When I press and hold the brake and lightly release the pressure. The brakes would make this loud squeal. This happens when the car on or off. Just found out today that if I have to stop really suddenly, it makes the same noise. I have an rx450h w 42k miles. Any thought?
View 11 RepliesI recently noticed that when I release the parking brake on our new 15 F-Sport it make a loud noise. It's hard to explain, but it kind of sounds like a spring being released with a clunking sound. (Sorry for the weird description).
When I press the brake to set it I am not pushing it all the way to the floor or forcing it at all. I am just using normal pressure to apply it.
I have a 2005 Murano, 96K.
In Aug 2011, I had the rear disc brakes/rotors replaced. Front ones were replaced in Feb of this year.
For the past month, whenever I release the brake, I hear squealing (no sound when I press the brake to stop). Last about 5 secs, or until I hit about 15-20 MPH. Seems to happen only after the brakes heat up. I've tried to "Google" the answer, but the answers are mostly for drum brakes.
I replaced my brake pads and rotors and now the driver's side brake has a loud pitched squeal. It doesn't squeal all the time and if I let up on the brakes and apply them it goes away.
I think maybe one piston is hung up.
How do you free up a stuck piston in the caliper piston?
Or could there be another reason for the squeal.
I installed Callahan slotted rotors and ceramic pads on all 4-wheels.
I bought the 2013 GS 350 F-sport thinking it would be a long lasting reliable car.... I've had brake squeal since day one. My car now has 45k miles on it, all miles driven with the insanely loud brake squeal. It's been to the dealership many times but they've change the brake pads only once and refused to resurface or swap the rotors. After I called Lexus corporate and filled a case, I finally got the managers attention. (1800-25lexus for those in need)
The manager tells me that the brake squeal can be caused by the drivers driving pattern. He basically said that if you don't drive hard enough or maybe even drive too hard, the rotors will glaze over and you will get squeal. -so let me get this right, I have to drive a certain way all the time so I don't get brake squeal? - Long story short, he asked me to come in again so he can see the squeal himself.
Aside from the brake squeal..
-My front and rear passenger side shocks blew out and were replaced at 20k miles.
-I've had a rattle in my passenger side dash since 10k miles that the dealer refuses to fix. They say trying to fix it will cause more rattle.
-My back up camera is now pointing too low. Every time I go in for a fix it just ends up happening again after the fix.
-My rear view mirror is loose.
I can deal with the small things but that damn brake squeal is so loud that it actually pierces my ears when I brake next to a car with my windows down.. Brake squeal has now started on my sisters 2014 is350 f-sport as well. How I can fix the brake squeal so I can sell the car?
When I release it then start in reverse often the car doesn't move then there is a loud sound from the right rear tire. If I don't engage the brake it reverse fine.I don't know where to start with this. I assume there is a cable going back to the wheel cylinders. Perhaps binding up somehow.

This morning after starting the car and releasing the brakes I heard loud clunking sound (seemed like a belt ?) Turned the car off. tried it again exact same thing, turned if off .. opened the hood to see if I can tell where this was coming from.. started the car and the clunking came for <1 sec and went away, car drove fine brakes worked fine..
I read something regarding temp changes we have had some change but not a drastic change, and the car was driven over the weekend.
The scene: 22k miles on a 2010 Prius II. Loud rear brake squeal, worse when backing, but still present going forward at low speeds. Does not seem to go away even when warmed up. I put it off having it checked at first because a little rust on the pads is very common in my climate.
At the dealer, the tech tells me I've worn completely through the pads and scored the rotor! At 22k! On a Prius, for crying out loud! It's not my driving, either, because that's the first I've ever had anything done to rear brakes on any car before 75k. The front brakes needed no attention at all. I challenged the service tech with these points; he even took me back into the shop to show me. The caliper pistons were moving freely, for what it's worth. Ultimately he just shrugged me off.
Today I stopped at the post office to check my mail. I put the car in park and didn't shut off the engine - this is what I always do. When I returned a few moments later the car would not go into reverse (this was after releasing the parking brake) and the traction control symbol came on. The car would go into drive but that didn't work much as I was up against a hill (or almost against it). Shutting the car off and turning it on again solved the problem. The parking space was badly potholed; I'm assuming I had less than full contact on one wheel which caused the traction control to kick in which prevented reverse from engaging. And to be clear - it's not that it went into reverse but didn't go anywhere; reverse simply wouldn't engage (I did not try neutral),
View 13 RepliesIn the last couple of months I have noticed my '10 Prius III begins to roll forward or backwards about a foot depending upon which drive mode I select without releasing the brake. So here's the normal scenario I get in the car have my foot on the brake, turn it on wait for the ready beep/light, my foot has never left the brake or lessened pressure but not so much as to trigger the hill assist, I shift into D to go forward but say a car is coming and I don't want to go yet my car moves about a foot forward and I feel the brake pump up and then resist my foot. The same thing happens if I put it in R she rolls back a foot and stops. I don't recall noticing it before the great ECU update but I also can't say it didn't happen before the update was accomplished.

1) Loud brake squeal left front on very light pressure. Pads have 75% left.
2) Vibrating/thumping noise up front above 80mph. Does not sound mechanical and not felt through the wheel at all. Seems like a loose piece of trim flapping. Wheel well liners and plastic pan under car seem tight. And no, driving under 80 is not an option.

Our 2013 RX350 has a brake pedal that makes a pretty loud noise when it snaps back after you depress it a little harder and take your foot off. I complained to my SA, and they told me it's normal. It's not a big deal, but any other car I have owned, I have never noticed such a thing.
View 12 RepliesBought a 2004 GX470 a few months ago. Took it into the local Toyota dealer for oil change (40+ miles to nearest Lexus)
They told me I needed to replace front brake pads, so I did that. Immediately after they finished I noticed what I would describe as a clack or clank sound when pressing or releasing the brake pedal.
This sound was not there before. I went back inside and told them, the tech came out and listened and said it would probably go away. I took the car back in a couple weeks later and they applied some type of lube which didn't work. The service rep said that the only way to remove sound was to replace some type of pin.
I own an '05 Prerunner with 56k miles. Had the front pads replaced and turned the rotors last Spring.
Now, after sitting for awhile, as I back up the front brakes squeal. (Sounds like a rock in a caliper its so loud.)
Toyota has a TSB to fix this.
Just picked up a new 2014 rx fsport and 75% of the time I release the e-brake it has a loud clunk as if metal smashing metal. I tried releasing it really slow and it still does the same. The vehicle is parked on flat pavement. It is not a low click noise that I am used to but a loud clunk.

Now when I turn in my left turn signal it blinks fast which I can live with that but it would be nice if it blinked at the regular phase. Here my big problem. When I turn on my right turn signal there's a loud squeal in the cab of my truck. !!!
View 8 RepliesI recently had new front oem rotors and pads installed on my 13 GS F Sport rwd and after a few hours of driving the loud squeal coming from the front was very embarrassing. I'm ready to pull whatever hairs on my head I have left. When I'm coming to a stop I hear it. If I'm braking lightly I hear it. If I reverse I hear it. I had the same problem prior to replacing the rotors and pads and felt that it was being caused by not having my rotors resurfaced prior to installing the last set of pads. Now, I have new everything and I have the same problem. I've already spent so much on the front brakes and I can't stand having an expensive car that sounds like a cheap car.
View 14 RepliesI was driving home today and noticed a loud fan squeal when I had the heat on. It is a constant squeal and gets louder as I increase the fan speed. It went away if I turned the fan system off. My drive was about 20 minutes and it squealed the entire time. I thought maybe it would go away as the car warmed up but it didn't. 2009 ES 350...
View 3 RepliesWhat is this metal on metal noise...you hear it the best around the 7-12 second mark...it is especially loud on cold start in the morning when you put the car in "drive" but don't move the car forward. It also is prevalent on hot days when you park the car outside and just start the car. The sound gets louder when you turn on the a/c during the hot day.

I just purchased a LS 460 2007, 64k miles. The brake when apply squeal, but not all the time when the break is applied. 5 times out of 10 times when you apply the break when driving the car for more than 20 minutes it start to squeal. It does not squeal when you first drive in the morning, but after driving more than 20 minutes, when you apply the brake - it will squeal on and off during various application of the break. Does the LS460 have brake indicator that would squeal all the time when you need new break? I am not sure what the sign that LS460 would need new break and rotor.....
View 4 RepliesSo I purchased my 2015 Lexus IS 350 AWD F-Sport back in October and experienced the following issues:
1. Brake squeal
- seems to occur when reversing out of a parking spot for example, so annoying and extremely loud, makes it sound like my brakes need changing
2. Bluetooth Radio
- there are times where my phone connects to the radio, plays music off my iPhone but then it sounds like the singer is slowly dying i.e.: the type of sound you used to hear when a walkman's batteries would be dying and needed changing. Happens sporadically
3. Gas tank lid on side of car won't close fully
- this happened just this week. I couldn't close my gas lid, no matter what I did. I managed to get it closed today after starting my car, wonder if its related at all to power/engine being on etc?
4. Buzzing in gas pedal resonates through foot
- this one is still driving me insane. Drive my car for 10-15 minutes on the highway and your foot feels like pins/needles from the buzzing sensation from the gas pedal.
