Thought it was another AC flap that is playing up but it was the small plastic flap next to the tyre that was giving me the headache.
Still, could not find the rattle at the rear which i think is caused by the underfloor storage compartments. Thats for another day.
I picked up my car from the dealer today and driving home once I hit over 70 on the interstate the car started making a slight noise. It sounds like a piece of cardboard sort of flapping in the wind. It feels like it is coming from the engine bay around the level of the accelerator. What it might be?
I popped the hood and nothing was left inside that I can see. The only thing that seems loose is just the induction scoop. It looks like on the side there should be a clamp or something to hold it in place, but it moves freely. I can't find any good stock shots to see if there should be something.
I have an 04 rx 330 with air suspension. The swaybar end links have just been replaced on the front and a rattling noise persists.
The noise happens over large and small bumps at high and low speeds at normal and low vehicle height. When the height is at "HI" the noise is louder and it feels as though the front end is shaking loose over bumps at 10 km/h+.
I took it in and was advised to replace the end links, they did so and returned it claiming the noise was gone. The air compressor and struts are in working condition.
I have done a search through the forum, not extensive... I was wondering which other components come loose/wear and cause a clunk/rattle/shudder noise.
Also, tires are new and at approx. 32-34 psi.
I recently turned on my AC and heard a "flapping" noise from the cabin air circulating fan blade. After a minute or so, noise gradually subsided. Two days later, I turned on the AC and a smell most foul filled the cabin. Being a farm boy, I know the odor of ripe dead animal and I'm guessing a mouse. Is there any reasonable way to gain access to the area where the fan is so I can attempt a clean-up?
View 4 RepliesI have a 2004 F150 XLT super crew cab. I bought this used with around 99,000 miles on it. There is a plastic / rubber two piece cowl panel between the hood and the windshield. There are little rubber type material tabs on the outer edge between the fender and the cowl panel. They are there on my truck but they have started to come off. I have noticed that when I get up to roughly 45MPH and over I get a flapping wind noise on the drivers side of the vehicle only. I thought it was that little rubber flap because it came off completely and the noise got a little worse. I super glued it back on but the noise is still the same.

View 1 RepliesAlright I did a search and found these threads with no final resolution on each. My new 2013 has the whistling noise at high speeds (65+) and high winds. It's for sure not from the engine and coming from both the driver and passenger mirrors. I can hear it with either or both front windows down but not back windows. No whistle at idle or due to high RPMs. What is the Jetta TSB # or a fix for this issue.

A very odd hum from the rear (2005 f150 4.2) that occurs at all speeds. Low speed it occurs regardless of load on the drive line. At higher speeds it only happens when i have considerable load on the drive line. All bearings in the diff were replaced less than a year ago when the main pinion bearing went and the diff gears were in pretty dam good condition. Wheel bearings are not getting warm to indicate a wheel bearing. And when i let off the throttle it hums for a few seconds and dissipates as the tension on the drive line goes away. I even looked at the carrier bearing assy and it seems to be in good working order. I live pretty dam far from any type of service so i was just curious before i start trying to trouble shoot this any further.

View 14 RepliesI have a 4-cyl 2003 Camry LE with a bit of a vibration issue, but first, some backstory.
I put in new tires about 20,000 miles back and I started to notice a pull to the left side and no amount f alignment would fix it and there was no other discernible issue with the front end.
I read about how some tires have some internal issues with the radial belts and I decided to rotate the tires. No more pull. It didn't change the fact that the tire may be defective and still causing issues.
Could a tire that caused a strong pull on the front end cause a vibration at high speeds in the rear?
Got my tires swapped out and noticed a whining sound coming from the rear of the car when I release throttle >40mph. Applying throttle it goes away. Soundalike it's coming from the driveline. Does the Haldex make a whining. It's loader than I would expect. Believe the roar of my winter tires covered it up.

View 6 RepliesI've noticed a few times now on my wife's car when I am driving it around 80 mph there is a some-time flapping or low-thumping noise from underneath the car. It only happens up around 80 mph. My wife says it's a feature to let me know to slow down . I originally thought maybe I had a plastic bag trapped under the car or some loose trim but looking underneath hasn't turned up anything. The only other thing I can think of is maybe it's just a strange aerodynamic quirk of the car that causes the noise.

Similar sound at lower volume when the shock/spring is depressed (pushing down on that corner of the car). Louder at low speeds.

I noticed it a little after driving for days on very snowy/slushy/gritty roads where I had to plow some parking spots with my little 2013 C3. Tonight I was driving into Vancouver and back at 100+kph and noticed like a whirring sound or like a higher pitched humming sound possibly from drivers side front tire?? A little vibration felt through the wheel.
View 7 RepliesMy girlfriend has a 2008 with around 120k miles on it. It's been pretty flawless but yesterday the RPMs started surging while idle and made kind of a high pitch humming noise when accelerating.
Today on her way to work she said the radio was going in and out, the battery light lit up and then the rest of the dash lights came on, and the speedometer stopped working.
What could be the problem? Could it just be the battery?
I test drove the sc 430 the other day, I found it very smooth and very soft ride. I noticed that when I accelerate the car feels heavy as if it lacks the torque. Is this normal?
Also, the steering felt loose at high speeds above 60mph. Is this normal?
Today I was at a light, stopped with brakes on. Heard weird loud flapping noise like when you put a playing card against spokes of a bicycle. Smoke appeared. No warning lights so I thought it was the car ahead of me - especially since the noise stopped when I pressed the gas. Drove 11 miles home, 9 of them uphill. No problems. Parked for about an hour. Then drove about 4 miles and was again stopped, again the noise (not so loud this time) and some smoke from under the hood. I was right next to a gas station, pulled in and very nice attendant checked fluids, etc. No problems found. He spilled a bit of antifreeze when checking the radiator level. I then drove straight to a Honda dealer. They have proclaimed it a broken radiator on the basis of a brief exam and a sighting of a bit of antifreeze. No leaks anyplace, car was no overheating, the vehicle has less than 50 thousand miles and is regularly maintained.
