suffice? My suggestion to the engineers would be...If you must have the car do something extra electronically while backing-up, have it mute the radio speakers. My guess is that more accidents would be prevented by the forced silence, than by the distracting beeping.
