View 14 RepliesShe's 10 years old with most of her life spent in AZ. This means that a lot of the rubber she has is dead or dying.
Is it possible to replace the bushings in the trailing arm or is it true that you have to replace the entire trailing arm?
I have a motorcycle carrier than plugs into a trailer hitch on my PIP. It drags the rear end. Is there a way to stiffen the rear shocks? Is there any shocks that I can vary the pressure in maybe by air?
View 10 RepliesMy 2006 GX470 just has 82,000 miles on it, and the rear shocks are already out. This vehicle only drives normal roads, nothing rough. It is ten years old, and sits outside. Still, I don't get it.
View 9 RepliesJust back from a 300 mile run back in light to moderate rain. Car performed beautifully running probably 95% at speeds of 70 or 65. 45MPG with a/c on and cruise where I could. Considering the added drag of plowing through water, I figure that is pretty good especially since I was not driving to maximize MPG, I was anxious to get there and into my own bed.
Got home and went to unload it and noticed a band of dark dirt perhaps 1" wide on both rear doors conforming to the rear edge of the door just forward of where the door edge meets the door pillar.
Was never off road or in a construction zone. Doors were closed normally. Rest of car clean except for a few bugs that were fatally attracted to the lights.
Is this typical? Or a sign of misalignment? Caused by some air being evacuated from the car's interior?
Need to change the rear coil over shocks and have a possible how to?
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to access my rear subwoofer in my 07 LS 460 with Mark Levinson. It seems to be blown or ripped somewhere as it makes a loud noise when it hits. Will the top grill just pop off? Or do I gotta do a full removal? If so, how do I get to it.
View 14 RepliesI'm pretty certain that my 22mm neuspeed sway bar bushings are shot. they squeak like crazy and when I looked at them to grease them up it looked like they had space, oh and they knock like crazy. Any better source or place to check locally? Would Napa carry something like this? and is Poly my only option? would a rubber bushing wear quicker?
View 3 RepliesAs a lot of Camry in this world, my rear sway bar bushings went bad. Tried to replace them, I went slowly with the ratchet on the first bolt as I don't want to go with the impact tool, but that damn bolt decided to break anyway...
I called my local dealer and he said he don't have the replacement in stock and he cannot tell me the size of this bolt.
What is the size? My 07 SE have the bracket with only two bolts.
Bushings on the rear strut rod and rear carrier assembly where the rod attaches are gone - any source? From what I can tell these are not sourced individually?
View 4 RepliesMy rear control arm bushings are cracking. I was wondering if this is a serious problem and what negative effects it will have if I leave them alone.
View 10 RepliesI have a '92 Aerostar XLT with a rear control arm problem. The bushings have worn out and the rear end floats side to side as much as 1 1/2 inches. Ford says one bushing comes in the arm ( no longer avail ), one is a press in (no longer available), and the other is like a strut bushing and is available but without the other 2 there is no point in replacing the one. How to fix this enormous problem???
View 10 RepliesBrought the Tig in for an oil change & while it was on the lift the tech noticed that the subject bushings are cracked/separating...Tig has about 43,400 mi...is this a common issue?
View 6 RepliesI bought a used 2007 Lexus RX350, FWD, in December 2012 and had it looked over before I signed the papers by a non-biased mechanic. He said the control arm bushings would need to be replaced in the future.
When I took the car in last month to my mechanic (a private mechanic, not a Lexus dealership), he said the control arm bushings on the right side are worn a lot more than the left side. He said on this Lexus, it would require removing the engine to replace the parts (?) and that because it was such a labor intensive job, and the left will eventually wear, that he advises I get both the left and right replaced at the same time.
I have just installed the V2's on my R - amazing! however the rears are a bit soft for my taste. I am wondering can the damping be adjusted without removing the rear shocks? Can I access the damping adjusted from the trunk?
View 9 RepliesInstalled four Gruven rear adjustable control arms and during a visual inspection noticed thin oil film starting to run down both rear shocks. Doesn't surprise me as one of the previous owners installed them minus the rear perches. Anyway, suggestions on replacing just the rears? Cannot find KW replacements, if they even exist. They should but dealing with KW in the past it would not surprise me if they said I have to purchase an entire new set up. Koni Sports? No likey Bilstein.
View 7 RepliesCar has a little over 100K. How to replace the bushings on the suspension arms. Took my car in for the brake switch recall and was told my bushings were cracked. Not sure which ones, but I assume all of them. Looked online for a DIY, but not for the RX330. From some of the DIY's I've seen so far, it looks like a bit$! to replace those rubber bushings.
View 14 RepliesMy rear bushings on my 1997, A4 Audi, make a crunching thumping sounds when the body torques over irregular surfaces. My Audi mechanic says that it is the bushings. Replacing the A frames and bushings will cost more than half the car's worth. I belief that dust got into the bushings when I went on dirt roads in Death Valley or they are just worn. When I blast the bushings with water the noise disappears or dampens for a while. Car has 186,000 miles. To keep the noise down, can I add graphite or some other material to the bushings?
View 4 RepliesThe rubber bushing (is it a bushing) at the top of the right rear shock on my 2002 Santa Fe is wearing away. Can I replace just that? Or do I have to do the whole shock? The shock itself seems fine.
View 2 RepliesI think my rear window shocks are shot. Last week when the temps hit -15 they completely failed. Are these a rebuild-able shock or do I need to purchase new ones?
Why do I have a bad feeling that this will be an overpriced item????
What is the degree of difficulty in replacing the rear shocks on a 2WD 2002 F150?
