My 2012 RX350 now for over a year and like it a lot.........BUT.
There's seems to be a lot "road noise" that's transmitted back into the cabin, like driving over expansion joints on blacktop or rough road surface, is this normal?
I drove a 2000 RX300 for 100,000 miles and don't remember it being this noisy. Interior noise is great and quiet.
I hear a bit of a squeaking noise. Very minimal. Coming from back when I'm on rough roads. Is that normal. Sounds like it might be from coilover or somewhere in the back.
View 2 RepliesI noticed when driving on a rough surface/road (gravel, snowy road with sand) the there is a considerable amount of noise coming inside the cabin on the rear end especially.
When I was doing a quick wash today I just realized the sound is coming from the wheel base. On the rear and front end there is a plastic covering the wheel base. Sound proofing / undercoating wheel base.
Experienced excessive road noise with RX350? I have a 2014 with Dunlop tires, and on certain types of asphalt roads the road noise is incredibly high --- on other types it is unnoticeable. I'm thinking it might be the tires, but I'm not certain.
View 4 RepliesI have an RX 450H and noticed that there is a squeaking sound coming from the dashboard. I looked at other posts where people were experiencing similar issues and noticed one post where someone had a GS 450H and fixed this issue by adding felt between the dashboard and the windscreen.
I would like to know whether this method works 100% and whether I can apply this method to the RX 450H. The noise becomes worse when it is cold and especially when the car is being driven over rough road surfaces and speed bumps.
I have A 2012 Sierra Crew Cab. I get a lot of ROAD Noise from the 2 back doors .
View 1 RepliesI just got a 2007 Prius and using it mostly on a dirt/rough road. My problem is that there is a metal cranking noise coming from under car and trunk. This is nit happened when i drive on a good road.
I already asked the mechanic to check sway bar, shocks, struts, and brake. They said everything is okay except the front left strut boots which is already worn out. But the strut itself is still in good condition.
I'm OK everything except the noise. Already replaced new tires but it doesn't work....
When I'm driving with Windows up and audio off I can hear this hollow road noise, static buzzing sound from my back right side.
View 11 RepliesWe own a 2013 RX 350, purchased less than a year ago. We are experiencing this rattling noise coming from inside the side panels, its frequency changes depending on road and weather conditions like if road is rough or if its windy. We have taken the vehicle to Lexus Service three times so far for the same issue, they have acknowledged the issue. Last service took almost a month but still no remedy.
As of last service, Lexus took the entire roof liner down to fix the issue but it came back after one day post service.
Noise is extremely irritating because it occurs next to driver's left ear and is annoying as anything can be. Same goes for right ear for the front passenger.
We have owned Nissan Maxima, BMW and Lexus before and none of the vehicles had this issue.
Was wondering if take out the carpet and added dyno mat or fat mat yet. Does this make a big difference in road noise? Or very little? My C2 seems pretty loud on the freeway.
View 9 RepliesMy 2014 GX has been great except for one annoying problem; with BSM mode enabled, the passenger side BSM indicator randomly lights solid when driving down the road with NO vehicles around me (driver side indicator works perfectly 100% of the time). Does not appear to be correlated to temperature, day/night, humidity, speed, or conditions mentioned in the manual. Other current RX and GX owners I know don't seem to have the issue.
Can the BSM system be calibrated or is the detection program burned into the individual sensors and control module such that the system cannot be re-calibrated? Does a GX BSM system publication exist? I have several photos illustrating the problem. Reported to dealer. The dealers conversation with Lexus was that it is not a perfect system with no explanation as to why one side would have the issue but the other wouldn't. Below is the online reference that Lexus provides. The BSM feature is a very nice one except for this intermittent issue.

Start the car, turn to steering wheel 30 degree to the left and quicky turn the steering to the right, i can hear some knocking sound from steering wheel or steering column, when I drive on bumpy roads, i can hear the rattle sound from steering wheel or column.
View 2 RepliesIt's only at higher speeds ( read highway travel ) that I have an issue with the road noise intruding into the cabin....mostly emanating from the rear, as best I can tell. I can live with it but I prefer not to.
I took my car to a buddy who operates a shop dealing with high-end stereo conversions, etc. Surprisingly, he said he deals with these issues all the time....including vehicles in all price ranges. He uses a product that he claims to be very effective at deadening the transfer of road noises. I had him look over my SF and make recommendations.
The product comes in fairly large sheets that are easily trimmed to conform to the spaces being treated. These sheets appear to be some sort of rubber based material. The product is applied to the inner surfaces of the car's exterior metal. Once applied ( primarily a gluing-on process ) the stuff adheres there, according to him, " for life ".
For application, he has to remove all the interior plastic pieces so he can get to the exposed body metal behind them. In my case, he would also do the rear doors so the interior door panels on those doors will also come off. Once he has access to all the areas he wants to get at, he preps the metal and glues on the product. According to him, getting all the plastic parts and door panels off, and then back on, is a snap.
When im driving my truck down the road all the power cuts off then comes back on, don't know what it is?

View 3 RepliesI'm battling an odd suspension issue...over the last 5-7,000 miles, I've had a strange vibration issue surface that has varied in intensity depending on speed and road surface. I've had a damaged wheel trued, replaced all four tires and had all four wheels/tires RFV balanced. The vibration has changed but not quite gone away. Instead, it's been joined by an increased vagueness in directional stability (tendency to wander) at highway speed.
Last week, the tech balancing my tires said he felt my right hand front rear control arm bushing was worn. The more I've thought about this, the more I'm wondering if this is what might be the source of this mystery vibration issue. So, I really have two questions?
First, bad front CA rear bushing replaced under warranty? 15,000 miles does NOT seem like an acceptable service life for a suspension bushing? Do these bushings have a history of premature wear and failure, or am I just lucky?
Second, if I do have to replace one or both bushings (left and right pt. no. 5C407183A,) I'd like to ask if the solid bushing (pt. no. 1J0407181) from a Jetta or Beetle will work in a Passat control arm? If I do have to replace the bushing, it might be better to put a more solid piece of rubber in there instead of the flimsier original part.
Installed one of the wireless bu cams from Pep boys earlier this year. Anyhow it hooks to the bu lights and has a pwr source from the fuse box. Works ok, but every now and again it will flicker while I am driving down the road, is also slow to illuminate when reverse is engaged. What the issue may be? Its a VRBCS300W.
View 1 RepliesMy dad has a 2002 Limited X and my uncle had a '99? F350 dually. Both have this issue:
-Occasionally when driving down the road the truck will suddenly just try to veer off to one side or the other and then the steering gets really rough (The steering wheel moves back and forth rapidly. My dad has to pull off to the side of the road, completely stop and turn the wheel all the way to each side twice and it seems to correct it momentarily.
-The other issue is that when making a corner there will be a hard "thump" noise, and then the before mentioned issue occurs.
My dad has replaced all 4 ball joints, the 1 bad tie rod and has gone through a set of Warn Lockout Hubs (In less then 6 months. He had to drive around with the hubs locked in to prevent the truck from pulling due to warn out needle bearing. This somehow resulted in the passenger side Hub being internally destroyed and that wasn't even the side the bad ball joint was on.)
How to replace the Cabin Air Filter in 2010 RX350? I read in here that you need to switch to the ReCirc mode but then how to remove the shelves in the glove compartment? I almost broke it another the day but still can't take it apart.
View 14 RepliesMy vehicle will stutter as I am driving down the road but if/when I stop and drive again it goes away. I have had it to the dealer but they cannot duplicate the problem so they sent the vehicle home without an answer. It almost feels like the tires are out of balance when it stutters. I have recently had the following done to my vehicle; brakes and rotors on front and back, oil change, air filter changed, tires rotated and balanced, replaced spark plugs. The problem does not occur every day or any particular time of the day or evening. I will be driving to Myrtle Beach soon and I am completely frustrated that they are unable to find a problem. They cannot find any codes and the check engine light does not come on when the problem occurs. The vehicle does not seem to lose any power.

winter has been tough here in the north with -30 Celsius (-22 F) every other week. when it's that cold there's squeaking noise from the dashboard / windshield area. mainly from the intersection of both.
Once the car is out of the garage it's ok for a few minutes then noise starts. this only happens if the weather is colder than -10 C (14 F) (i can't blame the car as my bones squeak when it's colder than-10 ) This is definitely an expansion/contraction issue.
The dealer indicated that they will have to remove the dashboard to fix the problem and recommended that I wait towards the end of the warranty, observe other issues and fix all at once as multiple removal of the dashboard may bring new problems (i.e. snapped pieces may get loose).
