My car is running great, no issues. I just changed the ignition coils, i was having a misfire. It was easier since i was changing the back to replace them all. My CEL and VSC went on and it is code P0430 bank 2. Before i spend a ton on a new catalytic converter i would like to change the o2 sensors. Problem is, I am not sure which ones to change or where to start. Is this even something i am able to do?

Took it dealership for estimate or fix.

So I am waiting thinking ok let be one of the above causes or fixes that is cheap.
I got a P0430 code. My fuel trims are over 20% on both banks. A few days back I got a P0174 code but after disconnecting the battery it cleared and hasn't come back. Are these codes related in any way?
I'm a bit confused because I removed both cats and put O2 spacers in on both sides. I never get a P0420 code. Is one of the spacers not working correctly? I sent Toyota an email about the 430 code and they want to know which of the cats were removed - front or back. I didn't even there were front AND back ones! I thought there were just 2 side by side.
When I analyze the O2 readings on Torque they look pretty similar for both banks although I admit I'm not the best person to judge. Both rear O2 sensors are fairly new.
Unfortunately living in the middle of Africa I can't get hold of a smoke machine. I'd love to look for a vacuum leak, as from what I've read about the subject this might well be the cause of my problems.
One mechanic wants to put a new fuel pump in but I'd like to postpone that because it's a pricey item.
Just read that a clogged EGR valve is common and reduced performance and increases emissions. Need to clean this valve? Where is it located?? Just noticed tonight that there is not a lot of suction from my vacuum lines and I wondered if this is related. Plus I have a p0430.

I had the P0430 code come up in my 06 GS300 AWD so i changed both passenger side 02 sensors. i followed the above instructions on changing the pre-cat sensor, changed my 02 sensor plugged everything back up and the P/S light came on and i lost power steering. I unplugged and checked everything at least 10 times until i finally gave up and gave it to lexus today. been about a week though driving without power steering. I know I did everything right and plugged everything snug. Did my P/S just decide to die?

But I'm still reading zero voltage!! How could I still be getting zero voltage?? I checked the connections and they are firm. Checked every single fuse in car.
After my recent accident, the center console lights don't illuminate. My nav door doesn't close too. Could these all be related?? The connector for the O2 sensor is right next to the console, so maybe there is a loose connection or plug or perhaps a stray ground?? I do have wires all over the place in under the shifter bezel from aftermarket stuff..

My 2009 Camry came down with the p0157 code which I looked up & is oxygen sensor circuit, low voltage bank 2 sensor 2. I'm trying to figure out which side this is(driver or passenger)? Also have a p0430 code-catalyst system efficiency below threshold.

View 2 RepliesI recently purchased a used, high mileage 2004 Infiniti G35x (AWD) 145K miles from a reputable new car dealer here in my town. The car was impeccably maintained and clean inside and out. Just a week or two after the purchase my SES light came on revealing engine Code: P0430 (catalyst efficiency below threshold bank 2) pointing to a new catalytic converter in my future. Infiniti recommends premium unleaded for this vehicle. I found out my son filled her up with mid-grade unleaded. Is there any chance this could have triggered the SES light to come on? (Previous owner states he always used premium unleaded in the vehicle since ownership.) I also double checked the gas cap to make sure it was on tight. I find it extremely odd that the SES light would come on so shortly after the purchase. I mean what are the odds? Don't dealers run a diagnostic scan of their trade-ins to check history and for potential problems prior to selling their used cars? I test drove this car numerous times without any indication of a problem and right on the heels of the purchase it passed state emissions... now just a few days later, the SES light comes on. Why wouldn't emissions pick that up? I have reset the SES light (code) and filled her up with premium unleaded. Now it's a waiting game to see if the light comes on again. If the light reappears, I plan on taking it back to the dealer to work out some kind of "reasonable solution" to repair costs. I'll find out just how willing he is to stand behind his cars. I realize that this is a high mileage car, and I hardly expect perfection, but I didn't see this coming. What to do... what to do... By the way, I checked all the fluid levels ... no discoloration in the oil (fresh, golden brown)... no discoloration in the coolant... transmission fluid, good... all other levels are good. Car runs fine, no rough idle in cold...

Well, we're into the winter here in New York and the code popped up again and after a week its still on. What's causing this and are there any easy fixes? The wife loves the SUV, its got 120,000 miles on her, the engine is strong and the tranny was rebuilt this summer (that another story).

Still getting a P0430 code (bank 2 cat efficiency low)
Following the Repair manual troubleshooting of that code says
Read H02S - got a scan tool and did that -
Comparing Bank 1 H02S1 and 2 show they are are different voltages and do not follow.
Comparing Bank 2 H02S1 and 2 show nearly identical traces.
I also checked the wiring harness around the sensors and check for air leaks...couldn't hear/see/feel any.
My conclusion based on the info obtained is that the bank 2 cat is bad and needs to be replaced.
It came on 2-3 miles after a cold start. 3.6 with 137,000 miles. What's next? First car I've owned that uses very little oil between oil changes.

Having trouble on cold starts, takes about 10 minutes to finally get it to turn over. When it does the idle is extremely rough. For the first 1/4 mile the car bucks, stutters, and misfires. After that it runs fine and starts fine when already warm. I am noticing slightly decreased gas mileage but nothing major.
Valve cover gaskets were replaced 2 months ago, but were leaking oil for at least a year before I could afford to have them replaced. I am still noticing some oil leakage, however not as much as before. I have had both O2 sensors replaced twice in the past 5 years. Timing belt was replaced at 98k. What might be causing the starting issues?
1997 F150, 4.2L V6 200k miles. Truck has been running fine. No CEL, or anything. Stopped and filled up the tank and within 10 minutes of leaving the pump, the CEL came on. Code is P0430.
I drive this truck 60 miles a day. It's shown no signs of any issues until the light came on today. Just curious if some bad gas could cause this or am I in for CAT replacement...
A few weeks back I got my ARK exhaust installed with no problems. Due to some personal reasons I had it removed and my stock exhaust reinstalled by a different shop over this past weekend. I've been driving it fine for the past few days but today I noticed the CEL on with codes P0420 and P0430. I hit up the shop to see what was up and he told me he didn't touch anything that should have caused this. What should I do....
View 3 RepliesWe bought the 2010 RX350 a couple of weeks ago and have gotten these codes twice.. I have a good scanner and know what the codes say about Cat's bank 1 and 2 operating below threshold. I know some of you are going to say replace the cat's, others are going to say replace the sensors and neither should be the problem... If it were a cat or sensor, then they would not come in at the identical same time... It has to be something common such as a throttle body, charcoal canister, or another item upstream of the cat's... Not the gas cap either...Maybe a vacuum hose..
View 14 RepliesHave the EML on on my GS450h, read the fault codes and I have 2 fault codes that are identical (P0430). I cleared the fault codes and it stays off for a day, then as soon as I go above 60mph the next day, it comes back on again, the faults are stored and not current codes. I've not noticed any MPG loss or loss of power whatsoever! So am I safe to assume its not the catalysts? Only other thing I could think of is an o2 sensor gone bad perhaps? I don't want to spend money really as I'm about to sell the car for a more economical one for my 150miles per day commute to work! Just had all 4 wheels refurbished too which set me back a fair amount, now this!
View 2 RepliesMy 2004 Lexus RX 330 with 116,000 miles has a check engine light on. The code was P2198, the problem: Bank2 Sensor1. I replaced the O2 sensor myself, easy, at $180. I erased the code and the check engine was back on the next day. Not sure what to do next.
View 9 RepliesMy A/C seems to be not working. Auto mode has fan blowing but only hot air coming out and the A/C light is blinking. Did some searching and performed diag and returned codes 21 & 24. Code 21 due to performing test at night. Have not been able to find reason for code 24.
