Situation: In automatic, coming off say a highway in the 30 to 50 km's (20 mph) range and then trying to accelerate quickly but there is a 1-2 second pause/delay/lag before it kicks in and launches.
It is not 100% consistent but it happens often enough to bother me.
Experience with this issue? What is the cause and is there a fix?
2003 Explorer Sport Trac... The air bag light initially flashes once, pause, twice, longer pause, repeat. I think that is LFC (light flash code) 12. What it means and a possible solution?
View 2 RepliesMy 2003 Xterra has been a great car. Few problems until last year I had to have the timing belt replaced (at 120,000 miles no biggie), the day that I got back from Iraq. Well everything has been great since then until a couple of weeks ago I started noticing some acceleration problems. When I press on the accelerator, especially when the car is cold, it will rev, pause, then resume normal accleration. I would like to point out that the whole car pauses, not just the reving. Mechanics seemed stumped and I would rather know what to tell them to do rather than let them dig around and charge me a bunch.
View 1 RepliesOn highway, at higher speeds (50-70), I notice that the vehicle's acceleration will pause and the rpms will bounce a bit. Best description I can give is that it feels as if someone were constantly pinching and releasing the gas line. Short revvv...revvv...revvv. The vehicle doesn't lose power. I get where I am going. And it only occurs up at these higher speeds.

View 13 RepliesI have a 2015 with 10k miles on it and every once and a while, when I come to a complete stop and shift into reverse, I take my foot off of the brake pedal and the car will sit there for up to 5 seconds. Then, it kicks in and starts rolling backwards. This has happened 6 times now. Giving it gas doesn't seem to work along. I took it to the dealer today for it's 10k service, and they cannot find anything wrong with it. There are no codes in the computer, the fluid is where it should be, and they think the Neuspeed Power Module has something to do with it. I told them it happened before I installed that piece. I can assure you I am not racing in reverse.
View 7 RepliesIt seems to me that the RCF is very poor at downshifting. I have owned the car for around 4 months now. If I am cruising along at around 30 to 40 mph and really push the pedal to the floor it honest to God sometimes seems to take a full 2 seconds to respond. It pauses, then downshifts and picks up a little speed, and then it finally goes. It drives me crazy! If I am already in a lower gear and punch it, it goes immediately.

View 14 RepliesI've recently started a job with a long commute and I've started listening to audiobooks on CD. What is the best way to pause the recording when you turn off the car? If I take the CD out, it loses my place in the book. I'm not sure if it's safe to just shut the car off and leave the CD inside the player. Or if I should pause it and turn it off?
View 4 RepliesI have a 2013 GS Luxury. My wife's work number has an extension associated with it and I need the stored phone number to have a few second pause between the dialing of the phone number's 10 digits and then dialing the 2-digit extension.
Although the number that is transferred from the phone contains a pause (and it works when dialed directly from the phone), when I dial from the number stored in the NAV system the pause does not work. Is there a special character that the system recognizes as a pause or other way to program in a "pause"?
I have just become a proud owner of a gs450h 2006. So far i love it. Just one thing i wanna clear up for peace of mind. It is a cvt gearbox and when i floor it there is a brief pause in power at 70mph ish. Then it flies full power the kw gauge goes all way but a lot faster than the acceleration previous to the flat spot. Its like it changes gear at 70 and hits a massive powerband but id like that to be instant and sooner.
Hybrid passed all tests last week at lexus.
I drive a 2010 Golf GTI 6 dsg and its has some performance problems - it is the not responsive huge delay in acceleration sometimes doesn't even push out the turbo, just gives me a high raw with low output. Even at robots its take a while to respond after I have put my foot down? I have taken it back to the dealership and they tell me everything is fine - they changed the DV valves and upgraded the software but the wheels are more powerfull and the output is still low.

View 2 RepliesI changed both fuel filters on my 2015 F350 6.7 I turn the key online for 30 seconds then turned it off for total of 6 times when to start the truck this morning after driving it yesterday and it took a little bit longer to turn over before it finally did, did I miss something up that I do something wrong. So I let my truck warm up this morning after going to start it at took a little bit longer for it to turn over I turned it off wait a few seconds then turned it back on and she started up how she used to perfectly fine does it just need to go through a drive cycle. This is the second fuel filter replacement nothing was wrong with the other ones I'm at 40000 miles now ... also it seems like the fuel filter on the frame rail is louder if you put the filter in upside down on that will it fit stupid question I'm sure I did it right but thought I'd ask before I tear it apart....
View 14 RepliesI am a first time owner of a 2015 VW Golf TSI and TDI, previously drove an Acura RSX.
I am noticing on both cars, more so in the TSI, that off a dead stop, when I push the gas pedal there is a hesitation/acceleration delay that I am not used to.
Is this normal? I just want to make sure that nothing is wrong with my cars as I am not well versed in this stuff.
Also, if it is normal, what is the cause behind this? and can it be modified to remove this lag?
2015 F-250 4X4 CC gas truck. 6R140 Transmission..
My truck has 6500 miles on it and since day one when I put my shifter in (D) there is a 3-4 sec delay in the transmission to engage every morning when I start out, rest of the time there is no delay even when the truck sits all day at work (about 9 hours). I have read in 2011 (?) that the transmission was loosening it's prime and would cause this problem, so how it's got me thinking.
I currently own a Toyota Corolla VVTI 1.8 2009 GLI. I have been racing this car here at our auto drome for over a year. Last race it starting giving me real bad issues with shifting on the track. I can be a 5,900 RPM and shift to a higher gear and the car will choke and drown and it takes forever to recognize I'm accelerating. I know this is because of the computer and the electronic accelerator it comes with ( I can't remember it's name in English). My gas pedal is Denso and I understand there is an adaption that can be done to the cable to trick the computer.
View 14 RepliesI've been noticing over the past couple years that sometimes when I accelerate, there's a slight delay between the time I press my foot down on the pedal and when acceleration actually happens. From reading other threads it would seem that the most common fix is to re-flash the ECU. I bought a DiabloSport Predator tuner along with a CAI a while back to improve performance/gas mileage and I was wondering if there's a way I can use the tuner to re-flash.
If not, do most ford repair shops already carry these? I don't want to buy a flash programmer. Also, if the shop does carry this type of an item, what is the average cost to get it re-flashed?
I own an '04 F150 XLT 5.4l.
The lexus sc430 is nice but when I floor it , there is a 2-3 second delay until she kicks down and really takes off. Someone said there is actually an adjustment on the transmission to eliminate this delay. Never heard of such a thing.
View 3 RepliesI have recently purchased a 2007 Lexus and just starting having a problem when trying to accelerate when I first start to car and try to move forward.
Basically I put the car in drive accelerate, the RPM is high but the car moves at a snails pace of at all.
I have a 02, sc430. Modded with blitz supercharged and straight exhaust all the way..( accept the 2 catalytic converter before the o2 sensor.) But I have slight delay or lag during the first gear. From (rpm) 1k to 4k its delay or lag.(not revving smooth). But when its reach 4k and above, the power just kicks in suddenly.
