I'm having an issue where when the fan is set to the lower fan speeds it will make a high pitched, harmonic chirping noise. I've isolated it to the operation of the fan, so I know it's something to do with the HVAC stuff.
View 2 RepliesI have an 04 dodge ram. I have recently encountered a chirping noise at low speed (it may be there at higher speed, but I can't hear it over the engine). It sounds like rubber, rubbing against itself or birds underneath the truck. The noise speeds up and gets a bit louder as I accelerate. The sound generally goes away or I can't hear it after 25-30 mph. This only happens when in motion, so I don't think it's the belts. I've read a number of things from CV Joints to Bushings and not sure if it's either.

View 6 RepliesSo from reading around a lot, it seems like the chirping is from the belt tensioner or idler pulley. That said, I've not been able to find anything definitive. I tried to do the water bottle squirt test (from Gates' youtube video) and either I did it wrong or the chirp did not go away implying the issue is not the belt. While I was looking in, I could see the tensioner shaking some.
If my tensioner should not be moving, do I just need the pulley or the pulley and the mount?

Chirping gets worse as it heats up. Seems to happen independent of ambient temperature. Purchased a year ago so unsure of the history of part changes.
I bought a used 2014 F-sport and I took it to the dealer since the brakes are making the screech noise on low speed cold stops. The dealership stated that the brakes and rotors are all aftermarket and won't touch them.
My question (from searching and reading) is, any aftermarket rotors for the F-Sport RWD?
My throw out bearing makes a faint chirping noise since I bought the car, but now that the weather has been in teens, it seems to be louder.
I was wondering if it is possible to grease the throw out bearing or something without dropping the transmission.
It's darn cold in many parts of the east. -4 this morning. Anyway, driving to work today, I had my heater on about halfpower, and about 30 min. into my commute, the air vent began making a bubbling, chirping sort of noise. I turned it off until I got to work. When I parked, I turned it back on, and it was making a very loud, straining noise.
It's a 2009 Pontiac Vibe (Toyota Matrix twin)...
I have a 2012 3.5 eco boost. It has 82,000 miles. I just purchased a large travel trailer. That is the first thing I have ever towed. When I was accelerating onto the interstate the engine started making a chirping noise.( not the normal turbo whistle). It went away when the rpms came down, and now every time I accelerate, it makes the same noise around 2000-2500 under load.
View 6 Repliesmy 1992 960 wagon with 332K miles today started making a moaning noise when making a significant turn at low speed. At first it seemed to be only when I was accelerating but if that was true, it now is doing it at any low-speed big turn. Tonight, turning around in the driveway, it added what I call juddering during the turn. So naturally I am concerned.If it is something as minor as power steering fluid I might trust a local gas station to fill it up, but probably not any more than that. (There used to be a dealer about 45" away, but they seem to be gone now, and the closest one is hours away. I am 250 miles and one week away from my own trusted mechanic, so I hope it is something like fluid!).I haven't noticed any puddles on the driveway where it is parked, but I suppose it could leak out only when the engine is on and the car is moving.
View 4 Replies2008 ES350 with 170k miles. My wife drives the car almost exclusively but we went on a road trip and I had the opportunity to drive it for a few hours.
I noticed at idle there is a chirping sounds from the belt area like it could be a water pump or another pulley going out.
Other data points:
At speeds over 80mph I feed a vibration in the steering wheel. we are 1k over getting the tires rotated so that may clear this issue up.
low speed in a parking lot I had the wheel at full lock turning and it felt like it "slipped" and it made a noise. This made me think the power steering pump could be what is going out.
I need to check the fluid levels tonight and see if either is leaking ( there is nothing on the garage floor)
Are there any good DIY's for a waterpump or power steering pump replacement? Once I diagnose the problem I would like to fix it myself.
Are these common issues with the ES350?
I just hit 100k and I will be taking my 06' in for timing belt soon. I just noticed a weird winding up sound from the engine during idle and lower rpm, I can't hear it with the engine running on the road, except for slower speeds. Is that being a belt or tensioner or something? Also, I have heard a faint clicking sound at idle when I am in a drive through and the sound bounces off of the brick walls next to me. It's not a ticking exhaust leak, more of a click, is that a water pump?

New to the R, and recently the transmission seems to be making some noise throughout lower gears at low speeds, when the clutch is engaged the noise goes away, I figured it was the throwout bearing, but now my transmission now refuses to let me into 2nd gear and also reverse.
I changed the transmission fluid hoping it would eliminate the noise a bit, and saw very small metal shavings in the old fluid. I'm now worried I have a serious transmission issue... Are these signs of major transmission issues or should I be checking linkage? Any common transmission problems with the R I might be experiencing?
My 04 GX has about 113k on it and the A/C clutch is shot, making a ton of grinding noise when its engaged (when the A/C is on).
Need to repair or replace there unit because of this? I see online the ability to buy just the clutch pack for the A/C compressor. However Lexus and other sites want to sell me the whole A/C compressor.
Question being, can I get away with buying the clutch pack and installing it onto my OEM a/c compressor? Or do I buy a new compressor?
So I was driving my wife to dinner the other night, it was about 30* F out and the mirror started making a clicking noise (of course, I had no clue it was the mirror until I stopped and looked around). Sure enough, the mirror was clicking and the display was going back and forth between the "188" (the start-up display) and "NW" or "W" or whatever direction we were traveling in.
Obviously the clicking noise is a relay.
'05 Gx470 w/ 93k mi. Time for new parts for all orig. frt. suspension? Started having "Clunking" up frt. Assume time for new shocks all around. Also, grease from upper ball joints half-way down steering knuckle arm, so probably dry? Thinking of replacing everything up frt. incl. hub bearings while have all apart and be done w/ it. Notice in FSM that this means replacing both upper and lower control arms that come w/ bushings and ball joints installed. Parts very pricey even w/ discounts ( 27% at myLparts), somewhere around $3,500 +/-, incl. rr. shocks. Rather cry once and hopefully get get another 90K +/- mi. w/o problems. I've always gone w/ OEM parts in past and probably paid the price, but since I'm doing all the work, hopefully evens out in long run.

View 2 RepliesTrying to load the CD ... I put in 6 discs I've tried them label up, label down, Compact Disc Digital Audio, and regular CD-RI hear the changer making noise when installed. The system won't play the CDs. It just says "No CD" At one point it put up a "Bluetooth connectivity problem" message. The rest of nav sys seems to work. 2005 Nav Sys Factory Changer. I've never used it and just got the car.
View 8 RepliesI have an 08 explorer 4x4 with 90k. I have a front end grinding noise. Noise is loudest at lower speeds and doesn't change with braking or turning. I have read that tires could cause this. I have the spare tire and rim on the front at the moment until I can afford a new tire. My other tires are all pretty new... And the spare is a different size rim but a brand new different brand tire. I'm going to check for play in the bearings tonight and maybe swap the spare to the rear .
View 4 RepliesThere's been a recent annoyance that's appeared in my '03 SC 430 with 32K miles. I've noticed over the last 3 months that whenever I have the A/C turned on, after a few minutes, a soft chirping sound appears. It sounds very much like a cricket chirp to be exact, kind of high pitched, but continuous. It's even loud enough to hear over my music.
I realized that it came from the A/C because it was gone whenever I turned the A/C off. I initially thought it might be from the belts for the A/C compressor, but I couldn't hear anything from the under the hood with the A/C turned on. I'm thinking it might be something to do with how the coolant flows in the lines, but can't be sure.
I'll probably have it looked at during my next oil change.
Getting a chirping noise from the engine? It started happening yesterday but quickly went away. Today it's been happening more. It seems to be coming from something that looks like a metal bowl on both sides of the engine. I took it to the dealer once but it wasn't making the noise when it got there so nothing they could do about it. I'll try to get a picture tomorrow when its light outside.
