Tried to open the rear hatch with the key. No lights flashing. No beep.... Dead.

I have an appointment at Lexus but this sounds like warranty stuff to me -- sudden death of rear hatch? Lexus informed me there is no manual way to open the trunk. Can I somehow manually open the trunk?
The hatchback on my 2005 prius wont open from the outside. It will open from the inside. It will unlock all of the doors when I lift up on the handle. I've tried looking for the actuator. Where it is located? I have the panel off of the inside of the hatchback. Wires look OK.
View 14 RepliesI have read that cleaning or replacing the switch that adjusts the outside rear view mirror's will get rid of the erratic operation of these. Mine sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. How do I get the switch out of that panel? It doesn't look like the panel will pop out from the front.
View 2 RepliesThis is the second year I've owned my 2007 Prius, and it seems to be getting worse.
In the summer, the hatch will open with ease! The handle recognizes my hand there and unlocks the hatch and whammo bammo we're in business. In the winter, especially the really really cold weather like we're having now (down to about 10 over night) the hatch refuses to open.
We own a 2004 rx330 and a odd thing occurs on warm days. That power liftgate will not open or close with the power buttons. It will open about 2 inches and close. When completely open, the power button will not close it. Works fine on mild weather days.

As soon as the rear door reach the top position, it came back down and closed the door. First, I thought I pressed the button to close but when I tried a few more times, it was keep happening. View 9 RepliesI have Rx 330 2005 AWD, recently we dont have winters, so I don't need 4x4 . Is it possible to drive without the back drive shaft? It very easy to remove it, but is it save for e.g. differential or other mechanisms? By the way I could reduce fuel consumption, I think, 18miles/gallon is really too much for polish realities.
View 2 RepliesDisconnected battery and all the switches in the dash, including on/off in glove box. So that's what caused the problem. Now to fix it. I re-connected battery and all switches, bit hatch won't open with key switch or any switches in car (at door or in front dash). I did manual open and close without any result., the button in glove box is pushed in.

View 6 RepliesAs the title states, I need to know where that damn switch/sensor that tells the car that the rear hatch is open. Since I got the car, the hatch has been wonky at best when trying to close that hatch via the button. I figured it was going to need a new switch, however I just noticed something today.
I opened the hatch and the rear dome light came on. Pressed the button and it closed no problem. I opened it again a few minutes later and the light never came on. Tried to close it with the button again and it didn't work. And then it all made sense. The sensor that tells the car that the hatch is open is either gummed up or just needs replacing. So where exactly is this thing?
My 2002 Santa Fe Back Hatch Door will not open. I have removed the inside panel & all the linkage seems to work OK. But the main latch will not let go & I cannot see where to trip it. How I can get it opened, just can't see where to trip it but believe it can be done from inside.

View 2 RepliesI just bought a (new to me) 2007 RX 350. Love the car. The only problem is that the previous owner had kids and he let them do whatever they wanted inside the car. I got the car detailed and cleaned but I noticed that the centre console doors towards the back don't open and close. When I press the open button it opens ever so slightly and when I press close I can feel that the spring is trying to close the door but nothing happens.

View 10 RepliesHow can I manually open the rear hatch in my 2004 passat w8 wagon? When I got the car it would not open with the remote, but it would unlock with the key. Wife went to the store and the hatch wouldn't unlock. Key just turns. Feels like it is not quite catching to open up the lock.
This has now caused the doors to not lock and windows to not roll down, and no interior lights. Keeps blowing fuse 14. So how do I get I the lock mechanism on the hatch to get it open? Bentley is on the way, but can't be here soon enough.
On my 04 'reg the rear hatch stopped operating suddenly. I tried the manual release etc and no go. I can hear the mechanism activate when I push on the hatch mounted release (sounds normal) but the door will not budge.

View 4 RepliesMy wife's 2010 RX350 wouldn't start this morning. My guess is that the battery drained overnight with the back door ajar. After getting it started with a battery jump the rear hatch would not open by hand, the dash button or the key button. After driving and charging the battery the hatch would open. I'd this to be expected or an indication that perhaps the hatch has a fault?
