how to use the steptronic on the RC , it's going to shift by itself or i had to press the shifted pedal to bring up the gear , before i had a BMW so usually it autoshift on DS mode , what about the shifting on the RC.
View 5 RepliesI have only driven my car a handful of times, but I noticed the past two times, that it sticks in 5th gear during the time that the oil temperature finally gets above the 1/4 mark until it finally settles.
It doesn't stick before reaching the quarter mark, and as far as I can tell, it doesn't stick in auto mode. This doesn't sound like something that should be normal, but what say you?
Driving in normal mode and the transmission in auto. Once the car gets up to temp, (usually at a stop), move the gear selector to manual mode. If you punch it, I have not issues shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, but sometimes, the up shift paddle will need to be hit multiple times in 2nd before the car will shift to 3rd.
It seems to only happen the first time I go from auto mode to manual mode during a drive cycle. It happens on my car and another car I test drove.
I was driving along today and my dash lit up light a Christmas tree. I got PCS, ABS, Brake and BSM lights and I was locked out of first gear in manual mode. Other than the lights and having to driving in auto mode, the car drove fine. When I got home I inspected the rear suspension and saw that the driver's side speed sensor's rubber shielding where it attaches to control arm was damaged. It was not completely severed, but there was a hole and some exposed copper wiring. I had SPC rear control arms and RSR coilovers installed and the car was lowered about 1.3 inches in rear. I was able to use extra copper wire and electrical tape to temporarily fix the problem. After all the wires where connected and shielded with electrical tape, I got zero lights when I started the car.
I'm not sure how it happened. Maybe the wire was damaged during install or it was pinched due to car being lowered. Whatever the case, make sure the wire is secured in a way to avoid being pinched during suspension travel. I ordered the new wire and will attempt to replace. Looks pretty straight forward except the wire goes into the interior of the car somewhere. I read that I will have to remove rear seats. If so, that should be pretty easy. Is there something I'm missing? Will any of the rear interior need to be removed? How to do this?
anyway to set it up so it always starts in S or S+ mode so I don't have to always remember to do it.

View 4 RepliesI now have 1025 miles on my SE with the 2.4L. I will admit that I drove the car very easy during the first 800 miles. The car has always wanted to shift into higher gears way too quick even in normal mode. I was told that the computer may have been "trained" to be being a conservative driver. I am not a speed racer, but I do not drive like I have nowhere to go either. I have tried driving a little more aggressively (holding down the throttle and making it shift around 2500-3000 rpm when I can), but it still has not worked. When I make a certain turn and up a hill, the car chugs up the hill until it finally decides to downshift into a lower gear and it will finally go. If in sport mode, it does fine. I cannot leave in sport mode however because I do a lot of freeway driving and it will not shift into overdrive in sport mode, at least my car don't which I find odd??
Another problem area is when I first start out, I go up a grade on a highway. I have to literally press the pedal down about 3/4 way to even get it to speed (55 mph) within a reasonable amount of time... it was only around 2300-2500 rpm and I was almost flooring it. I pressed down the pedal more and it finally kicked into a lower gear and hit up to 3300 rpm and finally took off. Something is not right and I am not happy with my brand new car that I paid almost $19,000 for. I enjoy driving my 1991 Cadillac more than I do this new car and it is a heck of a lot faster than my Hyundai. I do love the MPG I get with the Hyundai... around 31 mpg on average versus 19 mpg on the Caddy.
I just don't know what is going on with my car. I am wondering if I need to get the computer reset or something?
New Sonata owner. Got myself a 2015 Ultimate. Is there much difference in acceleration between "Sports Mode", and just running the car in manual mode (shiftronic)?
I know my Elantra used to have a huge acceleration bonus if I ran it in manual mode. Not sure if that caries true here.
i was just wondering if i can just drive around with my car in sport mode and not shift it?I just don't want to drive a around and mess anything up....

What exactly does this mean? (ie. poor performance, not full pwer?)

2016 IS300.
I've had it for 4 days now, and I've never had a brand new car so maybe this is a moot point. But the car simply feels heavy and sluggish. I'm at a little over 300 miles and the car just doesn't have much zip compared to my 2010 IS. Also, when I had the clear bra done at Lexus they gave me an identical loaner (2016 IS300 AWD) with around 800 miles and it felt totally different.
I remember with my 2010 reading that the car has to "learn" how you drive, etc. With my 2016 it'll go from a dead stop, them a couple of shifts in it drops to a super low gear. Even in sport mode it feels sluggish. In ECO mode... Well, lets just say that feels laughable.
Why was my loaner (which was identical to my new car) much zippier in the normal mode? Is this something I should be concerned about? The car runs fine, just no zip (yet).
We have a Tundra and several of my work vehicles that have the remote start that utilizes the stock key fob. Is there a way to do this in a 2015 IS 350 F Sport?
View 8 RepliesRecently I started driving on eco mode to have the smoothest ride/acceleration. However, yesterday I wanted to get my dose of sport mode and WOT, so I switched to sport mode and stepped on the gas and during a small curve I felt the car steering is stiffer than usual, so I thought it could be due to speed. After that I reduced my speed and tried switching between sport and eco back to back and the sport mode steering actually is stiffer and more responsive! . I was surprised because my car is not the F sport, it is the normal is350 with tech package, and Lexus didn't mention this when describing the sport mode.
View 14 RepliesI just traded in my 14 IS 350 for 13 GS 350. In my IS, while i'm driving at any speed and change mode from Normal to Sport, i can see the RPM change higher instantaneously. But in 13 GS 350, nothing happens in RPM gauge. Is the 6 and 8 transmission different here ?
View 14 RepliesI am feeling disappointed just came out of a lemon law suit with a kia optima I bought two years ago. I figured we'll I should buy a better brand this time which my brother recommended cause I was going to buy another Infiniti I always had good things with those cars. But the last 2 nights I have been hearing a squeaking noise in my rear end of my brand new IS 350 F Sport. Only in sport plus mode. I was driving home from work at 2 am and driving through a canyon road cause I want to see how this car does as soon as the road got a little bumpy I was hearing a squeaking noise come out of the rear of the car. Then I get home and I hear it going over my speed bumps in my complex of my condos. So I think we'll that's odd. I take it out of sport plus mode and back to eco and drive around the complex again and it goes away. Remind you I have 484 miles on the car.

View 4 RepliesI just bought my car a few weeks back in July. I noticed that the seats appeared to be hotter with the A/C on. It turned out, I was right. With the seat heaters OFF and A/C ON, the seats would get hot.

I have a 2015 IS 350 F-Sport with just under 9K miles. Occasionally, the car takes a little longer to start with a few more cranks. I've never had to push the start button twice. Once, it really seemed to struggle to start, but it did. I've had the battery/starter/alternator checked at 2 different local auto stores, and everything checks out fine.
View 7 RepliesI have 2015 IS350 F sport. At 400 miles I started hearing this static sound which seems to come from the center or the driver side dashboard. I don't hear it if the car is not moving but as soon as I hit 5-10 mph and above, it becomes audible. I tried pressing the dashboard to see if there are loose areas but couldn't find one. Also, I thought they may be coming from the center speaker but the sound doesn't change whether the stereo is on or off. Of note, it is more audible along bumpy roads.
View 6 RepliesI'm driving home from work around 10:15pm and driving around 45mph; I switch my car from the manual mode to automatic and all of a sudden my car skids 40 feet and just stops. No lights on the dash, just completely stops and locks up the rear tires. I am in the middle of the road at this point and try to restart the car and put it into drive and the car just jolts forward and makes a grinding noise. I was still in shock at the moment, and a cop pulls behind me and asks me what is going on and I tell him the situation. He says he needs to call a tow truck to move the car. I brought it home and now I don't know what to do. The car is a lexus 2007 gs350 awd with about 104k miles, I don't think the car should just stop while driving 45 mph and come to a skidding stop.
