We own a 2004 rx330 and a odd thing occurs on warm days. That power liftgate will not open or close with the power buttons. It will open about 2 inches and close. When completely open, the power button will not close it. Works fine on mild weather days.

As soon as the rear door reach the top position, it came back down and closed the door. First, I thought I pressed the button to close but when I tried a few more times, it was keep happening. After going through this initial opening, the second attempt will open properly & close only when Power Door Button is depressed. I have an appointment at Lexus but this sounds like warranty stuff to me -- sudden death of rear hatch? Lexus informed me there is no manual way to open the trunk. Can I somehow manually open the trunk?
I have a 2007 B6 wagon with the power liftgate option and recently the closing function stopped....but the opening function continues to work! I have checked and cleaned the switch on the gate and nor change.
View 10 RepliesThe power liftgate on my 2015 SF Sport will open just fine but as soon as it opens all the way, it begins to close. It doesn't always do this but recently it's happening more than not.
By the way, I do not have the liftgate set to open automatically, just power liftgate is checked on the settings.
My dad drove the RX350 to get some groceries last night and was shocked to see all the windows and moon roof was open after he came out of the store...
My guess is something was pressed against the unlock key on the remote when he was exiting the car and walk toward the supermarket entrance and triggered the all window open from remote...
Fortunately, nothing was stolen but he was shocked...I think I will have the dealer program the RX and disable this feature...
However, I was also shocked that we can only open all the windows but not close them w/ the remote...seems like a bad design...if you can open windows from the remote...you would think you can close all the windows too right??
Recently, I have had a problem with my moon-roof, this is the second time this has happened. Normally when you press the open button, the roof slides all the way open, slides all the way closed and sealed when you close it. It also opens when you remotely open all the windows. OK, for some reason it stopped doing that! You have to press and hold the open-button to open or close it, and when you close it, it won't seal right unless you tap the button just right as it closes. When you open all the windows remotely, the moonroof remains closed.
The first time it started doing this, I took it to my friend's independent Lexus service center (now defunct) and Lee did something with the button to reprogram it and the moonroof worked as before. Recently it stopped working again. I don't know if I pressed something I shouldn't have or what! I assume that there is a way to reset/reprogram the moon-roof, just like there is a way to set the doors to lock - unlock when you shift the car into drive or park? What can I do to save an expensive Lexus dealer reset? My car is 2004, Levi/navi and loaded.
After owning the truck for a little over a year I figure it's time to fix the little stuff staring off with the rear door. When pressing any of the 3 buttons to open/close it I get it to work 50% of the time. That being said, I can't pinpoint a specific bad part.

View 8 RepliesMaybe I am paranoid, but recently I pushed power close button on the lift gate and a family member then also pushed the lift gate shut. Is it possible that the lift gate is broken now? It seems to work fine, but if I listen carefully I can hear some what seems to be grinding noises at the very top. Do the other RX power tailgates make a consistent sound throughout the open and close process.
View 6 RepliesAs the title states, I need to know where that damn switch/sensor that tells the car that the rear hatch is open. Since I got the car, the hatch has been wonky at best when trying to close that hatch via the button. I figured it was going to need a new switch, however I just noticed something today.
I opened the hatch and the rear dome light came on. Pressed the button and it closed no problem. I opened it again a few minutes later and the light never came on. Tried to close it with the button again and it didn't work. And then it all made sense. The sensor that tells the car that the hatch is open is either gummed up or just needs replacing. So where exactly is this thing?
I have read that cleaning or replacing the switch that adjusts the outside rear view mirror's will get rid of the erratic operation of these. Mine sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. How do I get the switch out of that panel? It doesn't look like the panel will pop out from the front.

I know the 400h operates the power steering on a 30V - 50V circuit but I need the wiring diagram of the 400h power steering circuit to know what additional components I'll need to do the conversion.
Question: Why am I doing this?
Answer: Save on fuel economy and power steering maintenance.
I have a 2006 RX 330 with 116,000 miles. I noticed that i had a leak and the power steering oil level was low. I went under the car and looks like the power steering hose is leaking. The dealer wants $352 for hose and $325 for labor. I called auto parts stores and they say its a dealer item only. Someone told me I could have a hose company rebuild it for a lot less.

I'm wondering if anyone tapped the switch in the rear and run the wire to the front & put a switch there so we can close it from inside. Sometimes we accidentally open the trunk and have to run out to close it.
View 14 RepliesOur car was rear-ended (we had a great shop to the repairs and the car drives/looks like it did pre-accident). However, the navigation door magically stopped working now that we have the car back. The navigation screen still works fine, but the open/cose buttons will not make the door/lid open.
On other threads I have searched here, people have suggested this could be from the door being off-track (not the case here), a broken motor (could be the case), and/or a blown fuse (also could be the case).
What fuse I would need to check if it is in fact a fuse? I've looked at the fuse boxes in the engine bay (by the battery) and in the trunk, but all fuses look fine. Is there anywhere else I should look for a fuse before wasting a day at the dealer to diagnose/fix the problem?
So i haven't used my top for awhile because it's been really hot in texas. I tried it for the first time today and I can't even get the open close switch to blink red? I did a ecu reset by unplugging the battery for 30 minutes nothing. I check the fuses in the trunk and they were all good. I did install the VIas awhile back but I don't think it could be the temp control? I'm assuming if it wasn't plugged in all the way the AC and other functions would not work.
