Lexus LX 2008+ :: Turning Up Volume On Navigation System?
Feb 7, 2015
How you turn up the volume on the navigation system? Unlike my wife the ladies voice telling me where to turn is hard to hear.

View 3 RepliesWe bought our ES350 used a number of years ago. When we changed the battery, the Nav system no longer worked and a " A program cannot be read. Please consult to a dealer." message appeared. Am I wrong to assume that the loss of power from the battery swap caused the software to dump from the system and there was no disc installed to "reboot" the system? All I need is a disc and the system will restore? If so will an "update" disc work or do I need an original "program" disc?
View 1 Replies I just waited 5 months for my ES300H Ultra Luxury with Mark Levinson. I am coming from an HS250 with a technology package that actually blows away this car.
My biggest gripe - When you have navigation set, and then you use the phone, the NAVIGATION PROMPTS still come on over your phone call. So the person on the other side of the phone is hearing all of your navigation prompts. In the HS250 prompts completely went silent, and you looked at the map while talking on the phone. (Which is the correct way.) As a Realtor, I am constantly talking to clients and using driving directions and this is totally unprofessional. People on the other line think I am talking to them and say what? I cannot believe that when a phone call comes in while I am driving, I have to go into settings, go into voice, and then lower the volume (no volume control for prompts on the steering wheel.) All while driving, and talking on the phone. TOTALLY DANGEROUS.
In addition, when using radio, in the HS250 when a prompt came on, it temporary lowered volume during the prompt so you could hear it. Not on the ES300H. You cannot hear the prompts over the radio.
Not to mention you cannot even voice delete a destination and you lose tons of commands on the new navigation system. Navigation is sending me on crazy routes. The phone sounds like it is in a tin can compared to the HS250. I don't know how I ended up spending big bucks more for a car that actually went backwards in technology.
I am not sure what kind of Prius I have. There is no MAP button on the dash. I was wondering if it was possible if there was a program I could install so I can have a GPS system.
View 14 RepliesVoice command feature not responding to your voice input. I have noticed that after send saying a few voice commands like setting up an address for Navigation (city, street, number etc) the system seems to stop recognizing that I saying a command. I push the voice command and the system will respond with "Say a command", to which I would say a command but the system doesn't seem to either hear me speak or respond to my command. It seems as if the microphone has stopped working or else the voice recognition system has hung up.
Mine is a 2012 Mark Levinson Nav system.
Front door panels (possibly the rear too) rattles when the audio system volume is quite high?
View 10 RepliesI have recently decided to not renew any XM services on my 13 GS. One unintended consequence of that decision seems to be a surprise. My slow start of the navigation system is gone. The system starts up instantly every time. I have observed it for 4 days now, and not a single slow start. Not sure if the problem is in the XM receiver, or the way the navigation tries to consume the XM data services, but it's definitely related to XM.
View 7 RepliesI recently bought a 2008 F-250 lariat and it came with the single disk am/fm radio, i am wondering, can put the navigation touch screen radio in its place?
View 2 RepliesI have a 2013 Non-F Sport Model with Navigation and was wondering if there was a secret on HOW To TURN OFF the Navigation? Not the whole screen, just the Navigation part. I see how to turn off the screen but I want to just see my Radio/SAT menu on the screen as I do not use Navigation that often. Right now Navigation is always on and takes up 3/4 of the screen!
also... is is safe to drive in any of the 3 modes (eco, normal, sport) ALL the time in all conditions ? As in using Eco for driving all the time (city and highway), or is one better than the other for certain conditions.
I just realized that I should be hearing the nav system giving me audible turn notifications. And I haven't been getting them. I have a destination entered, and am in the middle of being guided.
Having the audio system on/off makes no difference
I have the voice guides turned on (via Menu screen)
I have the voice volume set at 7 (via Menu screen)
Turning the speed-adaptive volume on/off makes no difference (via Menu screen)
I am on what seems to be the original DVD disc (v3.0?) that came with the car
I have what appears to be a dealer/aftermarket installed rear entertainment system (not OEM)
So:Does the nav system audio have it's own speaker and dedicated channel in the ML amplifier? Or perhaps it's own amplifier
My navigation system sucks!!
View 14 RepliesIs it possible to turn off the display screen for the Nav system? I mean turn it completely off, so the screen is dark.
View 3 RepliesI just purchase my 2013 ES 350. Now got home and now I realized I don't know how do I turn on the navigation system without starting the car engine. I am sure there is a way to do that but I don't know how.
View 1 RepliesI was recently in a rear-end crash. The body-shop presumably disconnected the battery, fixed the rear door, and then re-connected the battery.
Now, however, the Navigation screen just flickers.
If I press Info, Audio, or Climate, the screen is just fine
If I press Menu, Dest or Display it flickers.
(Curiously, if I press Info, Audio, or Climate AND THEN press Display, the DISPLAY is fine)
Took it to the dealer, who said it was a coincidental to the body-shop repair.
I accidently press on the suspend route and not it doesn't navigate for me. I know its just as simple as pressing the option but its "frozen". So lost without the navigation system.
View 2 RepliesMy wife drives a 05 GX470. Is there a way to disable the caution message (i.e. Caution: Drive safely and obey traffic rules...) that appears on the navigation screen every time you start the suv?
View 5 Replies2004 CD Navigation. The issue is that I can't get the damn navigation volume to go any lower. The navigation volume is a touch too loud relative to the music volume. When I try to lower the navigation volume, it's already at the lowest mark on the scale.
(Yes I set the navigation volume while it's speaking). Maybe there is some way to reset the mid-point in volume and then I can lower it?
I bought a 2003 GX470 a couple of months ago and love it. It was a good upgrade from the 98 Land Cruiser I had a couple of years back and much better than my recent X5. Even though it runs great right now, I have one issue bugging me.
The Navigation unit hasn't ever really worked. Actually, it works, but since I bought it has used the secondary system which calculates location based off direction and speed which is only accurate if driving 50 yards or less - even after calibration
I found out how to get into the secret menu and looked through the settings. When I go to the screen which shows connected satellites, it says "Ensure nothing is blocking gps reception." I've tried a couple of resets, but nothing seems to work. I looked up where the antenna is to see if the connections is loose, but the only reference I found said it was on the rear glass. Unless integrated into something, I don't think it is, though.
The system still runs a factory 2003 disc for maps which is Gen 3. I tried a used 2007 map disc which upgraded the system, but didn't work. It gave disc errors so had to go back to the 2003 one. I haven't had a GPS signal since the day I bought it.
Recently the battery in our 2009 LS460 died. After installing a new battery my wife (her car) started the car and noticed that the emergency brake was set, but she selected a dealer service option on the dash display and the brake problem was solved. Almost. When she backed it up a couple of feet and pressed on the brake pedal, there was a metallic sound like the disk pads were loose in the calipers. Since this concerned my wife and since it was time for the 55K service, we took it to our local Lexus Dealer. Two days later, we got a call to tell us that the tires were worn to 3/32 tread, so we let them replace the tires.
When we got the car back, the navigation system didn't know where the car was. After reading the owners manual, we discovered that there is a navigation system procedure to update tire changes... the dealer had not done it. We also discovered a navigation system procedure to update battery changes... At the time I installed the new battery, I hadn't done it, so a couple of days late I did it.
The car still doesn't know where it is... most of the time. Some of the time though... it apparently does... for about 30 minutes or 15 miles at a time. The GPS icon randomly appears and disappears.
The latest from the dealer is that we may need a map data upgrade for $300, but I think it's a bad antenna connection.
My navigation system just shut off and the screen reads" can not read disk" . Any solution for this problem?
View 3 RepliesIs there any way to replace the stock nav system with something that is easier to use and more up to date and works? I did upgrade the disc and it's still a pain to use. My Iphone does a much better job, is easier to use. Also can upgrading the stock suspension on a 2003 SC 430, I got it a couple of months ago with 24000 miles but would like better handling but would like to keep the ride decent.
