View 14 RepliesHow to remove roof rack on 91 Aerostar? Google and search box here yielded no result so a new thread is likely in order. I have leaky roof. Not windows.

View 5 RepliesI have a new question regarding my Touareg. Recently my roof rack broke, a latch on one side of one of the crossbars broke almost off. The part that the key goes into and pulls away to release its hold to the roof was broken when trying to force it closed after adjusting the rack's position. Can this piece be replaced or does the rack have to be replaced?
View 6 RepliesIs it possible to install the OEM roof bars on a S? The VW Parts guy says no.
View 5 RepliesI've been using roof racks for years and despite the towers being padded, I always end up with some scratches and or 'outlines' of the tower pad left behind. On my new car I wanted to avoid this so I made up some pads from paint protection film. They're practically invisible when the rack is off the car. I was really happy with the way they turned out so I'm thinking of producing them in quantity but would like some feedback first. I use a Yak rack but the pads would be made large enough to accommodate just about any of the popular roof systems available.
View 8 RepliesI bought my treg a couple of months ago and it came with the stock roof rack. I never thought anything of it, since I barely use it. But the other day I wanted to see what it looks like if i separated the rack. It looks like it takes a key to unlock it, i thought it was the cars ignition key but it's not. How I could unlock it or get a key to do this?
View 4 RepliesWould a Yakima 44" Fairing fit on the OEM roof rack? And are there any simple mods to get rid of the wind noise from the roof rack?
View 1 RepliesJust got a mild lift done on my Ex and still wanting to park it in the garage.
If I remove the useless rails and cross bars that looks like it's still a possibility.
What to fill the holes with? Just torx screws? Anything else I need to do to prevent water leakage?
In preparing for my end of lease inspection, I mounted my '04 roof racks back on my Treg, and a few days later, I noticed this very loud hmmm/vibration, sounding almost like a steady fog horn, coming from behind me. It lasted about ten seconds, and at first, all I could think of was "that is not us! Until a few minutes later, when it recurred, and I realized that it was probably going to be speed dependent. I eventually realized that the one thing that was different since the prior week was that I put the racks back on the car. When I installed them, I dropped them into their recessed slots, and slid them back to the rear, where I think they are supposed to make the least noise.
Well, not anymore. I think I have to either slide one forward, say to the next detent in the tracks, or get the dealer to back the X3 up better. I think I will slide the forward rack up some, or take them both out for the last month of the lease.
Driving my V10 at around 140 km/hr (87 mph) along the highway and passing a truck (in a tunnel), all of a sudden there was a violent vibration from the roof rack. It seems like it went into its resonance frequency because as soon as I slowed down it went away, and didn't reappear again.
View 2 RepliesVibration coming from either the roof rack or rear of the vehicle? I seem to get it in cold weather sometimes or when I accelerate from between 40 and about 60 mph. I have checked to see if the roof rack needs tightening but it looks good. Of course, every time I bring in for service, guess what, they cannot replicate the sound.
View 8 RepliesI've seen a lot of off road racks mounted into rain gutters or the side of jeeps and whatnot, but can I just use the factory rails? Which way is better? The idea would be to remove the factory cross bars, and saddle up the custom rack in the rails that came with the vehicle.
Also, as far as weight is concerned the rack is going to be about 112" x 52" with a custom light bar in the front. The rack itself is going to weigh about 120-160 lbs. 1" square aluminum tubing., with 1 and 1/4 inch base, about 16-18" tall in the back, 10" in the front
I would like to be able to use a ladder and get up on it myself (200lbs), but I have a feeling this might be too much weight. me+sparetire+rack = fail?????
I know the rack itself can handle it I can jump up and down on it on the floor, but x roof is going to hold up or buckle?
Just took my 2007 GX-470 with 133,000 miles in for an oil change and the tech told me that my rack assembly is leaking and needs to be replaced to the tune of a little over $1000.
Is this something fairly common? I haven't been able to find a whole lot of information on this forum pointing to problem with GXs..
I was replacing the oil in the transfer case and came across this under the passenger side. Power steering rack seems to be leaking through the rubber boot, but I have not noticed anything on the garage floor in recent months...
Can the boot itself be replaced? I hate to think the whole system needs to be replaced.
How to remove the roof rails? I'm planning on doing a Vinyl roof so need to get these things off!

View 2 RepliesHow is it possible that the 350 F-Sport can track cars that are possibly coming at you while you're backing up, but it can't alert you to when you're getting close to a wall or other car that is stationary (aka parking senors).. Although I did back into a space yesterday and got no beeps as the car got closer to the other cars in the camera.
Another thing is having radar assist cruise control and no front parking assist... what's up with this craziness? The systems are actually installed in the car, but not able to beep at you?!
How can i remove the rear roof dome light fixture. ...
View 1 RepliesMy 07 Prius is leaking transaxel fluid into the inverter cooling system. Transaxel fluid is sweating through the inverter coolant hoses. Before my taking ownership of this vehicle, it had previously been in a front end collision (that’s a whole other story). Anyhow – if I replace the radiator, should that take care of this problem? Are there any other ways these two cooling fluids could become cross contaminated?
