I just noticed this happening recently. My passenger side mirror looks like it is peeling. The part that "peeled off", no longer auto dims, while the 90% of the mirror still has dimming. But it looks ugly as heck.
View 9 RepliesOn my 2005 GX, the passenger side mirror can move only left to right (horizontally) but it cannot go up or down. I did some reading and it looks like this is a 'common' problem with Lexus mirrors due to the auto tilt-down feature. Something inside must be worn out or broken and it does not move any more.
The driver side mirror moves fine in every direction, so i am pretty sure it's not a defective mirror switch. The question is.... since this is such a common problem, is there a fix for it, other than replacing the entire mirror assembly? Is there a "gear kit" or something else that i can buy, disassemble the mirror and fix it?

My 2008 460 has the damn peeling drip molding on the passenger side. I found a wrecked 07 gs of the same color in a local wrecking yard and I was wondering how hard it is to pull off the drip molding myself. Do I need any special service tools? Don't want to damage my car.
View 2 RepliesLately I've been having issues with my windows, door locks and power mirrors not working. Here are the symptoms;
What works;
Driver window Sunroof Key fob unlock/lock (Also all of the doors unlock when I open the door)
What does NOT work;
All passenger windows (they were working intermittently before but now none of them work) Door locks from any panel (Sometimes I can unlock the doors but can never lock them) Side view mirror controls
Seems like it could be a faulty ecu. Plan on removing the door this weekend to inspect everything.
The leather driver's side armrest, the one that you're able to adjust for driver's right arm, is peeling. The leather looks to have a treatment on it and is peeling off like a bad sunburn. The leather underneath is dull looking and i need to have it recovered. My gx is blizzard pearl and the interior is caramel color or ecru. It just looks awful and i keep it folded up so I don't have to look at it but I am not being able to rest my arm.
View 1 RepliesBacking out of garage this morning I brushed against the side and smashed a piece of plastic out of passenger side view mirror. Sent a picture to parts department of local Lexus dealer and quoted 304.80 for "special order" part + 300 for labor. This is an insane price for a non-functioning piece of plastic. Thoughts on best DIY way to proceed? I have the broken off plastic, but it does not sit flush in the assembly.

View 14 RepliesI just picked up a 2004 F150 FX4 Supercab, I had a safety inspection done and am working through some of the issues.
The turn signal indicator on the passenger side mirror is not working (front and rear indicators work). I took the mirror apart and get no voltage to the led array, next I pulled the rubber boot off of the harness in the door jam and probed the wires while with a test light and found one of the wires would blink the test lest light but the colour didn't match the the turn signal array, it matched the heated mirror wire. I probed at the heated mirror connector at the mirror and sure enough it blinks! Then I notice that the heated mirror indicator light on the center dash is blinking? I push the heated mirror button below the indicator light and ALL turn signals (front and rear) stop.
I searched the forum for mirror turn signal issues and found a thread about corroded wire splice below the fuse panel. I checked and have no splice all look ok so I thought I would post and see if I can get some direction or a schematic.
The symptoms are :
- Passenger side mirror turn signal(right turn) indicator does not work
- front and rear turn signal indicators work
- power seat works
- fuses are good
- drivers side all turn signals work fine
- heated mirror indicator light on the dash blinks with the passenger side turn signal
- pushing the heated mirror button when turn signals are flashing (right turn) results in a solid heated mirror indicator light but all other right turn signal indicator stop blinking (off)
It seems to me that there must be a short between the two circuits but where?
This triangular piece of trim adjacent to the side-view mirror on my 2004 Lexus RX330 has several "wrinkles" and other abnormal markings on the trim piece. This problem only appears on the passenger side. Also, there are a few of these wrinkles on the window pillars.
View 5 RepliesIt seems that someone hit my drivers side mirror on my 2004 gx and cracked the shell. The mirror works fine its just the outer plastic part is cracked. My question is i see on ebay some for sale but im not sure if they are glued together or clipped in. How to take off the cover and if so is it easy or not.
View 3 RepliesI notice that whenever I put the GX in reverse, the driver side view mirror doesn't come down all the way like the passenger side view mirror.
The driver side view mirror only tilt down half way and its bothering me. I try to play with it but its still behaving the same way. I read somewhere on a different thread where the dealer had to replace the motor...Hope that is not the case with me.

I just bought an RX 330 recently and the mirror on the driver side is not working. Not even when I tried to do some minor adjustment to the mirror before I drive the car. I do not hear any motor running or any sound when I push on the mirror adjustment button (and yes, I did put the switch to the left). So does this mean the motor that controlling the mirror is out...or dead? Do I need to replace the motor or the whole mirror--the motor and frames as well? If I do need to replace this, does it considered as a "mechanical break down" since it's the motor that is failing?

View 4 RepliesWhen I have the mirror tilt feature active for both mirrors(left switch position) the driver side mirror does not return to the preset position. The passenger side works fine but I have to manually reposition the driver side so I know it is not in the mechanism, it seems it is not sensing the transmission in drive but only on the driver side. How hard is it to replace the faulty sensor or whatever the failed part?

As I want to use the electrical mirrors to adjust my driver side mirror, passenger side mirror moves too. Is it possible that these faults caused by not coded ECU?
I connected ground wire of my LED to blue and black cable connected to the mirror and ran another wire from unit 10 in 16 pin door connector to live wire from my LED.
I am just curious about my passat side mirrors ... the passenger mirror is smaller then the driver side?

View 12 RepliesOver the weekend I was attempting to detail me car and install my HID Fogs when I noticed that the "Drip Molding" on the right side of my 07' GS350 was peeling. It looks almost like some type of thin cheap painted tape.

When I took it to Lexus of Cherry Hill, they told me that they were "puzzled" and that a service tech that has been there since 1989 has never seen this before. Asked if the car was involved in any accidents......
The car was purchased from a lease. All service records come from Lexus w/ a clean CarFax.
