The power rear door to my wife's rx350 is stuck, mainly because there is a thick strap stuck in between the door. Pressing the power door open button won't work or even trying to use the manual button above the rear license plate. I can't even pull the strap out since it's jammed in there pretty tight. How to get the door working again?
View 10 RepliesEvery so often my rear cargo door handle is impossible to open. I can hear the lock mechanism lock/unlock but the handle won't compress to open the door. I had a mechanic get in it the other day by removing the inside panel. He states I need a new cable assembly. I have ordered one using our discount from Sewell. I have since come across a TSB about the actuator being an issue. I'm assuming my mechanic would know the difference. He said the cable is stretched and it makes the handle travel too far to engage. I'll try the cable at $35 delivered before the whole mechanism for $250 delivered.
View 8 RepliesMy rear driver-side door's lock just stopped functioning. It is in the locked position and I can't put it in the unlocked position using the key or manually (and I've tried using a LOT of force). The door itself is actually not locked. When I lock and unlock the doors, all the other doors work fine, and the broken one tries to lock and unlock, but it is stuck hard in it's position. But, the door stays unlocked under all circumstances.
View 3 RepliesI just bought a 2010 RX450h and it is in overall great condition. The leather is damage though on the Rear Driver side door panel, so I am trying to remove it and get it repaired. I have removed 3 screws :
-one behind the door open/close latch
-one under the wood/window switch
-one in the handle area to pull door and close
I am now trying to take the panel off and have the bottom part pulled off. But I can't seem to pry open the top part... Am I missing something or a screw? Is there some trick? I am scared to break it.
When opening Power Rear Door , the door will open then immediately close . After going through this initial opening, the second attempt will open properly & close only when Power Door Button is depressed. Recently had some engine work done by Dealer & wondering if door settings may have been disturbed. 2005 RX330
View 11 RepliesMy family picked up a 2007 with about 150k on it. All maintenance has been performed at the dealer up to this point which is great. I have noticed two problems thus far:
-The rear power door will open all the way, but when it reaches the top it will close on its own again.
-The CD changer is dead I'm pretty sure. I did a quick google and I couldn't find a fix for it.
It is non-hid and non-nav, but I plan on doing a crazy retrofit on the headlights this winter. I never researched too much into this model since I am an ES guy, so I am trying to think of accessories I could put on that are still around. It is the Bamboo Pearl, which I knew had a few issues,. but the previous owner already had them repainted properly. This color is hard to do much with IMO. I know I want to get the chrome door handle covers as well.
I have a UK right-hand drive Prius gen 2 2006 T4 model.
My rear door on the driver's side won't unlock. it appears to be stuck in double locked mode. It cant be unlocked manually from inside the car and the lock button just springs back to lock position (as you'd expect it to do when in double lock mode).
I can lock/unlock the car other 3 doors using the fob, I can lock/unlock the cars other 3 doors using the internal button on the driver's door.
I suspect there must be a failure of the lock motor or solenoid inside the door but I cant figure out how to get the door unlocked just so i can get the trim off and check. What the cause or remedy could be?
My rear seat cupholder is stuck close. I'm referring to the one in the armrest. I purchase truck about few weeks ago and haven't used the holder. Looking for info about removing the holder?
View 8 RepliesPut the driver side rear seat down and now it won't come back up. It feels as though the latch isn't connected yet I can see the cable wrapped on it still. Need to tear into it... do the backs of the seats pop off?

View 14 RepliesMy 2008 Rx 400h has nice blue"neon" lighted scuff plates. One of my rear plates is out . The dealer tells me that the whole scuff plate unit must be replaced and that it it simply not a matter of replacing a light. There is a lighted strip that apparently is the light source. Can replace the lights without replacing the whole sill of the door?
View 8 RepliesOur 2010 base model GX 460 was 'born' in November 2009 and purchased new in February 2010, but we never used the 120 VAC power outlet at the back of the cargo compartment by the rear door hinge. I was cleaning and swapping 'summer' floor mats for 'winter' mats and decided to see if the outlet works. The appended pictures prove it does produce 120 VAC .... actually, almost 124 VAC, but I have no way to test if it can supply 100 Watts, much less the waveform shape. Perhaps it could light a 100 Watt incandescent bulb, but nothing sensitive to supply line glitches!
View 2 RepliesAfter owning the truck for a little over a year I figure it's time to fix the little stuff staring off with the rear door. When pressing any of the 3 buttons to open/close it I get it to work 50% of the time. That being said, I can't pinpoint a specific bad part.
View 14 RepliesI just got a 2011 LX 570. The power rear door/tailgate opens just fine when pressing the button inside the car, or on the key fob. And closing it works fine as well from there as well as from the button on the door. However, when I press the larger "unlock" button on the tailgate itself, it does not open by itself. I have to manually open it.
I've read in a couple of places that this is a setting that the dealer must changed...IE to make that large unlock button also open the tailgate by itself instead of having to manually open it.
How to install the rear door glass chrome molding? Do I need any special instructions?
View 14 RepliesMy left rear door actuator motor has stopped working and I have read about the repair of just the electric motor, BUT has anyone found the replacement of the little electric motor, Lexus wants a fortune because they want to sell you everything, cables, latches, it all comes in one bundle for 250 or so--Jeez. So hoping someone has the part number or place that we can get these little motors and just replace that!
View 3 RepliesStrangely today my drivers side rear power door lock stopped working. Very annoying, can't unlock it electronically, and if its unlocked the rest of the car won't lock and the headlights won't go off.
I have to put it in anyways for the airbag seat rail TSB, but I was going to wait until my 40k service was due. This is too annoying to wait on since I put my briefcase and hang up my suit jacket in that seat...
I have a 2007 golf 1.4, the rear door handle doesn't seem to be working and the child lock is enabled. I have been looking online and have struggled to find an answer for the mk6 golf.
- Tried so far- Standing there for about 5-10 minutes locking and unlocking the car while trying the handle
- Tried putting something down the side of the handle but either the coat hanger end is too fat or there isn't a gap like the mk 4/5's
- Tried hitting the handle bit where your thumb would be and just below there with a rubber mallet
Still no joy. The handle feels different from the other side which works so i am guessing the cables not attached to the catch behind.
Experienced the cargo door got stuck after rain? I have started to notice it and realized that it was after it got wet in the rain. It makes the electronic noise trying to open, but takes about 5-10 tries to get it open.
Also, is it impossible to make the cargo door electronically open/close like many other car models? I hurt my shoulder, and it is very hard sometimes to reach up and close it.
A few days after having the rear window glass replaced now the rear door on my 07 Santa Fe will not open. I hear the electric motor locking/unlocking the mechanism but the handle won't open the gate.
I guess I will need to get to the locking mechanism but it seems to me that it will take a lot of work to get the rear panel off from inside the "trunk". Is this a somewhat common issue with the SF? Any way to get it fix.
Started with rear door would not lock/unlock with key, but worked fine manually. Troubleshot and found little motor (actuator) was bad. Reassembled door until new part arrives. Closed the door and know will not open from inside or outside. Managed to remove door panel but still no luck.
